Hi!
Yes I did have a lasting improvement. The stretchmarks did not improve much in terms of reduction of size or change of colour (they are white/silver), but the texture of the skin did improve (became softer and more "blended" with the healthy skin surrounding them, where before I had horrible ridges and the skin was paper thin) and that did last.

Have just done the first peel and so far healing up nicely...Had forgotton how much CP's STING!!! OW!

how long did you do the peels for in order to get the result you achieved?[/b]

I bought a dermaroller about 5 months ago (1mm). I use it maybe 1-2 times a week. I can't say that I have seen much improvement from the roller. I'd save your money.

I ran out of my glcolic acid so I'm going to give my skin a break for a few weeks. I'll still use my roller and castor oil myself a couple times a week. And of course exfoliate every day in the shower.

I'm going to see my derm the 10th of October after which I'll start on TCA. I have tons of questions for him!

Re: Dermarollers.

To those of you who are either currently using a dermaroller or thinking about doing so, it would behoove you to keep this in mind:

Current research indicates that dermarolling is effective only as a means with which to get certain chemicals to penetrate more deeply into the skin, apparently the theory before, that simply pricking the skin is enough was wrong.

This is according to the dermatologists at a very large chain of skin clinics in Thailand (apex beauty if you are so inclined to look it up). I don't know if they are a reliable source but the people who I have heard of who says that needling has worked for them always coupled it with the application of something else.

Hi all,

I'm a long time reader of this board, although I haven't posted before.

I've got a lot of stretchmarks all over my body but really want to focus on getting rid of/improving the ones on my lower abdomen/breasts.

The products I'm using at the moment are Retin-A (evening), Trireduction w/ Retinol (morning) and occasionally a blend of essential oils inc jojoba and neroli, and a Nivea firming lotion. I also exfoliate using a body brush or microdermabrasion cloth.

I haven't got a solid routine yet but I was wondering what particular products or methods people have used that have had a significant impact on the elasticity of the skin, as that is what I would like to improve mostly (at first anyway). I put on and lost a lot of weight a couple of times in a fairly short space of time about 5 years ago which has left the skin on my lower abdomen very slack and stretched out, and the marks on my breasts are from a growth spurt when I was about 11, which have also resulted in pretty slack skin.

The marks on my abdomen are a mixture of big, deep, vertical ones and small, shallower, horizontal ones. Strangle, it actually looks like the smaller ones are what are affecting the elasticity of the skin more than the big ones.

I know that some people say the only way to get rid of this is through surgery but, at the moment, that isn't an option. I know TCA peels are supposed to help with this; however, due to my skin tone, I'm not sure if I could use this. I'm of mixed Indian/European heritage and have medium brown skin, although the areas where I'd want to use the peel are actually a fair bit lighter than the rest of me.

If anyone could share what they've found helpful with regards to this, I'd be really grateful!

Many thanks,

Sarah

i have actually been using my dermaroller with trilastin cream i do see some improvemnt in the areas, but in the last two months when i started my dermaroller / trilatin routine i also lost about 15 pounds i am 5'2 so 15 pounds is alot for my size i now weight 107 i do not think that any stretch marks have actually disappeared but the skin is a bit softer. i do not know if this is because i lost the weight or if it is because of the dermaroller / trilastin combination. As far as trilastin goes i did not see any result like they have on the website.
i think those photos are photo shoped or something. my marks are still there none of them disappeared also i am thinking my softer skin could be because i am moisturizing it 3 times a day? either way i am starting to think trilastin is a waste of money. if you are going to try it out at least they have 60 day money back guarantee i am going to return the product it did not do anything like the website promises.

queen of peels....

how long did you do the peels for in order to get the result you achieved?[/b]

I seem to remember having done strong peels at regular intervals for about three months. Is the short answer. The long answer is that I was peeling EACH stretchmark (bearing in mind I have very wide, long ones that are well defined) with verruca acid (and removing the flakes - it "frosts" over - with a foot file), then whacking on copper peptides (- the strong variety - thus the sting) then after a few days a scab would form and I would wait for the skin to heal more or less completely (discounting a bit of discolouration) while applying CPs regularly. Then I would peel again. In all a peeling cycle would take me about a couple of weeks... After three months I got sick of the hasstle and also began to think that my routine was a bit too harsh: I also read somewhere that this method is more effective if you leave at least a month or so between peels for it all to heal up.

But still: I hate my skin SOOO much. not only do I suffer from stretchmarks, I also have adult acne, flakey skin on my face sensitive skin on my legs that gives me razor-bumps from hell etc etc all stuff that, nearing 30, I would have hoped to have resolved by now! Oh and I am taking a new contraceptive pill called Yasmine - I am sure I can feel an itching at the back of my knees and I know this means extra stretchmarks - i twould seem I am cursed to grow these sfuckers for the rest of my life...GRRRRRR

It's as if you described myself queenofpeels, I not only have stretch marks, I also have adult acne, get rashes and razor burns all over my body, I'm also nearing 30 (I'm 27) and taking Yasmin for acne! lol At least my acne seems to be under control since I started taking Spironolactone 4 months ago. I'd recommend getting it prescribed.

I'm planning to get DeepFX laser after Christmas. But before that, my mom bought me a cream called Rejene and sent it to me to use, in my country they run 30 min commercials saying how effective it is in eliminating sm's and shrinking loose skin. I'm not so sure but I may give it a go for a couple of months... you can look it up on google.

Oh yeh, and progress report:
my first peel has healed up (that is, the scabs have healed) and I have put a coat of Glycolic acid 50% over the top, just to get rid of the last flakes. I will keep applying CPs' regularly (ca. 2x a day).
Can't see any improvement yet for sure, cos the marks are still a bit red and swollen. When they've gone down and if I find the time I will take pictures (I posted pics about a year ago with what they looked like then for comparison) if not I will give another progress report!!
Take care all,
xxx

Wow. Thanks for the tips will check those two out on google!! - Let me know how the deep fx goes - like I say I am planning on gettign a course of treatments with the harmony pixel laser (similar to how fraxel + deep fx works) am really hoping this will provide an answer (I don't hope to ever have un-stretchmarked skin, just something that improves them significantly rather than not at all would be nice!!)

please please someone have an update on the lasers.

my injections arent working. I cant believe it. I swear it is like i am in some nightmare.

I am thinking of getting laser skin resurfacing. I know that wont eliminate them and that I would still need another treatment of something else but right now I would be happy for them not to be SO deep. Does anyone know anything about this?
