as far as cleaning it i just purchased a bottle of alcohol and i pour it in a cup then dip the roller in it leave it in there for about a minite then rinse it with water. wait for it to dry and put it back in the container it came in. I dont think you really need any anesthetic try it for a bit with out it i find it to jsut be uncomfortable but its not like the pain is unbearable. You can also maybe take an advil or tylenol 30 minutes before you do it to reduce some of the pain. When i go get my legs waxed i take a tylenol 30 minutes before and it makes it hurt less.

I am very happy to report that my stretchmarks are finally 80% better. I wanted to thank all of you who recommended coolbeam an encouraged me throughout this. I had to do 6 treatments so far. But I am 100% happy I did it. here is the website for the doctor I went to:

I do not remember anybody on this forum recommending coolbeam or encouraging some Michelle to use it . Do you? I might be wrong but it looks like spam to me.

Hi

I am still doing peels, the marks are reducing each time but they have not gone completely anywhere yet. Some areas are very faint now though.

I use lower strength tca, mainly because I have brown skin, so I cannot risk the higher strengths. Then again, I think you could easily burn yourself with the higher strengths so don't know if it is really recommended to try them.

Basically I am treating large areas of my body and these are old old marks, so it takes time. Plus having to rest each area after the peel etc. I am still very very hopeful that this will completely remove them on me.

When I get rid of them from my lower legs I will post pics. Just keep your fingers crossed that it works because if it works on my tired old stretch marks it will work for a lot of other people too.

J

Hey Kojiro,
I went back 150 pages and read through the thread a little bit. You were using GA and Retin-A about a year ago. I wondered if you're still doing the same routine and if you have seen any improvement?

Have you used TCA? Would you recommend it?

I have difficulty reaching my marks, is there a place I can get TCA officially applied?

To those of you using TCA peels, if you are in a position to judge; is it having any effect on tightening the skin?

I had the Active FX done on my abdominal stretch marks last November. Maybe 50% improvement primarily to the texture. Not much improvement to the white/silvery color. The improvement was gradual over about a 6 month period. The same doctor now does Deep FX. Still on the fence on whether I'm going to do it or not.

I have said before that I am not a believer in peels for complete removal of stretch marks, but I do believe they help soften them (I tried it many years ago for a few months and saw no improvement). I am now going to a professional at a medical spa and having body peels done on them that contains 30% TCA and some other acids (can't remember what they are, but one is lactic). I've had 3 done so far at 3 week intervals. The medical esthethician who is doing them for me said that peels will not remove the marks, but there is a chance they could improve their appearance. Of course, I had to sign a form saying there is no guarantee. I told her about the folks here doing TCA at home. She said to be very careful.....good chance of causing more harm than good using straight TCA. She would not consider straight TCA on me, even in the medical environment.

I'll keep you posted.

its been mentioned many times that to be qualified to do chemical peels takes very little knowledge or training. personally to ask a "qualified" peeler whether whether or not peels work is little better than asking a random on the street. the parlor my exgrilfriend went to to get waxed also offered peels and after speaking to the girls that worked there i doubt they knew how to open their own front door let alone the complexity of stretch marks and how the various treatments effect them.

to become qualified in the art of chemical peels you need a spare day and an IQ of 10. just because they do this for a job, it doesnt mean they know what they are taking about one bit. yes they have a certain amount of experience but does that mean they know what effect the thing they are actually doing has on the skin....not at all. doctors, dermatologists etc etc dont necessarily know a lot on the very specific topic of stretch marks.
