Period pains, but still no period

Postby Guest 5 on Thu Dec 08, 2005 1:59 pm

I am 10 days overdue now, last week when I was due on I had period pains and it felt like I was going to be on, but 10 days late and still no period. My nipples are not really sore but a little bit itchy, I did notice the other day that when my nipples are erected they are a yellowish white colour. Took a test at the weekend but it was negative.

Hello!! I'm not sure from your post if you are worried about the thought that your 10 days late or if you are trying to get pregnant. From personal experience, this happened to me a couple of years ago, I felt really hormonal and suffering with period pains, however I never actually bled! I took a test 2 weeks after I was due and found out that I was pregnant. To put it mildly - it was a shock becasue I was convinced that I wasnt pregnant as I had no other symptons at all and really felt like I was going to come on! I have since found out that it is quite normal to feel crampy at the beginning as the uterus is growing!

My advice, take a test again in a few days if you still havent come on and whatever the result is, get yourself booked in to see your GP.

Good luck and I hope you get the outcome you want x
Keep smiling!

Am going through something very similar myself. Was due on 5 days ago but my period didn't arrive. Since then I've had period pains on and off, but no period. Today the pains have been there all day. I did a pregnancy test today but it was negative. Will try again in three days. Not sure if I'm pregnant or whether the stress of not knowing is delaying my period. Do you have any news about your situation yet?

Here's some words of advice from someone who has this every period, I have a cycle that can go from 21 days to 90 days.

1) The more you stress about it the more you are going to delay your period.
2) if the pain is roughly the same time each month, and your period is late each month, my advice is to go and see your GP.
3) hormone changes throughout your cycle can mean that your boobs are more tender, or feel different; skin might breakout etc etc....
4) It's easier and simplier arranging an appointment with the local family planning clinic or your GP and getting your Pregnancy test done FREE!

i can totally sympathise. i am now 16 days late, i have done 3 home tests and they have been negative . i had a blood test done yesterday and will get the results in a weeks time. i've had similar symptons, contatant feeling like i'm going to come on, nausea but my boobs aren't sore or tender. i would advise getting a blood test to be sure. Good luck!

hi there
i have very irregular periods and very short ones, i also get severe period pains but no period, look into 'Asherman's Syndrome', i am currently going through the channels to see if i have it too. its all to do with scarring in the uterus, have you ever had a D & C, cos that is one possible reason for it.
Good luck

I'm 28 days. I've never been late, even through the most stressful times I can think of. I'm 27, very healthy and active. Sex occurred on days 11,12,13,14,15. Five days late now and still no period. On a normal cycle my breasts will be sore 2 weeks before my period and move 1.5 size up my normal size. The day before my period I will feel fatigued, nauseous, and all those pregnancy symptoms. That's how I know I will get my period the next day. When I do have my period, I cramp for 1.5 days on/off, but very manageable. This past month I began cramping on/off everyday for the past 2 weeks. Nipples were very sensitive and tingly. My breasts were sore but did not increase in size like usual. Today, my nipples are not as sensitive to the touch, and my breasts hurt primarily along the sides/armpit area. I've had an aversion to food (not like me at all--eating when not hungry), and will generally eat only when hungry. Have felt nauseous on/off for 1.5 weeks, though never throwing up. Light headed at times, and brain function has been foggy. I plan on getting a blood test after day 7 of missed period if the test still shows a negative.

Does anyone have similar experiences or wisdom to share?

My last period was late Feb it's now June 1st. In the last week, my breasts have been extremely sensitive. My body radiates heat so much, my husband can feel the heat coming off my body (so he tells me and I can feel it too) - i sleep with no sheets It's been difficult to sleep as any kind of movement is uncomfortable. I gingerly hug my hubby and I cautiously hug a pillow at night to ease the comfort. I'm now feeling nausea but not throwing up. I'm not as hungry. I've been having stomach cramps as if I was about to have my period - ovulating feeling. About a month ago, I took provera to try and jump start my period after waiting for almost 2 months for my period to happen and HPT was negative. It's June and no period. I get very tired easily now and I like to sleep, not nap, sleep. I'm going to buy and take another HPT but I already suspect that it will be negative like all the rest of the HPT I've taken in the last 2 yrs. My periods have been irregular since 2005 before that I knew when my periods would start. I started to see an infertility specialist to find out if I'm able to become pregnant, am I too late, or am I one of those who cannot get pregnant on my own. Either way, I haven't been able to take a FSH test to have my doctors figure this out (no recent menstrual cycle.) My OBGYN did some sort of test a couple of years ago to find out if I'm going thru early menopausal and I wasn't. Maybe my body has gone on high gear and decide that pre-menopause is happening now at 42. I have yet to discuss with the infertility doctor.

I have be communicating with the infertility doctor via email and it's time to give him an update. When I get some sort of answer or diagnosis, I'll share it.

It's so complicated to be a female!

Well ladies, This weekend I took 3 HPT and all shows that I'm positive. I've left a message with my doctor and infertility clinic to take the next steps - make it medically official that I'm pregnant. I've gone thru this before but it ended up being a miscarriage after 6 weeks. I'm older now and the risks are high. I'll need to get a blood test and then maybe an ultrasound to figure out how far along I am. I hate filling up my bladder with water - when I gotta go, I GO!

I pray for a healthy pregnancy.

I wish you ladies much luck in your research to find out what's going on with your bodies. I can understand the frustrations and not getting answers to help explain a lot of body reactions women go through.
