I think its absolutly disgusting putting holes through a childs ears so young! And before you say anything, im not some 60yo im 23 with 2 children of my own! If you want to take a "fashion accsesorie" around with you then buy a doll! Grow you ! And to the original poster, whos daughter is she? yours or your friend! seems your "so called" mate is actually to scared to get it done by herself, so is trying to drag you in to it with peer presure!

+1
I saw a little baby with hoops through her ears yesterday and it looked so common.
Poor little girl it wasn't her fault that her mother had dressed her up like that Vicky Pollard would have off Little Britain.
Ok in other cultures it is the norm but in this country it just looks chavy when you have hoops dangling out of babies ear lobes.
You expect to look up and see a 15 year old mother dressed in Nike with a fag dangling out her mouth and usually you see just that in the UK lately.

I say wait until shes old enough to answer the question DO YOU WANT THEM PIERCED

I had my ears pierced when I was a baby and when i grew older (about 6-7) I realized I didn't even LIKE having my ears pierced, and I just decided to stop wearing them. It was a waste of time, and money.

So wait till she can say whether or not she wants them is my advice.

I actually found that quite distressing to watch, especially the second one Dipsy posted.

It's actually made me more determined not to let my daughter have her ears done till she's much older :?

Since birth my mom always encouraged me and my brother and sister to have 'natural beauty'. She said the whole dying hair, make up, ear piercing can wait when we grow older, when we no longer have natural youth beauty. Because of that I am now 19 years old, never dyed my hair/curled it or whatsoever, haven't pierced my ears or painted my nails...etc and I love it! I feel so natural and special. ^^

An interesting comment that you feel special because your ears are not pierced.

Both my sister and I had our ears pierced when we were little babies. Neither of us remember anything about getting them pierced, but we both remember feeling special as little girls because we could wear earrings before any of our friends could.

What are all these mothers doing? You are so irrsponsible and cruel having your kids ears pierced. Its cruel and pain for the child not you.
You just think it looks cute but babies look cute without stupid chavvy earrings through their ears. I had it done when i was about 6 or 7.
I wasnt too young because it was my decision and i didnt feel the pain.
Babies are too young to have their say. These babies are not dollys and toys they are REAL. They feel pain. You mothers that have your kids ears pierced should be ashamed of putting them through such pain just for YOU to get the beneifts out of it. The child cant exactly say they like it.
They are only babies. Stop being so irresponsible and start oving your child without stupid accesories.

ear piercing for baby girls

I cannot understand what all the fuss is about - I had my daughter's ears pierced when she was six months old and my son's left one done - also at six months. A friend of mine had both her son's ears pierced at six months but my partner and I have decided to keep our litle boy with just one till he gets older. We have had no problems and the children look really cute with their earrings. My daughter thinks it is great that her little brother wears a little gold stud.

I'm sorry but a stud in a little boys ear especially just sounds so Chavy. :?

ear piercing for children

Lots of parents are now taking their little boys to have an ear pierced just like millions of little girls have it done when they are babies. It is now becoming much more popular and we are not the only parents we know to have made this decision for our son. He can always take it out when he is older and is playing games, going to school etc.

I would never get my six month year old daughter's ears pierced untill she wanted them done. However, a baby the same age as Ella at our mother's group recently got them done and there is a toddler on our estate who wears small hoops. If they are pierced as a baby I only like the small studs. I agree that hoops look common.

I am a firm believed that baby girls should have their ears pierced. It just looks so sweet to see them with earrings. As I posted on the thread 'Piercing and boys', I grew up with pierced ears, and always knew any daughter of mine would have her ears pierced.

As I posted on the other thread, I did have the twins ears pierced. We did go on thursday just after I left my previous message, and I decided to check out the place in Romford I had been told about because it was a lot closer to home. If they couldn't have done them we would still have been able to get to Watford that day - I was just desperate to try and get Lacey's ears pierced as soon as I could. Despite this I was still nervous (I seemed to be chain-smoking to calm my nerves), but there was no way I was going to change my mind.
When we got there the shop was fortunately fairly quiet, and I asked about ear piercing. However the assistant I asked wasn't too sure if they could do it, and so we had to wait until the other girl had finished serving someone else. This seemed to be the longest 5 minutes of my life. Fortunately she said that if we wanted them pierced she would do it, she didn't mind.
I chose the earrings - a gold stud for Ryan, and Gold studs with a CZ centre for Lacey - from the side they look just like a normal gold stud. I sat down with Lacey and she had her ears cleaned and marked for piercing. The gun was then loaded and I remember looking at the stud in the gun and thinking of it going through Lacey's ear. Her right ear was pierced first, and she hardly made a murmur. After her left ear was pierced though, you would have thought it was the end of the world with her crying and screaming. However it only lasted for about 30 seconds, and then she calmed down. She looked so lovely though with her ears pierced. We were asked if Ryan was having both ears pierced or just one, but I decided to just have his left ear pierced.
Again everything went well, only that after he had stopped crying, Paige started - I dont know if she thought she was having her ears pierced again. I was so pleased to have the twins pierced despite what others think, and asked how soon they would be able to pierce Lacey's ears a second time. The girl said if we really wanted it she would try and do them straight away, but it would be best to leave it until her ears are healed and we can take her earrings out to make the holes closer together, and so to come back in about 4-5 weeks. I am quite happy to wait until then to get Lacey's ears double pierced, and explained that I would probably have Ryan left ear done again and a first hole in his right ear at the same time. the girl asked if Paige was having her ears pierced again then, and I explained that I hadn't thought about it - I dont think she had realised that Paige already had double pierced ears. When she realised she said that she could do a third hole but I said that I would see.
Since then I have been thinking of getting Paige's ears pierced again - most baby girls/toddlers where we live have got pierced ears, and there are several that are double pierced, so it would be nice to get Paige's ears pierced again. The twins have been absolutely fine since having their ears pierced - the only thing is that the back of the earrings show because their ears are so small, and the studs are longer than their ears, so the fronts stick out a bit - you can see the posts going ino the ears. Anyway I am delighted that I have had them pierced, and would definately do the same if we have any more children, and at least i've only got a few weeks till I can get them pierced again. Anyway I must go - Lacey has just woken up and is crying - speak soon again.
