Showing the control tops of your tights, faux pas or sexy?

Ladies please enlighten me. I have sometimes seen teenage girls wearing tight very short denim shorts.
With these they wear sheer black tights/pantyhose. But instead of these being sheer to waist they are the kind that have, what I believe is called a control top, or regular brief (please correct me if my terminology is incorrect). Some of this shows below the lower edge of their shorts, just peeking out as they walk, but inches of it when they sit. Personally I find this very sexy as it simulates a stockings top.
But do ladies in general think this is meant to be sexy or is it a fashion faux pas. Do you think the girls who dress like this have some specific reasoning to do so.

Oh they know what they are doing. I suspect it is part rebelious and part exploring their newfound sexuality. Some girls/women are aghast that the tops of their pantyhose are showing, some find it sexy that men find it sexy. I let my tops show in my minis when not wearing stw pantyhose mostly part b/c my hems are so short and I like the tease...just like the teens.

I've noticed this look quite a bit and I think it's one of the sexiest sights! It turns me on so much, especially if they are wearing nude/tan tights. I don't think they are control tops as such but just the reinforced part of the tights (like at the toe). Sheer to waist would be the obvious choice for most women wearing short skirts but I say lets see the reinforcement!!

Similar to the point of the topic, my girlfriend wears tights under jeans a lot (it started as black opaques but is now almost always sheer tan or barely black) and a lot of the time when she sits or crouches, they show at the top of her jeans.

Its not something she does for attention coz she is quite embarrased when I tell her about, but as I say it does happen a lot.

i'd have said its a fashion faux pas but those types of tights are cheaper than sheer-to-waist so if you're on a budget...

I think it's a faux pas (or at least very bad) The whole idea behind pantyhose is 2 provide a clean line and make your entire legs look nice. So if that line is broken then it looks bad. Of course some want 2 call attention 2 themselves in that way But if u think about it, the top part of the hose are really underwear. However having said that, it is very easy 4 this 2 happen especially in a shorter skirt.

I agree with Buffyfan. I wore a new rather tight blue skirt to work last week. It falls a little bit below mid thigh. Because it was a bit form fitting, my tan tights out of necessity were of the control top variety. Whilst I didn't notice it, one of my work mates told me straight away that my tights tops were fully on show. I spent the rest of the day tugging at my skirt, mostly to no avail. I even tried pulling my tights up higher but ended up with a huge ladder instead. I felt really embarassed by the experience.

This is a rare occurance these days with so few women wearing hose of any kind. But when it happens there is nothing better expecially if the girl knows her hose tops are on show, and trys with little or no success to keep them covered up. Much sexier than one who doesn't care or shows them deliberately.

Luckily no teenager or any woman under 65 wears pantyhose here so it's a non-issue

the current fash is tights under shorts or short skirts but most students i see from the local college wear opaques so don't have this pantie showing prob

Mate, you are one lucky guy as I LOVE seeing a girl's tights sticking out of her trousers or jeans.

There is a pretty girl who works in our office who has recently started wearing cropped trousers with the barely black style tights you talk about on underneath and because she sits near me on an open backed chair with her back to me its very common to see the waistband of her tights and some of the see through bit below on display at the top of her trousers.

One day last week she was sitting but leaning into her *a**a* which was on the floor and her trousers had slipped so far you could even see the top of her bum crack through the tights as the centre seam had moved slightly off centre.

The guy who picks her up from work each night is only lucky guy!!

On teenagers it is sort of acceptable but for anybody over 20 it just looks like they haven't dressed properly.....I have to say that it does excite me when I see it accidentally though on another woman.
