over 25's hair

Postby seasoned on Wed May 14, 2003 5:27 pm

I don't know if any of you agree but I have come to the conclusion that hairdressers tend to make you have your hair cropped and shorter as you get older, over 29s. My hair has always been thick, below shoulder length and everyone said it looked great. Then, my hairdresser thought my hair was too "heavy" and decided to put layers in and I ended up looking like something out of Friends magazine.

No-one liked my new style apart from a couple of people and neither did I. I have since grown my hair long and straight with the help of GHDs and the comments I have had are great.

All my life, hairdressers have been trying to chop my hair and when I did it, it didn't look as straight, one length hair.

What do you think my older buddies

short grey

I'm not keen on, us i mean you "older" women with long hair, particularly when it's got greys in it, or is dry and older hair tends to be - even my hair is getting dryer and I'm only 27!. I think when hair is like that, it can really age a woman.

One reason I've decided not to grow my hair long anymore is, I've got some white hairs coming through - when your hair's shorter they're more easier to disguise without having to dye the whole head!!!

But hey that's me!

talked into it

I too was talked into a shorter do over a year ago. Think flicky outie hair. I was only 27 at the time but my hairdresser thought it would be more "me". Now it was a great cut but it aged me. I'm tiny and blonde and felt like a Peggy mitchell lookalike.

I'm now shoulder length with highlights much happier.

I also feel that when ever I go to the hairdressers my always gets a bit carried away and takes off more than I wanted. I was having a baby when I last went to the hairdressers she said I will take a bit more off than usual cause it will be easier when you have the baby. All I can say I look like convict, good job the baby doesnt have good eye sight yet Id frighten him.

Ever since I had my baby 14 months ago my hair is dreadful always falling out, gone limp, never holds a style. I have even been to a top strylist to get them to do something with it. Within a week of having it done it was rubbish again. It makes me want to hide my head anyone any idvice for me

You poor thing Pip. I reaaly feel for you. Babies can drain such a lot of vital minerals from you. Hair is very sensitive to this lack. Go see a GOOD naturopath (not a shonky, not a Dr.) and get a check of your mineral levels. There are some useful supplements you can take to restore vitality. Meanwhile, use a good conditioner EVERY day and get some really pretty hair accessories - alice bands, big clips, ribbons etc. It will make you feel you have something attractive to look at up there whilst the hair is repairing. PS I hope the bub has a fine crop.

I spoke my doctor about this. She agrees with the minerals idea. The main one is zinc. The best source, she says, is seminal fluid.!! Organic Zinc she calls it. "A shag a day keeps the gray away" she says. And its good for getting the figure back in shape after a baby too.

Just trawling the forum tricia your doctor sounds really cool can't imagine asking mine about limp greying hair and him giving me the answer, but I have no grey hairs so read into that what you want and as you said to Pip get the Vit/minerals from supplements and then top up from the man station

I think long hair makes you look younger, more beautiful and appealing. While shortening it means getting older and this-related stuff.
I was surprised to read sesonds' message that her hairdresser was saying that cruel thing. She/He must have been jealous or stupid that time....
