I do know it was made as a joke.

However, the other threads irritated me, with the likes of troll posters posting ingorant (and offensive) crap all the time.

However, since this thread is called "a rant" - I'm not exactly ranting about it. A mature discussion (which was impossible in the other thread) is somewhat occuring here, although a bit more input would help.

I am open to it, but I dislike ignorant, closed-minded people (like Fred in other threads) who dictate the same thing over and over again.

So, I invite discussion.

Or mine. Do you think the doctor just says 'ok then we will whip it off' the first time you go and see him? My son was under the hospitals care for nearly 2 years before his consultant said 'yes, lets whip it off'. He had various things to do to try and get it to go back on its own but it wouldnt. Sometimes there is nothing you can do. Im sure the Colonels son had a similar experiance.

Well, Mooncat does actually have a point.

Some doctors are inexperienced. And in the U.S they simply don't bother, it's a circumcision or nothing. So, Mooncat is correct to an extent.

However, in some cases other treatments just aren't possible. My eldest son (who was 15 at the time, and now 18.) had a bad case where glans could not be seen at all, and the foreskin was so tight it looked like a refuge sack tied up with string. Urine used to spray everywhere, it would balloon, and urine would get trapped in the foreskin during urination and dribble out later on (looking like he'd wet himself). As a result of this, he got infections, which were painful for him. Also, he had to constantly put a piece of loo roll in his pants after going to wee to collect the urine that would leak out afterwards.

In addition, erections were painful for him as the skin would not retract but tighten, and being that he was at "that age" it became very upsetting for him. However, since his circumcision there haven't been any problems and he is very happy with the result. In hindsight, it would have been better had he been circumcised at birth to avoid the pain before and after the operation, but these things we just can't predict.

I know there are steriod creams, and also a dorsal slit that can be done. However, my son's case was bad. There was no way either of them would have worked. My wife is a GP, and there is no way she'd have allowed him to have it done if it could have been sorted otherwise (I mean, no parent would put a kid through a skin graft rather than get spot cream - if you see what I mean).

As I am circumcised, my wife wasn't too concerned about it, and it also reassured him to know I was.

My youngest, Andrew, has had a few urine infections. But nothing to the extent that Ryan had.

So, Mooncat does make a valid point, but circumcision is sometimes necessary for phimosis.

what about the ones your having are they going to have it done???

Point taken, sometimes amputation is the best option when a body part is damaged, faulty, or malformed. It seems that the young man in question tried all the other options. At least, he was given the choice, unlike thousands of baby boys every week..

Yes, quite true.

You are correct. Somehow it was damaged/malformed. According to my wife infections can result in the scarring/damage of tissue, tightening it, and therefore it becoming unable to retract.

He did have a choice, but in fairness, it was the only choice that was really available. He could have said no, but for him to do so would have simply left him in pain, with more infections, and I know there was no way he could have had sexual relations without having it done.

In the end, it was the best option for him, and he doesn't regret it.

I do acknowledge that the same is not true of everyone.

On medical grounds, I was circumcised at 43. My then g’friend had the opportunity of really telling people as it was, as we had been together for over a year at that stage and stayed together for another 18mths.

The whole hygiene issue is a load of RUBBISH. A man is either clean or he is not. I was unable to retract before my op and maintain 100% cleanliness, freshness etc all my life, WHY? Because I took care of myself daily, bi-daily or tri-daily if I thought it need be. If your unclean you are unclean regardless to whether you are intact or not.

NOW as an adult, I will say this. THERE IS NO NEED ON THIS PLANET to subject any child to the pain that I went through for 14 months [post op]. All this talk about a baby won’t feel it or its not so sensitive is RUBBISH.

You can STOP all of this RUBBISH about tradition and culture. It is a BRUTAL mutilation that has become very fashionable. It is torture to the body. I had mine done because I needed to have it done. I am telling it straight here cos no baby can come to this thread and tell it for real like I AM HERE.

I believe that it has made zero difference to hygiene. BUT it has allowed me to gain better blood flow and thus achieve an even bigger erection [about 15-20mm]. It never looked bad before [I am bound to say that] but yes, it does look better now. I was always able to maintain an erection for silly amounts of time before, I still can and maybe even longer now, though it is much less sensitive which means oral sex can be tiresome for your lady.

Sex from my then g’friend’s point of view.. It was different [my attitude mainly], not better just different for she felt it was always good before, so my attitude to her pleasure did not change if anything I wanted to show off once I got it working again.

I get concerned about women who say that they would not go out with a man that is not cut,, I would never say that I would not go out with a woman who had not had some form of sexual cosmetic surgery and that is just what this is at birth,, PURE COSMETIC SURGERY where a child has no choice.

But if like me, you have to have it done, then it has to be done. I put it off for years but it had to be done..

I can walk straight now.. looking back I have to laugh at myself.. but it did hurt..and that's no kidding.
