What's the best cure ?

I don't know if it's the best, but the one that worked for me a while ago when I seemed prone to getting hiccups was simple to take a deep breath in, then hold it for around half a minute or as long as you can without discomfort. If hasn't worked try it again a few times. The theory is that holding the breath stops the spasm of the diaphragm.

I tried all the breath holding and water drinking techniques in the world and they never worked so I googled it one day and on a site I found they said to eat a teaspoon of sugar, nothing else just dry plain sugar so I did and they were gone immediately.
I don't know why.
