im a little discouraged at that video

the docs words were "the skin will NEVER be 100% like it used to be before you got stretch marks,but with some of this treatment you can expect 50%"

50% ? thats very discouraging...if this is supposedly THE BEST treatment ever seen thus far like they say it is, then wow...i might as will kill myself now..

that video has been posted several times already and determined to not work.i did a 25% tca peel on my arms and it didnt do anything at all lol....it barely flaked......guess tca doesnt work for everyone but ill try it again i guess.

Looks like a good deal. I paid 90 bucks for my dermaroller alone. I'd try the whole system with the trilastin after. You got to start somewhere, right?

As far as I know the effect of dermarollers on the skin is permanent. You're poking holes in the skin and when it repairs itself it creates more collagen. However, I'm not convinced rollers are the total answer to sm removal.

Persistance is there key here, guys. Start with a routine, give it some time and see what happens. If you don't see much imrovement move on to something else. Keep up with the forum and what others are doing and decide for yourself if it's worthwhile or not. Post what you are doing so others can make informed decisions on what to try and what doesn't work. Being honest and sharing ideas is the only way we'll be able to find a resolution to our sm's.

Be postive and just do something. It's better then being depressed and doing nothing at all.

why do people claim that acid peel results are only temporary?

there is no logic behind this at all.

if someone could give a viable scientific explanation as to why peel results are only temporary it would be much appreciated.

I think people are saying the results to peels are temporary because when you do deep peels it is I guess like "harming" the skin and it takes a long time for the skin to fully heal after that (especially after repeated usage like people have been doing here). So, when the skin is in its healing phase the marks look better/fully healed. But when the healing phase is over the marks return. That is my understanding of why people do not think peels work.

But, I do. And like one of the Guests have said before. Peels work on SM's because SM's are not 'recurring' problems like acne. If you get down deep enough I think you can remove them with peels. Might take a while, some time, dedication but I think it can be done.

thanks for the encouragment and advice...i will buy that roller now...maybe rollers arent the total answer to sm removal but do they atleast IMPROVE appearance/texture? at this point ill take even slight improvments in order to boost my confidence...its better than being depressed and feeling suicidal right?

I really don't mean to be depressing, more like I guess I want comfort that I'm not the only one. But.. has anyone fell out of a routine or has avoided their skin completely because they just feel gross? I seriously can't apply lotion even most days because I don't like feeling the texture of the sms on my skin. I'm also obsessed with looking at them in different lights, and keep my own house pretty dark on purpose.

wow, this is just getting sad. I hate that I have stretch marks and I've cried about the fact that I can't wear a bikini. It pisses me off that we let society dictate to us what we should look like to feel and look beautiful. This is the hand I was dealt but I'm not going to let it ruin my life. Being positive and thinking of yourself as more then just your outside appearance is critical. I think we'd be surprised at how many people have sm's...

I've been on vacation several times and have seen girls in bikinis with stretch marks all over. And they were kick ass hot girls. I think if more people, men and women both, didn't care if their marks were out in the open it eventually wouldn't be a big deal.

Even if there isn't a cure but I keep looking for one doesn't mean I'm obsessed with it. I won't let it take over my belief of who I am because I'm better then that and everyone here is too.

I know exactly what you mean. I don't even bother with lotions or creams, I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. I too can NOT stand touching my skin, I hate it! I have hundreds of stretch marks. I am so sick and tired of this.

on a side note, why did my skin doctor tell me that derma rollers and chemical peels are useless? i want to trust his opinion because he IS a doctor (a very well known and succesful one as well), but at the same time i feel that we might actually have a better understanding than someone like him does. after all, we are the ones with the sm's and the opinions and thoughts of all of us combined might be better than any doctors - no matter how good he is...

i say this because i was thinking of buying a derma roller but i remmeber the doc saying its useless... what do i do

what i have found is that doctors often dont have a clue when it comes to alot of things. because there are so many different illnesses/problems they cant possibly know everything about everything. my doctor for example knows very little about any problem i have ever seemed to have. for sure i have known far more than him about the subject matter. sms i believe are a lost cause in doctors eyes and they dont know a great deal about it in my opinion.

Not been on this forum for what seems like eons!! Hope you're all doing well.
After a long long break (life took over) I have decided to try afresh to tackle my sms again!! I am in a really positive mood about this as I am realistic about the results and will be happy about even a slight improvement!
For thos who dont know or remember, I have sms on my hips, thighs, boobs, bum and tummy (basically all the female sexy bits) which has really affected my confidence over the years and made me feel like S*** even though when I have clothes on I have a great figure and an attractive face etc etc etc
SO!! My routine (I am going to help mtself to tried and tested methods on this board) will combine (and in no strict order):
Retin A 0.1%
Glycolic acid peels (50%)
Copper Peptides
Strong, targeted peels on sms (wide ones on tummy) with salycilic acid (the stuff used for warts and verrucas)
I am also taking a concoction of vit C and multivits; Calcium,Magnesium and Zinc; Q10 and some other stuff I can't remember the name of but its good for joints.
Having said this, I am not religious about any of the above and accept that realisticaly my routine will be sporadic...BUT I intend to keep it up one way or another for the next year (thanks J, for your inspiration!!)
Then (I have a new Job!) I hope to have saved up enough money to afford a course of treatments with a Harmony Pixel laser, which is like fraxel only cheaper. I am hoping over the next few months to ask a clinic to give me a free or low-cost trial zapping of a few stretchmarks boobs and tummy (because the skin is very different in these areas) so I can see whether it will work before I fork out hundreds of pounds (I am in UK)
