Rice word is over used these days its personal veiw but was started as a term for cars with just wrong stuff done.. at a time when imports where going 2 ways performance. or show.. there would be cars doing just the wrong thing and looking like poo... some page called byransriceboy page started it.

The lady who said that ricing is creativity.... No, I really don't think so. In most cases, ricing is because the people doing the ricing want their car to look fast, the general consensus of all people on the internet says that ricing is an attempt to make a slow car look fast. We're not talking about that viper either. The designers of the viper would probably cry if they saw their work on that magnificent car, the paionstaking process of making the car beautiful, functional, and aerodynamic shot to hell because some idiot wanted it all chromed up and stupid looking. Ricing is not only ugly, but it decreases the perfomace of the car by increasing weight and drag. I know she might be a woman, but anyone who even remotely enjoys driving a car will agree with me when I say that she is in desperate need of mental help. I'm 17. Many guys my age like ricing. Ish. I hate it. My 16 year old girl friend has more guts than this lady does. I weep

So because you think its gaudy and don't do it, you assume that it reduces your cars ability? People mod their cars cause they want to for looks, speed, style, etc. Yes, putting a spoiler or a bodykit on a car is going to destory its quarter mile time and reduce ground power . Do yourself a favor and go to some modding websites and say this and they'll laugh at you. Like it was said before, some people like speed/power, some people like looks and show. So what?
