I'm fed up with waiting for a miracle, I think I'm gonna try camouflaging my stretch marks for now until we get a definite cure. Around Xmas I'm gonna try permanent makeup on my sm's. It won't correct my texture but I'm not that bothered by it as by the silver shiny colour. Here's something I found:

Stretch Mark Camouflage.
The technique we use to re-pigment stretch marks is called Multitrepannic Collagen Actuation (MCA). It is a stimulation technique that causes your skin to respond by re-pigmenting itself. Once the skin is re-pigmented the color is permanent and will never need maintenance in the future. When you tan your stretch marks will tan along with the surrounding skin. During the winter as your tan fades your stretch marks will lighten along with the surrounding skin.

MCA is not a one time service. You will need to have several sessions before your stretch marks are camouflaged. How quickly your stretch marks re-pigment is dependant on how light-medium-dark your skin is and how well you follow your aftercare instructions. The average medium complexioned client will take 4 to 6 visits to re-pigment.

The website is this if anyone's interested: http://www.permanentmakeup.org.uk/medical.htm

Guest wrote:Hi all,

This is my first time posting but have been keeping up with this board for a few years now. I have stretch marks on most of my lower half - some are quite fine and others long and white, although luckily not too angry looking. The worst marks are on my hips, inner thighs, back of calves and bum. The oldest marks, on the backs of my calves, are over 12 years old - I'm not sure what caused them as I'm very slim but think it's probably a combination of the pill, being veggie and not getting enough protein and ill health for a number of years. I used glycolic acid for a while and tried the silkymitt sanding method before that but had no luck improving my marks - I still have a bit of hyperpigmentation from the sanding.

I started using TCA about a month ago, after following the glycolic method mentioned on page 410. I also bought my tca from nova peels on ebay - 50% which I've been diluting down to about 20% (I'm Indian so don't want to risk more hyperpigmentation). I've peeled the worst areas twice now and am planning my third peel for the weekend. It hasn't removed any marks yet, but after only two peels I can see a definite difference. My marks seem less deep and some seem to have broken up in places. When I run my fingers over them they feel much smoother, although this could be simply because the dead skin has been sloughed off. They generally seem diminished. I think it will take me at least ten more peels to eradicate them but I'm quite happy with that!

To the guest who also bought their tca from nova peels you will see peeling - my skin has been peeling around 7-8 days after applying just one layer of tca and that's just with 20% so I'm sure you'll get a better and more obvious peeling with 50% - it's not the most attractive sight but I believe the end result will be worth it. I don't know if you've visited it but nova peels have a website with a page about stretch marks with some photos of treatment (not the best photos but they still helped to motivate me). The website is:

a few months back i tried foot filing method along with trireduction frm skinbio and copper peptides on my calves( the oldest ones since age 13). in just 20-25 days they were almost gone. very fine lines ve remained bt the ones on butt are tough..they will take a few months i guess. rest i am doing glycolic these days so a long way to go..

hi,

just applied a peel on another area of my body, went all out with this one, just kept going over and over the area with thick applications.

i was just wondering how long everybody else is waiting inbetween peels? personally i feel like i could do a peel every 2 weeks, i mean my skin is generally completely healed after 2 weeks and thats with a thick 50% peel. i cant bear this long waiting inbetween peels and was wondering how long everyone else is waiting? i havent done a second peel on any area yet so any help or advice is much appreciated.

thanks

G,

It has been advised to wait like 3-4 weeks in between peels because it yields better results. I feel the same way though, my skin heels up relatively quickly after doing a peel. But I contributed that to doing very light peels, 50% is really a high percentage. I would wait a few more weeks if I were you.

LK,

Those are very good results. Why aren't you going to keep going with that method if it worked for you so well? Did you do the footfile everyday? I tried it a while ago and my skin was just too sensitive.

I hope everyone is having success.

I started off doing peels every two weeks or so, but now I wait four weeks for each area. I believe I get better results that way, the skin simply needs that time to repair properly.

I would also remain cautious about how much you put on. It is really really easy to go overboard with tca, so take it easy especially when using strong tca.

hey there,

well i just applied a peel the other day and at the moment its just very red, still gotta wait a few days for it to peel. My first peel which was a different area is fully healed. tbh im not sure what to make of it, i think i see improvment, feels slighly smoother maybe and less noticeable but its really hard to say. its hard to compare without being able to directly see both before and after right next to each other, but i do think there improvement, just not massive improvement. im going to carry on the peeling as i think it is helping.

thanks

Okay, I'm finally going to buy some TCA. Before I do, has anyone bought from Nova Peels? They seem reasonably priced but are they reputable? And I wonder about the quality of the product.

When I was reading through their information on tca peels, they said to only put the acid on the stretchmark and not the surrounding skin. I have too many marks to count and very little "normal" skin between the marks. What do you do J? Do you put the acid all over the normal skin too? And about what size of area do you do at one time?

Thanks for your help!

Hey, I bought my peels from them a couple of weeks ago. I live in New York, and it got to my house very nicely packed in 2 weeks like they said it would. The kit came with gloves and swabs in a little plastic bag container. I did my first peel last week in a very small area just to test it out. Some spots are peeling...some are not (not sure if I left it long enough). The parts that are not peeling feel like dry leather...hopefully it'll peel soon. There was a part that burned me a lot when I applied it. It's a bit brown...I hope that goes away.

I did another part today on my shoulders....It hurt a lot more this time though. I did Carboxy injections a month and a half ago and each of those holes were pretty painful..but it did frost over...I'll be back in another week to let you know how it's going with them.

i know the results are good. but i was doing it on my entire body..which required a lot of both trireduction and cps..so i ran out of stock. as i am in india i hav problems with getting the product shipped..so had to stop. it was just a try..got the products through some relatives in canada. the ones on the side of waist also broke on many places. what i was doing was first footfile gently and then put tri and later emu oil...and let me tell ya it really stinks for some while but its really worth the pain. somedays i skipped footfiling..bt the funny thng is the oldest ones reacted first.

I think someone at female first is helping out an emu oil company! This is the only place in my life I've ever heard of it.

Hi, does anyone think stimulation of a white stretch mark with a tattoo gun (without any ink) may give some improvements? I was thinking to have that technique called MCA, but since the area will be quite big (from knee to waist) I have a feeling it will be ridiculously priced (as usual with most stretch mark treatments). Tattoing sounds so similar to MCA and dermarolling -maybe even more effective- so I'd like to try it on one mark first and see how it goes, but I'd also feel embarrassed to ask a normal tattoo artist to needle my marks... What do you think?? I think I remember someone here in the earlier pages who had used a tattoo gun in her routine with success...
