The small piece on the Asian community of
KZN is very misleading. Durban (Ethekwini) and environs, have a large and fascinating population of Asian extraction. They are landowners of sugar plantations, police inspectors, top surfers, small holders, peasant farmers as in India, cricket fanatics, followers of popular station Radio Lotus, cinemas specializing in Bollywood, huge markets of the typical traditional type. And a suburb called Chatsworth. Full of handsome guys and beautiful girls!!

A favourite method is to open the passenger's door at the traffic light, and the new passenger persuades you that your wallet is leaving NOW -

One couple from London - they brought a car very quickly - public transport is said to be abysmal and unsafe.
Other people use most of their time 'running the children around' - Nightclubbing in a party of two is inconceivable.

South Africa is lovely - prices are dirt cheap - meals for very little - . . but security is a big issue - people living in 'Compounds' of houses with security walls around there.

I wouldn't want to live there - too worried and looking over one's shoulder.
