Milk discharge from your breasts in the absence of having had a child sometimes be a sign of a problem. I'm not a doctor, but am a 4th year medical student. The breasts will normally only lactate for the duration of nursing and should then stop (assuming ALL nursing has stopped...it doesn't have to be the baby). If you are lactating in the absence of recent pregnancy and/or have not been having your period in conjunction with this I would consult with your OB/GYN.

Hi Nymced...did you learn in medical school that when a breast is stimulated, it can produce breast milk, even though there isn't a pregnancy or child? You should do a little research on those who adopt children and breastfeed, and I believe there have been a few men who have been able to induce lactation by stimulating the nipple and the breast tissue around it. The stimulation causes the body to produce oxytocin and prolactin. It can take about 3 weeks for lactation to occur...give or take. Also, if a large amount of milk is produced on a regular basis, this will cause a woman's menstrual cycle to diminish, become less regular, or dissappear altogether, until lactation has decreased or ceased. It is more difficult to induce lactation in someone who has never been pregnant...but it CAN be done.

When I had my babies, I breast fed each one. My husband wasn't keen on breast milk at all, that I could tell. Anyways, we are separated now, and I've been dating someone who thinks that would be an awesome thing for him. I'm considering attempting to stimulate myself to induce lactation, just for fun. LOL It turns me on that he would like it. I haven't breastfed for almost 7 years, so we shall see how it goes, if i choose to try it. I personally like the idea of a man who is the signifigant other of a lactating woman, to be turned on, and/or excited about it.
