Does socialized medicine make you a dependent of the state?
We Americans are damn tired of being thought of as dumb by the rest of the world. So we went to the polls in November and removed all doubt.

Then truly be altruistic... give 20% of your pay to hospitals.
Don't FORCE the rest of us to pay just to make you feel better!

It isnt people forcing you to do anything, governments use force. The public can only choose between pay or lose their freedom behind bars.

Placing blame on the public's shoulders considering this choice they're faced with is a bit harsh in my opinion.

which i thought seemed to imply that you thought the public (such as lena), were doing the forcing. So i pointed out that the public dont force anything.

Seems we're talking cross purposes and looking again maybe you were talking to the taxers rather than the people being taxed?

Fred is talking crap.

20% of income to fund hospitals? Bollocks.

20% of income in the UK funds our hospitals, schools, defence, police and so forth.

A world class nation, a world power, one of the biggest economies - and not 20% of income to fund hospitals.

It does prove one thing - Americans are far to greedy and not socially minded.

Correct.

And I just threw out that 20% for Lena to give, since she wants to be so charitable.
I meant not to imply that's what my taxes will increase by.
