We captured an Enigma from a U-Boat.

Who is the bigger fool--me, for posting a slightly inaccurate account of how the POLISH were able obtain a complete Enigma cipher machine to deliver to the British in 1939, or YOU, Colonel, who flatly refuse to check the historical facts, or even look up and educate yourself from the links I posted (e.g. "Don't confuse me with the facts--my mind is already made up!")?

Factually, the Polish were reading German military traffic for 6-1/2 years, before they shared the secrets with the British and the French.

Factually, the German Naval Enigma differed from those that the rest of the German military was using, and therefore the existing procedures developed by the Poles did not work on the naval ciphers--so yes, the capture of a naval Enigma by the HMS Bulldog in 1941 did help a great deal, but only in the deciphering of NAVAL CIPHERS.

To quote from Wikipedia:
The machine has gained notoriety because Allied cryptologists were able to decrypt a large number of messages that had been enciphered on the machine. Decryption was made possible in 1932 by Polish cryptographers Marian Rejewski, Jerzy Różycki and Henryk Zygalski from Cipher Bureau. In mid-1939 reconstruction and decryption methods were delivered from Poland to Britain and France. The intelligence gained through this source, codenamed ULTRA, was a significant aid to the Allied war effort. The exact influence of ULTRA is debated, but a typical assessment is that the end of the European war was hastened by two years because of the decryption of German ciphers.

And again, from the same ARTICLE:
Jonathan Mostow's 2000 film U-571 describes a fictional patrol by American submariners who have hijacked a German submarine to obtain an Enigma machine. The machine used in the film was an authentic Enigma obtained from a collector. The historical liberties taken are large, for the Polish breaks into Enigma (beginning in December 1932) did not require a captured machine, the Royal Navy captured several Enigmas or parts before the U.S. entered the war, and the U.S. capture of a U-boat occurred only days before D-Day in 1944. The film caused considerable protests when it was released in Britain, since it effectively transferred the exploits of the real life HMS Bulldog to a fictional American boat.

I will not reply while I am being attacked, flamed and insulted without reason.

As usual, the usual trolls are at work.

No, I'm not actually Zia.

We captured an Enigma from a U-Boat.

I would like to say sorry for changing the topic. Some brits won't accecpt that america won the war. They can't accecpt with us they would have lost. We builded everything for a allys. Only america produced even more then germany during the war. To say you brits won the war and took the lead is false. Its well known fact. Monty took orders from the USA. All you people saying Dwight D. Eisenhower did nt plan out attack or had people plan them out for him is false. Somthing called team. Dwight D. Eisenhower was the leader. Monty was force to use Dwight D. Eisenhower and his advisors plans not the other way around. So this is for you nay sayers out there STFU!

Do you wear diapers, Adolf?

I'm against perversion and I'm also pro-child's rights.

How insulting is that!

Not at all. Smeghead.

Why did you gratuitously defame me by calling me an AB/DL (which means "Adult Baby/Diaper Lover")?

Judging by your posts, you are the nappy-wearing Nazi nonce. :D

I've heard a lot of insults on this thread, but where the f*** did that come from?
Cambridge,

You clearly don’t know the Colonel as well as you think you do. Myron is undoubtedly referring to the many hundreds (if not thousands) of trolling posts by the Colonel in nappy/diaper threads, and also in circumcision threads. Also you failed to notice that it was the Colonel who started the insults by calling Myron an AB/DL (without any evidence as usual).

Ya know, Rebman, I don’t really have a problem with the Colonel. Even tho he’s on the opposite wall from me, he’s always been a gentleman to me as long as I have treated him equally. I've posted before, to cos, in response to his warning that I shouldn't be too friendly to him, that I am an independent-minded person and I am not going to be stampeded into going along with a crowd.

Which brings me to my point: we are having a big debate in the San Francisco Chronicle about the “bullies” and the “trolls” on the Internet. But what we’re finding out is that there is really no difference between the bullies and the victims, except who complains first. They're both hurling insults. You gotta have a little bit of a tough hide to get into chat rooms like this…live with it, for the most part. And, forgive me, but for everyone of you that are calling the Colonel an arsehole, I've noticed that you have been just as much an arsehole too at some point in time. And yep, so have I (but I admit my farts  ).

Who is the bully? Someone who says something in the heat of battle? Or someone who engages in these PM conspiracies and gets a whole schoolyard gang to jump on a single individual? Hairy-back, bless his evil soul, also doesn’t need the comfort of numbers in order to make arguments or conduct himself socially on this site. There's something to be said there. So, you might wanna think a little more about what’s going on.

Hi, NL…great to see you. Jump in with more of your opinions. They are good ones.

Something I think you have missed Cambridge -

Even though people may not agree with me here, I post in a variety of areas on different issues and topics. In doing so, I communicate with a lot of members.

Therefore, my communication is to a large group of people. I do not solely communicate with one individual, nor do I solely attack/severely debate with one individual.

However, with Rebman, if you look through is post history, only about five of his posts are not directed at me - flaming, bullying, insulting and the rest.

That is not what a member should be doing.

That is not a valuable contribution to the site.

And it is no surprise that a certain idiot has jumped to his defence (myron). In the private section of this site, which WebMonkey leads, and of which I am a member (I do not mean VIP) there has been plenty suggestion (not from me either) that myron and Rebman are one and the same.

I will not name names, since that is the whole point of the private area.

Bascially, my point Cambridge, is if you were only on this site to attack someone (e.g. me) then what would that make you? And why would anyone bother with you?

Rebman is nothing but a troll by the simple fact 95%+ of his posts (if not more) are personal attacks on me.

By "private area," the Colonel is referring to Private Messages which the Colonel has apparently been sending to other members.

The only member who has publicly -- and falsely -- posted that "REBMAN=MYRON" is the Colonel.

The Colonel is an admitted liar and a demonstrated coward.

The private area is NOT private messaging.

It is a private members area led by WebMonkey.

No I don't, because Rebman is not me.

Rebman is British and lives in Britain, as evidenced by Rebman's posts, writing style, grammar and spelling.

And I am sure Admin can confirm that I am not Rebman.

Then you will have to admit that you're full of S***, but I'm not holding my breath for honesty from you.
