"Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?!"

It was an impassioned, heartfelt rant. Just, unfortunately, completely mistaken.

Terrorism is a real word. It has an actual meaning. By no stretch of the imagination would Nelson Mandela ever fit that actual definition. People can call anyone anything. Many people have called Bush a terrorist, with the same disregard for actual reality. That's one of the wonderful things in life -- people are free to call anyone anything they want!

But hey, as you said, I'm nobody, my opinion is worthless to you! So please, continue on, rant away. I assume you enjoy it, so please do carry on!

:-)

Well thank you for the reply. Perhaps it was a little harsh. But when defining who should be classified as a terrorist, do bear in mind that you will find a wide range of opinions on the matter. The best, and broadest, definition I have heard is, 'One who seeks to achieve a political end using violent means'. Terrorism does not always involve attacks on the 'innocent', but quite who the innocent are is also open to interpretation.
I know a girl who has tits at the back. She's not much to look at, but fun to dance with.

Well let's see. Looking up the actual definition of Terrorist from several places, all involve the purposeful use of terror to achieve goals. Kinda obvious, I would think, given the root of the word . . . but as you said, maybe these big words are just too much for me.

Nelson Mandela never used terror to achieve his goals . . . therefore, logically, he couldn't be called a terrorist. Well, that is, if you're concerned about factual accuracy.

People call anyone they don't like a terrorist, and a ., and all kinds of other words. That doesn't make them correct, of course.

But hey, one of the fun things about politics is folks getting on a soapbox and speaking their heart and mind! Even -- especially -- when they don't even understand the words they use.

Only folks with some experience with an issue who have a decent amount of information about the issue are likely to be able to understand and analyze that issue. So the vast majority of folks will be inexperienced and uninformed on the issues. But we still want them being involved, and passionate about these big issues, so folks spouting off and getting it dead wrong is just a part of the fun!

If Obama claims to be Christian, why doesn't their family celebrate Christmas?
