American tabloid superstar and Goodwill Dumbassador who had been stranded in her truck since Wednesday was found unharmed on Thursday night by search and rescue crews.
Angelina Jolie's truck got stuck in the mud in an opium poppy field about 15 miles south and east of Kabul, Afghanistan, where she has been on a low-profile PR visit.
"It was a needle in a haystack kind of deal," senior officer of the 666th Infantry Division Lt. Col. Bumpkin said.
The crews split up and worked toward the area of two different GPS coordinates where Jolie may have been. Heavy rainfall and blowing winds forced the searchers to turn around at about 10:30 p.m.
Early Thursday morning, crews set out again to find the actress. At about 6 p.m., opium poppy field workers saw flashing taillights and headlights in the distance. Searchers were then able to come in on tanks and rescue Jolie.
"I can honestly say through everything, the rain and everything we went through last night, I was pretty proud of the people that did show up out here to try and help and just be there as a friend and, I don't know, it's kind of crazy," Angelina mumbled.
