Perseverance is the answer to the removal of hair extensions!!

Have you tried the orange oil, acetone, you could try one or the other of these.

GL hair extension removal

Postby cnoel » Mon Jan 29, 2007 8:48 pm

My stylist who attached them told me to try washing my hair and letting it soak with Head and Shoulders shampoo will begin to dissolve the polymer bonds. It's worth a try - it sounds nicer than alcohol and pliers at least.

i used to have gl extensions and found them the best that ive ever had! i never lost one bond, had no shedding and my own hair wasnt damaged at all when i had them removed after 6mths (i had regular maintenence inbetween time) my hair was in better condition than before i had them in!
yes the glue is rock hard but this to me was a big plus as i could wash my hair everyday, didnt matter if conditoner went on the bonds, went swimming in sea, could go to bed without tiying my hair back the list goes on,it was like my own hair in every respect!

when i had them removed with the gl bond remover they just slid out,you have to remember with this brand you have to use there product or you wont get them out without loads of agg and maybe bald spots!!
the only problem with gl is that unless you have done there extension course you cant buy there products hence why salons can charge loads for extensions with gl.
if the price tag wasnt so offensive id still have them now but im afraid its back to fusion and hairy socks through shedding!!!
looking into cinderella extensions as they will sell to jo public and are suposed to be as good as gl,but again get there remover!!

heyy omg well i have those extensions too i thought they were so cool at first and then like 2 weeks later i started to get knots i was so tired of them and the best thing is vinegar and then wash your hair with dishsoap so the smell can come out and then with your regular shampoo and conditioner !!

removing hair extensions

I have read through these problems and I am horrified. Extensions cost a lot of money and well applied (using any system) they should do the job.
Unfortunately there are too many people out there with no idea except how to rip people off. It is too late for most of these people BUT always got to a salon so you have recourse under the law and always find out exactly what they are doing.

Clearly some people are using the wrong materials for the glue. The right stuff is easily removed and you shouldn't get any tangles or hair damage. I am a supplier of hair to the trade. I do not supply any of the companies mentioned but have years of experience with hair extensions in the US and UK

Ok everyone !!

I have the solution that would fix and get rid of this problem very easily !!!
forget about all these solutions its still harsh on your hair.
I had extentions in my hair with keratin and was oversease when I had them removed .
Suprisingly they used this amazing product that easily removed my extentions in less time without pulling or ruining the hair but again removed instantly !!!!!

cheers ..

I've been using Great Lengths for years now and wouldn't use anything else. Yes they are expensive but as most things in life you get what you pay for. As for removing the extensions, you need to go to your salon as they have the Great Lengths removal solution and it removes them instantly with no pain or damage to your hair. I suppose if you try to remove them at home you are going to have problems as Great Lengths don't sell to the public.

I am a hair stylist and all though great lengths are beautiful they are extremely hard to remove the advice given above is the best option considering the alternative is cutting them out. and why would we wanna do tht when the purpose of extensions is to get length...

RebeccaNan wrote:Hi I just wanted to reply to the Great Lengths Removal, I've done Great Lengths for 5 years, and have a solution formulated to remove the bonds for my clients, and professional removal is recommended! In a bind, you can use Alcohol, 90 percent is going to work the best, you can use isopropyl, or even pure grain alcohol (the kind you can drink) saturate the bond, and then smash the bond with a needle nose plier (make sure the plier doesn't have a wire cutter on the inside, it will cut your hair), the bond will break down to a powder, and be released out of the hair, I removed my last set this way in front of the T.V.

Hi,
I also wanted to say that I, up to recently, had Great Lengths hair extensions for almost 6 months. The best advice I found was from the above quote. I used less than 125ml of Isopropyl to take off a full head of extensions with no pain and very very minimal damage to my own hair, if any. I used a bottle which had a pump top, sprayed twice directly onto the bond then used a pair of flat nosed pliers to crush the bond... my boyfriend actually took off most of the back ones which I couldn't see/reach, and we know how rough guys can be, but I was no less comfortable if I had done those myself... it was so easy! Just make sure you crush the bond fairly well, hold onto the base of your own hair near your scalp, then with your other hand, gently pull the extension away... just crush the bond a bit more if it doesn't slide out easily. My full head of extensions took approx 2 hrs to remove, in the comfort of my own home watching the tv, NO SALON NECESSARY. And my own hair? Just needed a short 'baby' trim to even out the wispy bits, as I would've needed even if I didn't have the extensions!

Removing hair extensions is such a serious isssue and they must be done properly.

There is a new product on the market called Take Down Remover Cream for Fusion(keratin bonds) Extensions and Weave bonding hair glue. It really is effective in getting the excess glue off your hair or scalp and it doe not make your hair thin after all the extensions are out.

Also if you leave your extensions in tooo long and your hair gets a matted at the roots, the Take Down Remover detangles your hair from the tangled extensions. We really have to SAVE our hair and rusing to take extensions out is definetly not the answer.

I had Great lengths in for about four months. NEVER have them in any longer. Everything was great until about the fourth month and my hair started dreading. I went in to get a root touch up and I was told they need to come out. I had them taken out. My hair stylist was so agressive, I had extreme breakage to my fine thin hair. I can take them out by using 70% Isoalcohol I would recommend a higher percentage if you can get it. find some pliers that have teeth to break the bond. You will not PULL or cut with the pliers all they are needed for it to squeeze the bond in different directions. the bond will break down in a powder. The extension is easy and effortless to remover its the residue of the bond the stylists became agressive with. She kept teasing and combing out the residue which was like gum in my hair. She did more damage than the extensions ever did. I wish she just would have just kept breaking the bond of the residue. To beware: the Great Length extensions are great it's keeping them in too long and having an impatient stylist to remove them. I will remove them myself next time after three months. Good luck!

dont listen to all these people saying bad things about great lengths. not only are they the biggest extension company in the united states but they are the biggest in the world...that kinda says alot. the reason all of you are ruining your hair is because they are supposed to be removed at a salon by a certified professional with gel remover. the gel remover crystalizes the bond and turns it into a powder. this is not sold to the public in any way, so i suggest if u dont want to ruin your hair spend the money and get them removed the right way.
