Is every day too much?

Postby roses are red on Wed Sep 24, 2008 8:23 pm

Hi ladies,

Hope you're all well.

I have a question which I've read various answers to but wanted to put it to you all and see if anyone has any advice.

Most people say that to give yourself the best chance of conception that you should have sex every other day and every day for three days leading upto ovulation (assuming you know when you will ovulate).
Now I know that having less sex than this will obviously lessen your chances but I was wondering if more than this will too?
I've read opinions that having sex every day can affect the quality of sperm but I'm not sure if that's true or not and also wether it is likely to make a tangible difference to conception chances.

Any ideas?

Having read your post, I have a few answers for you....

Abstaining for a few days increases the number of sperm produced.... the larger the amount of sperm the more chance there is of hitting the jackpot.

However, just because there is a larger quanity does not guarantee quality, and it's the quality which is also necessary for sucessful conception.
Increasing the quality is not an overnight solution... it can take at least 6 months,
Cutting out smoking completely, cutting down alcohol consumption... (no binging!)
Wearing boxers not briefs (stops the testes from being squished to the body - therefore raising temperature!)

I'd seek advice from your GP in respect of the actual changes you will need - however the 3 I've mentioned are the basics!

Hope this helps.

Hiya,

I am looking to try for a baby in about 6 months so I have started looking for information _.

I remember coming across something that said having sex every other day is better than everyday.....

Good Luck! :D

i can't remember if someone told me or if i read it somewhere, but anyway.

i was informed that you could give your man a 'helping hand' in the morning so that by the evening when your gonna have sex the sperm are 'fresh'.

can anyone clear up if this is fact or fiction ?!?

Hiya was jsut reading this post and thought id pop on!!
my hubby works away mon - fri so when we was trying we only had weekends to try and sometimes we was both knackered to even want to try.

I was on the pill for 9 years too so i was amazed when i fell pregnant 4 1/2 months after trying.. i had a little girl just over 3 weeks ago!!
All i can say is just relax and enjoy trying for a baby, i remember when we first started and it was charts, temp taking, when i was ovulating and it just takes the fun out of it!! just do it when you feel like it, enjoy it, it will happen when its ready believe me i should know..

Good luck girls jsut RELAX AND HAVE FUN!!
