I guess if you make a permanent dark mark there is stuff you can always do to get the colour back to normal if you can afford it...like IPL, yellow & green laser take colour out of skin...and if you only need a couple of shots it won't cost too much, less than $100, and it will only benefit the surrounding skin.

Yes, I think the "profractional" laser is similar to fraxel, just the newest version of it. I've had good results, so I think I'll continue with another 2 or so treatments on my arms and will probably use a dermaroller on another area (just pick a spot haha...)

I've seen the best result with the profractional with the last 2 treatments, so I have some hope. I'll keep you posted.

Has anyone ordered a dermaroller _? Any recommendation on where I should order from? Novapeels looks good, but a bit pricey. Who am I kidding, really, spending $375/per for fraxel..

G

p.s. thanks for the support J its just ive been doing the peels going on 4 months now and to see nothing is very disheartening. and on top of it all to get dark brown discolouration which isnt improving over the months is worrying me. it seems like im doing the peels in order to get nothing but a dark blotchy tan. im thinking of taking a single stretch marks and just covering that stretch mark in tca and leaving it on for a LONG time (well longer than i have been) in order to get it as deep as i can. ill choose a mark that is out of the way and if it scars or leaves dark pigmentation then i dont care because its just one stretch mark and its out of the way. im thinking just a single tiny mark.[/quote]

Hi

I think you have been doing way too many peels (was guilty myself of that at the start). Like you said pick one or two marks and just try it on them, but leave it at least 6 weeks between peels. I would dilute the tca too if I were you. I know how hard it is to deal with discoloration but you have to look beyond that and try and look at the actual mark, depth, width etc. You said originally it was improving the marks, if that is the case it will likely remove them over time, if thats not the case then it may not be for you.

One thing I noticed that may help you decide. When I started doing peels on applying the solution the next day the skin would look akin to elephant hide (lots of damage in the skin). Now, 6 months later the skin is much much smoother the day after I apply the solution, like there is much less damage in the skin to treat. I really do think it works, but that may not be the case for everyone.

Dreaming of Porcelein,

I might try that next...(Fraxel/Profractional)..
Yeah the dermaroller I have found great, I got a Dr. Roller from ebay which wasn't too exy...less than $100 from ebay...my stomach looks quite different to a couple of weeks ago when I got it, the skin seems quite plumped up...I want to try some copper peptides next because I have read on this forum a bit back that that has worked for some ppl....I have used lots of creams I found ineffective...
the ususal suspects...bio oil, Loreal Stretchmark Eraser, Skin Doctor's, Palmers, Vitamin E cream, etc.but I will never give up, and I have seen a bit of improvement over the years.

Hi Dreaming of Porcelain,

I was just wondering what your marks were like, colour, depth etc
Also how much did the treatments cost and where did you go to have them done?

Thanks

Please keep us updated on your progress, guestie! :) Unfortunately I had to cancel my first appointment and I'll have to reschedule it for next month. They offer two options though, and I don't know which way to go... One is using ink and the other is just dry needling. Not sure which is the best. I may have to try both in small areas and see.
By the way, I've just started with some serrapeptase tablets (they supposedly eat scar tissue) so I'll let you know how it goes, even though I'm worried about my sensitive stomach, as you have to take them without food.
Finally, I had to mention a new techinique I was using on one of my marks which has showed improvement. I'll need some input from more members though because I am still unsure. Basically you take a pencil (without a sharp tip) and massage intensely your stretch mark until it becomes pink. After a while it will look swollen. This will go by the next day, but the pinkness may remain for a few more. Repeat again when the area looks normal again.Take it easy at first. I swear I could see improvement after a few times doing this. It looked better after leaving it for about 3 weeks during the Christmas holidays. Now the only time I see that mark is when I see the "ghost" of the mark under intense lighting. However I'm not convinced yet it's permanent so I'd like to have some feedback from other people if possible. Thanks! :)

The marks on my arms are from armpit to elbow - the worst place to have them in my opinion. They weren't too deep and had that silvery white tone - the ones in my armpit were slightly deeper than the rest.

I've had 4 treatments since the beginning of August 2008 and will likely have a couple more. I can't really see them when I'm looking straight down at m arms now, but I think my arms still look slightly "off" when I look in the mirror. The ones coming down from my armpits are probably half as deep and I can't even see some of them anymore unless I'm really looking.

The improvement is good, but It's disheartening that I still don;t feel "good enough" to wear a short sleeve shirt.

Treatments are about $375 each and I get them done at Aurora Laser and Vein Centre.

Hey Chic,

That is interesting, cause I was told by a very highly qualified beauty therapist that when the marks have blood in them (i.e. when they are red or pink) that they are a lot easier to treat, and that makes sense as to why when traumatised in some way -like rubbed with a pencil until red, they are getting blood to them, and then nutrients and other stuff...now don't laugh, but I actually tried sucking them with a vacuum cleaner head with the same idea in mind... oh I can't even help laughing at myself...I only did this once, but yeah am seeing great results with the dermaroller....I really need to take a picture or else im going to forget what they looked like before...I have only seen one picture on here & that was the guy with Cushings Syndrome....are there anymore I have missed and will anyone else post pics? I do find they give a lot of encouragement to keep doing a routine...spending $$ and putting up with a bit of pain.

I was told the same thing by a technician in the past! But I hadn't achieved getting them pink then, only now with the pencil. I also got a couple of blood droplets, but it's not painful really, just a little uncomfortable. It'd be interesting what other people get with this technique!
Just two days ago another person in a different forum reported good results in old white marks with a dermaroller. I've got one but I've only used it a couple of times since I can't handle it very well. However this also makes me more excited to go for the dry needling as a method of permanent makeup. I'm gonna give my pencil method another ago tonight, since it's been a while. Fingers crossed! :D

Yeah I have only had the dermaroller for two weeks, have been using it every day I guess ( have had a couple of days of non=use) when I couldn't face the needles and have seen quite good improvement....my sms ( well the ones I hate most) are on my stomach in a web shaped pattern from pregnancy, there are heaps and it almost makes my stomach looked deformed, you could hardly see my bellybutton because the skin was just hanging, ( I used to have almost a 6pack before my pregnancy) but that was 13 years ago now...so yeah they are white, and I have noticed the skin is a lot tighter, the marks are loosing their ridges and filling in from the bottom up to nearly make them level with my normal skin...the colour also seems to be blending a lot better with my skin (repigmenting).
I have used products by She ( they are Australian, so you may not get them in O/S) but they contain quite high antioxidants grapeseed, hyaluronic acid, Vit C,
Rosehip Oil, I still haven't tried Trilastin, which I'm thinking of giving a go, I have been quite brutal as I do have a quite a high pain threshold but I take some good internal antioxidants as well...and that makes your skin heal a lot faster=try some Omega 3's-actually Omega 3's =fish oil completely took away my acne, (didn't have a bad case, just around my chin area)
--- I am happier with this dermaroller device than any other treatment I've tried- I hope it works for others also as I know how crap sms can make you feel...especially if you are the type of person who tries hard to look after their looks, weight etc it can get you down when you think there is nothing you can do.

i would not recommend wasting your money on trilastin i used it religiously everyday 3 times a day massaged it in just like the instructions say and was even using the dermaroller. I did not see ANY improvement in my stretchmarks but i did get two new ones. trilastin not only claims it will remove existing stretchmarks but also says it will prevent new ones from forming. Obviously this is not true since i did get new stretchmarks after i had used trilastin. The only thing it really did was moisturize but i dont think i need to spend $120 US for a moisturizer. Needless to say i returned the product but i was out 50 dollars in shipping charges.

J or anyone else who is using TCA,

I purchased TCA from platinum skin care and used it just a few minutes ago. Its my first time ever doing a chemical peel so i am a bit weary since i did read that if used incorrectly it will lead to scaring i already have dreadful stretchmarks so don't want to make them worse by burning my skin. i purchased 30% TCA and dipped a cotton swap in it and rubbed it into 2 of my stretchmarks that are about 2 inches long and about 1 cm wide. I put a layer on and it did start to burn/tingle i left it on for about 5 minutes then rinsed off with cold water. I did not see any frosting and the skin looks the same not red or anything did i do something wrong? Also J are you using the copper lotion as well with the TCA? i only purchased the TCA and emu oil do i need to get the copper as well?
