Before the laser, the technician usually shaves off the hair. The laser doesn't hurt a lot and it's very quick. I had the cooltip diode laser which is pushed against the skin to it works better than the lasers held above the skin. You need around 5-8 treatments and lasers work better on people with light skin and dark thick hair. after your treatment you may have some bumps but they go away in a few hours. What else, ummm, the hair eventually falls off the following few weeks. Every treatment takes off around 20% of the hair permently, that's why you need 5-8 treatments.
After the treatment you should not wax, you can only shave because the laser is 'attracted' to the dark hair follicle. when you wax, sometimes it removes the root so the laser is not able to kill the follicle. WEAR SUN SCREEN. you don't want your skin to burn more or get discolored.
Also, laser's don't work as well for people with blond/red hair (root/follicle is not dark enough) or people with tan/olive coloured skin (laser may burn your skin because it cannot differentiate between hair root and skin color). If you have tanned/olive skin the technician may prescribe you a creme to apply a few weeks before the treatment to lighten the skin so the hair follicles are easier for the laser to get.
I'm not sure how much the
bikini area is but upper lip is $100, legs are $600. Someplaces give students 50% off.
