Shaving Pubic Hair - question for girls!

Postby babydragon on Wed Jan 04, 2006 11:34 am

Hey girls, not sure if this is the right place for this, but here goes.
My b/f loves my pussy to be completely shaven, but I'm having serious issues with ingrown hairs.
Any advice on what others of you do to avoid this, or am i best off giving up and waxing?

I get waxed every 3 weeks professionally. Its a real killer. I make my BF pay the cost. Each time it grows back, it is finer. In reality that should make the next visit easier - but it never does!! Its nice not to have the ingrowing hairs though.

Hm...about five years ago I waxed, and had ingrown hairs, so I gave it up. I just started waxing at home and am having the same issues. I am considering going professionally, maybe it makes a difference. I might be weird, but don't assume that waxing will fix the problem. :?

There's always laser epilation. First treatment will get most of it. The next 5 treatments are simply to zap the missed (dormant) hair follicles. (Gross oversimplification, but that's it in a nutshell.)

Try using Sally Hanson depilitory lotion. It's very gentle, and mentions on the back that it can be used in sensitive areas (even the face, if you're so inclined!) I have really sensitive skin, but I can use this stuff everywhere. :)

as i mentioned in another topic...i also used to shave and got sick of the painful ingrowns and the itchiness...but i started doing waxing...brazilian waxing (the wax everything from your lips to your ass)...the first time was hell!!! The girl waxed me RAW!!! Can you imagine how much that sucked? But then I went to another place that are reknown for being quick, efficient and clean...i love it now...it grows back much slower and finer...no more in grown hairs! Plus it is sooo smooth my boyfriend loves it!!!!!

There is no doubt that it hurts...but it should not hurt afterwards...waxing hurts only while they are doing it after you should be fine...you may have some minor soreness...but no irritation....

Here is a few helpful hints...go after your period ends...it is less painful...also pop a few asprin before you go in...some places offer numbing creams to put on before hand to ease with the pain...

Ok...instead of starting a new topic I may as well continue on this one...

Pubic Hair...Im trying to find a way that works for me after exhausting most methods!

Hair removal cream just seems to be rubbish, it never seems to get them all out and sometimes not even down to the skin which doesnt leave me with a nice and smooth region!

Waxing strips...dont even get me started! Ive got the ones for home use and they're rubbish too...just to point this out im not some sort of gorilla down there they just dont seem to take any out....and yeh im scared to go and have it done professionally in case I have something im not supposed too! :-) dont ask me what lol!

Shaving works but as I have sensitive skin i get the horrible rash. If I leave it for a few weeks then shave its perfect but once I try to keep that up it all goes ingrown and rashy and it hurts.

So basically what are the best tips? Do you shave in the direction of the hair (i.e down) or against the direction of growth? Also how do most people shave their actual genitalia? I have the disadvantage of having a shower cubicle so whenever I bend down too much to be able to see that bit my head knocks the door open :-) What does anyone suggest for the area around the anus as I get the occasional hairs there (I was worried about mentioning those but I read on another post that someone else had them so now I dont feel as embarassed!)

How often should you shave or have these treatments?

What should I shave with? As I have sensitive skin I cant use foam etc..

A lot of question there but with the range of knowledge in these rooms im sure I can find something that works!

Thankyou!!! Katie xx

problems with ingrown hairs and waxing

Postby vickyhays on Tue Feb 07, 2006 6:25 pm

Can anyone advice or help??

I have been having a brazilian wax fot the last 12months now. It doesnt last as long as I thought it would, and the ingrown hairs are unbareable!

I used to shave but the stubble rash was terrible, hair removal creams are cr*p, so I now get waved. As the hairs have got finer, they dont grow up through the skin as they should, so tend to grow back down! Which results in a red spot, and at the worst a smallish bump, that can get infected, or fills with blood. Looks like a "blood pinch" under the skin.

I exfoliate the area, and have tried leaving the hair to grow longer B4 waxing, nothing seems to help. Any ideas??

Vicky

I know the thread said the questions were for the ladies, but as a guy with experience in these matters, let me ask you, does your esthetician provide any lotion after the area has been waxed? When I got my waxing done, mt esthetician always used a post treatment moisturizing lotion on every cm of waxed skin. Any tenderness from waxing was soon dissipated, and I never got any nasty ingrowns. I would inquire into lotions and post treatment care options. If he/she doesn't provide something two thoughts come to mind...first, get a new salon, second carry a small bottle with you so you can get the lotion in place as quickly as possible. Don't use any product that contains mineral oil, as that chemical actually DRIES out your skin. A good salon will have quality products to help prevent the rash and ingrowns. bikini Zone and Tend Skin are also great at treating these problems. You can google them and get websites for purchase if you want.
