We don't get Fox News in Australia unless we subscribe to Fox network's "Foxtel" satellite pay TV. Our Australian free-to-air commercial stations' tv news is very bias and thrives on sensationalism through misrepresented truths and even plain lies at times. I've caught them out many times. Our printed media is much the same.

For the record, ASIO (Australia's Security Intelligence Organisation) has the right to tap our phones in Australia and they do. They also have the right to search and seize anything in a suspected terrorist's house, including the occupants, without warning, and this does happen too, so we (Australians) have no reason to dislike America for having the same thing. It's part of the modern world. Don't blame the governments or the innocent people for that, blame the terrorists.

Firstly, how about showing Zia some respect by not accusing her of being drunk!!!

Like it or not, Australia does need the US!
We have several US military bases here, not just to help them out, but as a trade-off for their protection. Australia's a huge country and we simply do not have enough people in the military to protect our own country.
The US satellite tracking station is to help with an international network of such stations. Without such bases we could be screwed. By population numbers we are a very small nation. We only have 21,394,206 people. The US has 304,884,074. Australia can't afford spend as much on things, such as defense, which is where we are indebted to the US.

The Tories really don't seem to know what to do with themselves, what policies to pursue or what principles to stand for (common sense would suggest conservative ones?).

Some Tory obviously read a book published in the States last summer which is where the idea of reforming the Inheritance Tax system came from - and this means David Cameron thinks he will get the keys to No. 10?
