First, each of you need to relax. :)

Your stomach takes a LOT longer than your ears to heal. A typical belly ring can take 9 months to one year to heal. Go get some Hibiclens. This can be purchased at almost any drug store (if you are unsure, ask your pharmacist). It isn't very expensive and one bottle can last you almost the entire time. When you shower, step out of the water and put some hibiclens in your hand then lather it on to your belly button area. Move the barbell or ring around to get it in the piercing. Then thoroughly rinse moving the barbell or ring again. Do this at LEAST once per day for 9 months.

You should expect puss, blood and other foreign body fluids to be extracted. Your body views this object as a splinter and until the actual tissue around the ring heals (9 months +), it will continue to put up a fight and try to push it out.

Let me know your thoughts...this worked for me and I did not hurt nearly as bad as some of you have. The rock salt thing...I could see the advantage, but truly feel hibiclens by itself works wonders.

In case you are unaware to what hibiclens is, it is what surgeons and medical professionals use to sanitize themselves before operating on you.

Just some thoughts from a fellow belly girl....

hey girls...i'm 14 and i got my belly-button pierced about 6 monthes ago...they pierced and they put in a ring...i wanted a bar bell so i waited about 3 days and changed it....mine didn't get infected at all but it depends on the person...so my advice is just keep it clean and use the stuff they give you or cotact solution works real good (salene slolution)...and change it when you feel comfortable

you can change it after 6 months. and yes it sounds like it is infected. you need to clean it 2 times a day with water and epson salt mixture. keep your hands off of it. get some saline and clean it off in between cleanings. if it does not ge better go to the doctor or/and take it out.

Hi there,
I had the same problem with it hurting when I bend over, don't worry, its just part of the healing process!! It will take a couple of months or so to stop hurting. The crusty stuff is good, it means that it is healing. You need to clean it gently after a shower. Use a anti-bacterial soup. As for bactine being to strong, not so!! I was using it 3 to 4 time a day and it really did help. Also, you might try using a sea salt bath 1 to 2 times a day. That really helped. It does take a good 6 months to 1 year to heal. Be Patient!! And what ever you do, dont take out or change your jewlery for at least 6 months. that will only make matters worse or possibly an infection. I know that there are a lot a fun jewerly out there! Again, be patient. Its worth the wait!!!

I hope this helps and take care!!

Can I peirce again

Postby 111 » Sun Jan 02, 2005 10:07 pm

I had my belly button pierced about four months ago. I used sea salt to clean from the very first day twice a day everyday up until the last day when I took out my belly ring and let it heal back. I was told that it would take 8 weeks to heal, after I changed my belly ring a red bump appeared next to the top hole it turn red and began to bleed and leak puss. Then it seemed as if my skin between the ring began to shrink. The doctor tiold me if i didn't take it out it wouldn't heal. I have two questions

1. Can I peirce my navel again

2. What can i do to prevent this from happening again, and in the event that it does happen what should i do?
