I have also trained as a midwife and can tell you that headaches are common in pregnancy however I would not use this as a diagnostic tool. Early pregnancy symptoms include, nausea, vomiting, metalic taste in the mouth, bloatedness feeling, extreme tiredness and a tendancy to go completely off foods that you normally like. The most common are frequency in passing urine and of course a missing period. If you have these other symptoms particularly the missing period then take a test. If you find you are pregnant that could explain your headache.
