Trustworthy Celebs

Postby femaleadmin on Sun Sep 07, 2008 9:43 pm

Brits trust Gordon Ramsay more than our own Prime Minister, according to shocking new research.

Television chef Ramsay topped the poll of the most trusted celebrities, followed by legendary newsreader Trevor McDonald.

But Labour leader Gordon Brown was named the person we trust the LEAST, with a whopping 21 per cent of the vote.

His predecessor Tony Blair came a close second, while Conservative leader David Cameron is third.

In total, six politicians feature in the top ten least trusted people, with Home Secretary Jacqui Smith at eight, Foreign Secretary David Miliband at nine, and Health minister Alan Johnson at ten.

However, no-one from Westminster was voted into the most trusted list.

John Sewell, spokesman for global research company said: ''It's worrying to think that, not only do we trust a celebrity chef and a newsreader more than the person who is in charge of running our country, but that the Prime Minister is the person we trust the least.

''However, it's not surprising that so many politicians feature in the poll as they aren't exactly known for their honesty.

''And as the credit crunch starts to bite, Brits battle with rising fuel and food costs and house prices continue to fall, many are placing the blame on the Government.''

The poll, of 5,000 Brits, saw recently bankrupted Kerry Katona at number four in the list of those we don't trust.

Love rat footballer Ashley Cole is at number five, proving that despite Girls Aloud wife Cheryl standing by her man after allegations of an affair with a blonde hairdresser, the country has not been quite so forgiving.

Former Strike it Lucky host Michael Barrymore was voted into number six, followed by Britain's Got Talent judge Piers Morgan.

However, Apprentice boss Sir Alan Sugar is one of the celebs we do put our trust in, coming third in the poll, while X-Factor critic Simon Cowell's honesty has seen him voted in at number four.

Fashion guru Gok Wan came fifth, followed by football star David Beckham, comic Peter Kay and TV duo Ant and Dec.

Chef Jamie Oliver and This Morning host Philip Schofield completed the top ten.
