Headshaving for little boys

Postby AmandaSanderson on Sat Aug 23, 2008 9:02 am

I have kept my little boys hair shaved down to a number one sice he was little - he is now eight years old. I take him to have it done about every three weeks. It makes it so easy to keep it short and neat and he has got used to it now. I recommend it for all little boys.

I say that all boys should have their heads shaved at least once. A friend of mine has had her sons head shaved for so long she is not sure what color his hair actually is. She started shaving him when he was little. He is 14 now and loves it.

My 17 y/o has always had his head shaved. He wont have it any other way. He had a number one until he was 14 and since then has had a number 0. He looks fantastic.

Boys with Shaved Hair

Postby Marky Mark on Fri Sep 05, 2008 10:59 pm

My 11 year old son asked if he could have his hair cut much shorter than lately just before our summer family holiday (two weeks ago). The barber was really good and started by clipping his head to grade 3 and checking with him to see if he wanted to go shorter. He did the same at grade 2 and grade 1 before stopping at grade 0.5. The haircut was smart, clean and zero maintenance although he was careful to either apply sunscreen or wear a hat when it has been really hot.

Shaved Head

. Hair is there for a purpose, ESPECIALLY in summer. It keeps the head from getting sunburned, and exceptionally, overheated. Kids can't (or won't) wear caps all the time and a sunburned scalp can be quite nasty.

2. A 10 year old boy has just been suspended from school in my town because his mother shaved his head. She said it was because of head lice, but it sounds like an excuse.

3. And yes, Jean94, it does make them look like identical skinhead thugs.

Leave it long.

What i have to say is if a child is suspended in school for a hairstyle there is definitly something wrong with that city or town. since when is diversity or different hairstyles something to punish??especially a ten year old boy. i believe it should be no ones buisness why the mother chose to shave her sons head. now that is ridiculous
Why teach people to be steriotypicle? isnt this what people are trying to get away from these days? It is a shaved head. So what. I am a female and i shave my head with a 1 about every 3 or 4 weeks. i can only imagine what you would have to say about this. As for the kids need hair because they cant or dont wear hats? this is the parents responsibility(if they choose to shave their sons head) to put sunscreen on their child. or put a touque on them in the winter.
Really it makes me really sad to see all these*Thug* comments. Grow up at get to know a person before you decided to think they look like *thugs* because of a shaved head.
Now as for my oppinion. i think little boys look cute with a shaved head. or cute with hair. either or depending on your childs lifestyle do wahts best till they have a voice of their own.

She has kept their hair this length since then and takes them to have it done about every two to three weeks, even now it is winter and obviously much colder than it was in the summer.

She says the boys are happy to keep it very short, it is easy to look after and they do look cute. My little boy is only six months old so has not had his first hair cut yet but I am wondering about bringing him up with very close cropped hair.

Has anyone brought their son(s) up with their hair like this and if so, would you advise it ?

I would welcome your views and experiences.

It doesn't look very nice, especially when they have lovely blonde hair and the dad insists on having it shaved short. Poor things, let it grow, they look cuter with hair.

Above should say "Depends how short it is though".

Typo.

That's not too bad then.

Number 1 or under does look a bit extreme in my opinion.

I have been shaving my boyโ€™s head weekly since he was 1 year old (he is now 13). I use a #1 guard which leaves just the tiniest bit (1/8 inch) of stubble. I shave his head every Saturday night. I canโ€™t even imagine my son with hair as it looks so tidy and smart when it is shaved. I donโ€™t understand why some women are sentimental about their boysโ€™ hair! Why would a boy need hair? With two daughters fussing (curling, setting, spraying) their hair it is nice to have one child with no hair to fuss with! I think it also sets good habits for later in life as boys who grow up having their heads shaved often continue the practice as adults, or at least keep their hair no longer than a crew-cut. :D

Why it is "a good habit"?

I guess I just think that very short hair is proper for boys and men. I prefer to see men and boys with crew-cuts. It's just a proper haircut for males.

Julie :D

I don't think there is such a thing as a "proper" haircut for men.
