As a person that has been horribly depressed about my marks for nearly half of my life, to a point where I could not bear to look in the mirror for fear of having a very bad day; I cannot tell you how liberated I feel since I have been actively working on removing my stretch marks. If those out there want to be pessimistic then please feel free. But, I have to tell you being on the side of optimism is so much more rewarding because you reach a place where you can find a solution and improve your outlook on yourself and your life because you take charge. It is soooo much more rewarding to be in a place of optimism and responsibility for removing my marks than being in a place of negativity. Nobody is going to tell me that I cannot attain whatever I put my heart and soul into. There will always be downers out there who say that you cannot do something, but as a person who has defied odds and seen so many people whom have defied the odds too, I know, once you make up your mind, you will find the way to achieve it. We make our lives what they are, write the stories of our lives, I am not willing to live with something any longer that causes me such pain. So, I have chosen to find the solution to remove my marks. Even if I do not completely remove my marks (which I am finding hard to believe after all of my progress), what I have accomplished with my skin at this point is so rewarding, and I know I will continue to see the rewards. I am soooo much happier now with the appearance of my stretch marks, I just do not understand why I did not do this sooner. As long as you stay optimistic and proactive you will greatly improve your stretch marks and your life. Understandably, we have moments of weakness and this is totally normal, but stay positive because believing in what you do is just as important as doing it! I consider us to be the pioneers of stretch mark removal, and naturally, people will say that you cannot do it, but that never stopped the pioneers from attaining success. I am living my life to the fullest and part of that is caring for my skin and removing my marks, and by proclaiming this I have improved my stretch marks, skin, body, and life immensely! All the Best! CR

Just thought I would give an update, I have done a peel on my lower legs, which is almost finished peeling now and I have to say that tca is absolutely brilliant at reducing the marks. Now, I am not saying they have gone yet, but I cannot believe that if I do 3 or 4 peels on my lower legs they will not be gone, they have reduced so much already. I just want everyone who is using GA to consider buying a low strength tca peel and trying it for a couple of months on one area to see if they get results, if not they can continue with GA. I will never go back to using GA again though, because there is no way it is anywhere near as good as TCA. Obviously though if you do try it make sure you pick a test area that you can cope with problems if you have some sort of adverse reaction. And please stick to low strength tca.

J

Hi J,

I've been using glyc and not going on to to TCA for fear of hyperpigmentation (I've got brown skin, same as you), just wondered if you've experienced any hyperpigmentation since starting on the TCA?...

Thanks,
S

Hi S

Yes I do get a bit of hyperpigmentation, but no more than I got using a strong GA solution. I would rather live with hyperpigmentation than stretch marks though, as for me it is a less embarrassing problem.

Hyperpigmentation seems to clear up on me after a month or two anyway, but even if it doesn't like I said, I would rather live with that than live with the marks.

Marie Clarie article

Postby Guest15664 on Mon Jul 21, 2008 2:54 pm

Hi everyone

Like most of you I've got SM's. They simply started appearing from age 13, inner/outer thighs, bum, and hips. I was size 8-10, fit and healthy. My skin is olive tone, so these thin white lines all over my body make me look horrible. I use to love swimming, not for the last 13 years, i am now 26.
Anyhews, the other week I picked up a copy of Marie Clarie and saw this article, and as many of you, thought for a moment there may be HOPE.
Thus, I thought I'd see if any of you have tried this AccentXL treatment which is 'suppose' to GET RID of sm.

Many thanks for any feedback in advance.

Lets not give up ladies!!

Mai -

the no sugar diet should help your skin immensely - not sure about the marks but *may* prevent new ones. I read a book which explained that basically sugar causes cross-linking of the collagen, so anything to minimise that should keep the skin looking good (protein/fats/complex carbs).

Personally, now I'm fully recovered I couldn't do without the odd bit of chocolate - and by chocolate I mean the wicked milk variety ;)

I keep wanting to give up caffeine (potentially raises cortisol - a causer of stretch marks)... but no matter how many times I try I eventually return to it...it's just sooooo nice. It may be the sweetener I'm addicted to more though..... (another baddie).

I'm sorry the carboxy didn't help :( Very sorry. And I hope the CPs & acids do something for you (though they didn't for me) & I agree re: the picture of the woman with SMs & TCA burn marks - I didn't see any difference either - more's the pity :(

Re: Acell - I've posted before about it - my dad's a vet and has some & reckons it's not that good..... I'd still like to try it but he wont let me!

Hi everyone!

I'm an old poster just coming back to check in.

After a few months of not reading I came back to many pages! Since my last post I have done nothing, no Glycolic peels, CP, nothing.

I was looking at the marks on my breasts and noticing that they have KIND OF faded. Now, I don't know if this is because I used to use the Glycolic on them so much before, or fading with time, or maybe because I lost some weight so they look better?

But...I thought, the ones on the front of my thighs are the ones that bother me so much right now, so I decided to pull out the Glycolic and start again.

I use 50% Glycolic from PlatinumSkinCare, leave it on for 20 minutes, wash it off and then apply Trireduction and Emu Oil.

After reading many of the posts I see people doing different things with the Glycolic. So...is what I am doing not going to be effective? I see people who leave on the Glycolic all night long. I can't even do the peel every night otherwise my skin will start to get irritated. I think in the past I was doing it 3 times weekly.

To be honest, after reading everything, I don't think this is going to be enough. Especially when people are using TCA.

So, if I continue with the GA -- how long should I leave it on for? If I leave it for any longer it itches like CRAZY and I can't stand it. But then I read someone who said to neutralize it immediately with CP/Emu oil and then leave it overnight.

If you neutralize it, doesn't that mean it's not actively working? So, what's the point of that?

You may want to reconsider the no sugar diet for a few reasons.

1. Even if you stop eating glucose any carbs are eventually broken down into simple sugars. You would basically have to go on an atkins type diet which uses ketones as a prime energy source and is pretty questionable long term (there haven't been enough people doing this long term to really judge it, and its a brutally hard diet to stick to). You could stop eating sugar, candy, etc. and your body is still going to produce plenty of glucose from vegtables, fruit, bread, basically anything except unprocessed meat.

2. Cross-linking skin is absolutely necessary. Vitamin C is a modified sugar and is necessary to cross-linking collagen. You're not going to be able to heal your skin this has been proven over and over again with vitamin C deficiency and massive burns.

3. Glucose actually promotes wound healing. Studies have shown that giving a patient IV glucose increase the effectiveness of skin grafts. Giving insulin + glucose improved it even more (insulin is dangerous so don't plan on playing around with it).

There's a rediculous amount of medical advice you can find on the internet. Most of it is just myths. All in all, common sense is a good guide and balance is a good plan.

RK & Kojiro,
thank you so much for all your advice, it really is appreciated. I will reconsider the sugar-free diet. I would consider the raw food diet but I don't think its possible while I live overseas and anything i bought like nuts would be cooked. also, its best to cook your food as much as possible in some countries...lol.

I didnt know about caffeine, I drink a lot of green tea, but I dont think that has enough to be detrimental, or so i hope.

Kojiro - hows your routine going? I know you have been at this for a while so what kind of success are you seeing? have you been able to get any of them to go away completely?

Hey J

Am sure you must have said this before, and am just being a bit dozy, but what creams/oils do you apply after the tca i.e. when peelin/after peelin?

It won't cause anything serious if you know what you are doing! Which basically revolves around showing some common sense!

I apply olive oil, but the best thing to apply would be emu oil and copper peptides according to popular opinion, however I never found that copper peptides did anything much for my skin when I used them.

Just a quick question: I typed on Google "scar miracle" (lol, you can tell I'm very optimistic!) and it gave me some results including a site with a product called Skinderma Pro. The reviews on the site seem very good, but I'd like to have some independent reviews before I go and buy it?? It's not that cheap. Anyone know anything about it??

By the way, I've just started taking the Murad stretch mark supplements (£99.50) for a month. Let's see if it does something...
