Stretched earlobe jewellery

Postby Moonstone » Mon Oct 01, 2007 2:59 pm

This is an update to my earlier post. I was asking for ideas for ear jewellery. When I was at uni in a goth phase I stretched them to about 15mm but now, a few years later, I have a husband (J), a good job and a more conventional lifestyle. My lobes shrank back to about 10 - 12mm and stopped there. I hid them under my hair for years.
Last Christmas J got me a pair of 14K gold segment rings, 15mm diameter, 8G (about 3.5mm), at considerable expense (but I’m worth it!).
Almost a success, but then we had to send for a pair of ring opening pliers, so that was another fortnight. Once they arrived, it took J only a few minutes to fix the earrings for me. I changed to a hairstyle that shows my ears. Now, a few months later:
The rings are quite heavy (solid gold) and even now I am conscious of wearing them.
They pull my lobes down a little, but not enough to stretch them any more, I think.
I asked J to remove them for a family party (my mother would be there!) and he half-joking said no, I had to wear them until he decided, so I kept them in: not being able to remove them myself is kind of sexy, for some reason.
EVERYBODY notices my ears! Most people look but don’t say anything. Some comment, like (best), ‘your earrings look fantastic’ and (worst), ‘have your ears always been like that?’ I’ve got used to it.
I love them and J loves the way they look.
Last, segment rings are just great to wear. They are completely smooth and completely comfortable, with nothing to catch on anything. I can towel my hair dry without even noticing them.
I guess I’ll keep them in for the foreseeable future.

I love the look of stretched lobes, as long as it isn't over done.

My lobes were pierced with standard piercing studs and I have stretched them as large as 8 gauge. I loved wearing the 8 gauge tunnels in them, as well as the weight of the CBR's, it was very noticable.

I have since removed the 8 gauge jewelry and allowed the holes to return to the smaller standard piercing size. Because of work, although I do wear earrings, the larger stretched piercings are frowned upon and I would not be allowed to wear large tunnels in my ears.

That sounds like a very repressive work environment! I can understand about tunnels if youre meeting the public, but 8G CBRs? How would anyone tell they arent the faked CBRs you can get in most high street jewellers?

Stretched lobes

Postby Guest » Thu Oct 11, 2007 11:44 am

I started stretching my lobes when I was 14 keeping them hidden from parents and school under my hair.
As I grew older I realised that I was stuck with stretched lobes and needed something to wear in htem that would look reasonably smart in both work and social enivronments.
Eventually I purchased two gold sovereigns and got a jeweller to mount them so that I could wear them like plugs. I had to stretch a bit further to accommodate them as they are almost 1" in diameter.
I am now in my mid 20's happily married and with a good job and my 'solid gold lobes' are much admired.

Because stretched lobes are becoming more common place now days, I believe it won't be long before it becomes more acceptable in the workplace.

I have visited a restaurant where they don't allow their employees to wear large gauge jewelry in their lobes, so you see large empty holes that are not appealing. They would look much nicer if they were allowed to wear plugs and/or tunnels in their stretched lobes.

Moonstone,
do you know where your husband bought the gold segment rings. They sound just what I've been looking for for ages. I have some 2.5mm steel ones, but really want some heave gold ones!

On the Internet from www.tribalectic.com We were concerned about the cost and not having used the site before, but they delivered as they said they would. They make them to order so it takes a week or two.

If your earrings are heavy enough to pull your lobes down a little they will probably continue to stretch your lobes slowly for as long as you wear them.
