every woman reacts to the pill differently so I can't say for sure how it will be for you. I am over 40 have had 3 kids in my twenties, was on Cerazette for four years and then decided to have another baby. I did not know if it would be possible since I was over 40 and had been without my period for 4 years on Cerazette. Like I said, I got my period 4 weeks after coming off the pill and I also fell pregnant that cycle but sadly lost the baby very early in my pregnancy. I don't know whether it was to do with my age or whether it was to do with a blood clotting disorder I have or whether it was to do with falling pregnant so soon after stopping the pill. Cerazette gives your body a "fake" progesterone to trick it into thinking it's pregnant so that your body does not ovulate and thus is protected from pregnancy. After coming off the pill, it takes awhile for your normal progesterone production to kick in again and progesterone is necessary to sustain a pregnancy. I always had the feeling that I got pregnant too soon after coming off the pill and that my body was not yet producing enough natural progesterone to sustain a pregnancy and that is why I miscarried. I don't know for sure, but that is how I feel. I got pregnant again 4 cycles after I miscarried and gave birth to a healthy baby boy last November. I would recommend that anyone coming off the pill in order to have a baby get their progesterone levels checked before falling pregnant just to make sure they're back to normal before having to go through the devastation of a miscarriage.

I think any pill can screw up your body and make it more difficult in future to have a baby. Each woman's body reacts differently to these types of hormones (and fake hormones) that are used in the different birth control pills. It doesn't specifically have to be Cerazette, any BC pill can screw up your natural hormones so that getting pregnant and sustaining a pregnancy can be more difficult than if you had not been on the pill to begin with. Those are the risks we take to protect ourselves against unwanted pregnancy.

The other choices would be to use a hormone free type of birth control (such as condoms) or abstinence.

this will sound silly but what is abstinence?? i looked on google but i don understand what it is and what it does...

this will also sound silly but i dont trust condoms because of how many people i know to have got pregnant by them splitting and stuff.

me and my boyfriend have been dying to have sex for about a year but i have also said no because if i ever became pregnant under 17 my family wouldnt be hapy with me and i wouldnt be happy with my self either, because i have all my careers planned and dont want to spoil it, although im just going into year 11.

my only fear is getting pregnant and i dont know what to do :(

abstinence is exactly what you and your boyfriend have been practicing up to now...no sex. Not having sex is the surest way of preventing a pregnancy. No birth control is 100% effective...

I also tell my teenage kids that before they start having sexual relationships, they must think of the consequences that could happen. Abstinence is the only 100% way of preventing a pregnancy. It's important to consider how you would react and what your "plan" would be if you start a sexual relationship and a pregnancy resulted from it.

I think you and your boyfriend are behaving very responsibly to be putting so much thought into birth control and what a pregnancy would mean. Good for you!

the abstinence plan wont work with me and boyfriend because we both want to do it, but we dont want me to get pregnant and if we did the abstinence again then we will probably argue a lot, like we do now lol.

well my career plan is to be a nursery nurse and im already doing the nvq's and im on to my level 2 this year so at the end of year 11 im going to start working as a nursery nurse and i wouldnt want to ruin it by being pregnant in the next year.
how does the injection work? i hate needles but if it gunna help me i dont mind lol.

at the moment it must sound like me and boyfriend are planning to have sex with out condoms because im on the pill but we were going to use 2 types of contreception, the pill and condoms....

I would think that that would protect you from pregnancy. Best wishes to both of you! :)

I have been on cerazette for about 5 years now! I recently tried another pill due to loss of libido on cerazette. Although I got my libido back the side effects of the other pill- were so much worse- weight gain, depressive moods, headaches! To be honest cerazette for me has generally been fantastic- I have lost weight and maintained it, and have no side effects other than lack of libido, which I have decided to cope with, given the horrendous side effects that I experience on other pills.

My view is that pills cause different reactions for different people!! Although I have accepted lack of libido, it is very frustrating!!! HOWEVER given the other symptoms I have had, I think loss of libido is something I am prepared to accept.

I sympahise with everyone trying new pills- it is a nightmare. Good advice given to me once by a nurse was that if you do not feel yourself on a new pill come off it immediatley!

also in response to coming off cerazette- I have always menstruated immediatley after stopping this pill!

I was on Cerazette for 2 years and never bled once, which is what the DR told me would happen.
I had n side effects what so ever and it worked brilliantly as a contreception as long as I took it pretty much exactly the same time every day (which I did)
In April this year I decided to go off the pill totally & take a break, now 5 months later, my body still hasn't gone back to "normal" and I am yet to have a period...
DR has now said it could take up to 6 months for me to start bleeding naturally again.
Admittedly I am starting to get a little worried now, But Cerazette has been by far the best pill i have ever been on to date...
I just hate the confliciting DR opinions some say progestrone only pills are great others say bad who to beleive?!?

HI all.

I too feel like I'm having a bad time on this pill. I used to take combined but then I had no libido at all! I've been on Cerazette for nearly 3 months now and I experience worse and prolonged period pains that last about 3 days. But, at least I'm getting a period!

This last period has lasted 2 weeks and it actually getting heavier and my period pain is back today!

The worst thing for me is the mood swings! I'm really mean to my boyfriend and I'm up and down, crying and getting angry. I actually feel sometimes that I'm going crazy!

Only good thing is that my libido is back, but then again I'm always on!

I think its effecting my relationship as men can never fully understand how periods can have such and effect on our wellbeing!

I'm thinking of giving up the pill alltogether and going back to good old yucky condoms.

I was on Cerazette for four years and then came off to have a baby. I did not have a period for those 4 years while on it (only occasional spotting). Once I came off, it took 4 weeks for me to get my period. Now after the birth of my son, I am back on Cerazette. It's nice that this pill can be taken while breastfeeding. I had an initial bleed once I started back on but have not had a period since then. (I started back on Cerazette about 5 months ago) I really enjoy not having my periods and no PMS!! For me, it was and still is a great pill![/quote]

BANG ON...Obviously certain pills aren't right for certain people..cerazette's main reasoning is because it does tend to stop bleeding almost 100%. Some women find this worrying and would rather have a period each month, whereas I personally see it as a godsend and am eternally grateful for any such hormone that can stop periods and period pains in a controlled and safe manner.
So for those that do not have periods on this pill, stop worrying and start enjoying! There are always pregnancy tests if you ever want to check up I have been on this pill for over a year and all I've ever seen is positive!
Although it does tend to increase your weight, it isn't the actual pill that does this, but the increase in appetite. So don't blame the pill, control your diet. By far the best pill out there.

hi there im new to this site and need some advice for my sister, she has been on this pill for a while now but has been feeling a bit strange on it, one minute she is fine and the next in tears, she has completely changed and used to be really bubbly but now has no motivation to go to work or anything, she has been thinking about coming off the pill but her bf and her don't want to start trying for kids as of yet... she has been on other pills like microgynon but it gave her bad migraines and also cysitis. Just wondered if anyone could give me some advice?? :D

I started usin this pill about 8 months ago and have found it better than the Oestrogen based ones, which i couldn't take because they made me nuaseus. I have periods but they are irregular and i found only occur when i'm stressed. They are lighter than i used to have when on the more common oestrogen pill and i don't suffer with period pains which i used to before. I also have noticed i no longer suffer with PMT durin my period. I have had no other problems and have found this pill better suited. Hope this helps anyone looking for a second opinion.
