MEH to the max

Postby gface on Wed Aug 27, 2008 3:26 pm

i failed my 2nd driving test today , pretty pissed off coz my examiner said i was actaully a decent driver , yet i still fail...

basically it was on the three point turn , he made me do it in a narrow road and i was afraid of hitting the curb so i did it slowly in about 7 steers , wasnt like i hit the curb and didnt look , it was a perfectly good turn , but apparently they can only allow 5 or 6 max , idiots

6 minors other than that aswell

getting pissed off with spending so much money but you gotta keep going , else its a waste

roll on 3rd attempt!

I failed!

Postby Guest on Tue Sep 16, 2008 8:18 pm

Hi I failed my test yesterday. With 7 minors and 2 serious. The serious 1s were 4 steering, i was trying to get out of a small gap and over steered right at the begining of the test. I was so nervous i didn't even realise I'd done it and the 2nd 4 driving to close to parked cars but the narrow roads where 2 cars cant get thro and no gap what r u ment to do? THe examiner was nice, spoke and was really polite. i thought I had passed cuz I was so impressed wiv my overal driving considering my nerves. I thought I would of failed on my monouvers cuz I hated doing them on lessons and sometimes got them wrong but I flew through em. My instructor said he could of given me minors 4 what he failed me on but I dunno y he never. Makes me wonder if they do have a quota! Well got to wait 6 weeks for my next test.... Hoping I pass as already have a car and reallly wanna get init and drive on my own. I have 2 kids and on mway would be much easier. I was sooo frustrated yesterday after my test and I really feel i've let my family down. Im hoping I pass 2nd time. i must say 2 u all taking tests best of luck and stay calm, give yourself plenty of time for slowing down and make sure ur always glancing at your mirrors. x x

Passed first time today, The book they give you really annoys me.
Women better drivers? Maybe the majority over men but what about us good male drivers? Its so unfair

Here's advice for people who need it, If you are not confident, Don't act it, Act like your the balls! I'm a confident driver but not cocky, If you look relaxed and handle situations without screaming or looking anxious they will give you less to do, I had one minor fault overall.

Another tip is to keep them talking, Ask them how long they've been an examiner and what else they do ect, It really lowers their concentration, just like they try with you, asking what area you live and what you do in school.

Because I handled the car well and kept control of situations like letting traffic pass and going around stopped vehicles he knew I was a calm and confident driver and he didn't give me any more to do, 3 manuvers is all I had to do because of it, I messed up by misreading a sign (thought it said give way)

Hope that helps some people, And remember, Just like my mum said =P
If you fail its not the end of the world, so just relax

I think your examiner is taking the pi** it is called a turn in the road for a reason as long as you dont hit the kerb you should have been fine. The swines just want more money

Very annoying and I didn't think you could fail on that but I guess he felt it wasn't my day to pass.... this site makes me feel better knowing im not the only one, thankyou ladies :) x

I've failed my test more than 5 times now and like most of those answering on the forum have no faith in the DSA any more. I worry that I won't get to pass my test before the wretched theory test comes around again.

DSA is about making money and not about licencing you to drive. Lets face it if you don't live in London how on earth are you supposed to live in this country if you can't drive.

The average pass rate is around 42% but , I've learnt, changes alot [far too much] depending on where you have to take the test. I reckon that if you are not white or not driving an instructors car your chances will be even lower.

The pattern is for the instructors to upgrade a minor fault to a serious one and fail you. Because they are judge, jury and executioner there is no arguing with them. I'm worried that complaining will stand against me and just reduce my chances of passing. Each of the examiners have their own foibles. You certainly don't believe that they take any joy from your passing.

I think the DSA has begun to think that it is more important than it really is 'as the custodian of road safety'. This is rubbish of course. Actually if it was easier to get licences more drivers would be licensed on the road and have insurance. However it started out DSA is rotten through and through now and all about making money.

Why is the pass rate only 42% after all the coaching that people are taking? What would the papers say if only 42% of trained applicants passed their exams? Yes - they would say that there is something really wrong with the system! Are all those expensive ADI instructors really that poor?

When you pass your test complain to everyone you can think of about the inbuilt unfairness of this system. DSA plan to make it even more unfair and expensive in the name of road safety. Call them to account. Don't let them get away with it any more.

Of course people do pass and some people would be a hazard on the road. But the process has swung too far against those seeking a driving licence.

I also failed my test. Couldn't believe it. I've been a practicing rally car driver for around 6 years and won many competitions. I'v never had a problem with driving and didn't even imagine that they would fail me. They failed me one 1 thing... apparently I got into the lane a bit late at a round about. I mean....what the hell???? I definitely think sexism comes into it, should of seen his face when i told him I was a racing car driver, as if to say "but your a woman". I'd love to take him out on a driving skill challange n see who wins lol. Glad to get it off my chest. Thanks guys

Ive just failed my 4th test 2day, all the examiners at Scarborough are complete wankers, so biased too.
I failed my first test for not putting my handbrake on at a stop sign, yet i know many of my friends who have done
the exact same and pass, ive had the same examiner 3 times and he left her off on a major fault...mm i even no someone who drove straight through the stop sign and passed!
I feel like the day is never going to come for me,
my instructor says he doesnt understand cos on lessons i make few minor mistakes and on test...well it just falls apart!
Anyone else think examiners are nobhead?!

For you folks that fail your tests, look upon the whole experience as a learning session, no amount of time spent with any instructor will impart the stress you experience on your big day, experience the stress, learn from it and improve.

Always use an experienced instructor, there are cheap alternatives to most things, do not scrimp on driving tuition, you get what you pay for, go to an experienced reputably driving school, pay the money, get good tuition and get that driving licence.

I failed my first driving test with 3 majors and 8 minors last month.
1st major for not checking at an unmarked cross roads (literally about 3 mins into the test) so i was completely put of for the rest of the test!
2nd major on the 3 point turn- instead of going into 1st i put the car in reverse and reversed up the grass verge lol.
3rd major mistake was at some lights and the examiner had to slam on. It was someone else's fault though!
Got my next test next Friday :) keep hopeful!

I had my first driving test today, and failed with 6 minors and 1 serious. I've found the whole experience really upsetting and just wondered how you guys coped with the disappointment and brought yourself to book the next test. I was totally pertrified and to make it worse I had an examiner and the Chief examiner in the car, the manoeuvres went perfectly and all was going ok until I made a stupid mistake. My confidence was already low as the pre-test lesson didn't go brilliantly (reverse round a car is still a nightmare), and I don't think I can face going through that again, especially as the next available tests aren't til June. Does anyone have any advice???

Im sorry but they know if your over confident. you were just a good driver, the advice you are giving is irresponsible. just because they keep you talking and you try and do the same doesnt mean it takes their concentration away. they are fully trained for this! as for giving you less to do, they always have a set test route.
and you say you had 3 manouvers? i thought you only did 2?!!! did you have an advanced test?? ha!!
