I have read that coconut oil is also helpful for stretchmarks. I am going to be trying it and the drying brushing together. Putting the oil on 2 times per day.

I have heard about one laser called "coolbeam" in beverly hills that is reported to work (by media) but I haven't heard anything good about it on forums. I have read some journal articles about lasers and stretch marks, and it seems like some have somewhat of an effect, but I really don't know how much. It also depends on your skin type too I think.

Hi everyone,
Pity they got rid of the previous forum, it had a good tips on what worked & what didn't. So anyone who is an old-timer, pls excuse me running this again!!

1) Coolbeam is a HOAX. A lady on the yahoo forum tried & the company (Epione) has a bad reputation. Computer-ish members have commented that the pictures on the firm's website are almost for certain an air-brush job.

2) IPL - google this, it is not quite a laser but the one thing that cld bring 'modest' improvements acc to my dermatologist (a family friend back in Asia, & not doing my treatment). I start IPL in London this week. It is pricey & results not till 5/6th treatment. I will keep you updated on any progress (or not!). Only doing upper thighs to start with.

3) microdermabrasion - my derma isn't convinced, but said it shld improve skin texture & pigmentation a bit. However I read a clinical study sometime ago that says it can help. If you think abt it, Jean Wu's method is essentially a home version of microdermbrasion. I'm starting microdermabrasion soon too.

3) TCAs & professional peels- works a charm, but only if you're white. If you're Asian/Black etc, forget it, it will mess yr skin to no end. Also, it is horrendously messy during the healing stages, and must be done by a qualified dermatologist.

I have stretch marks on entire bum, upper & inner thighs, upper arms (not helped by the fact I row!), back calves, and most depressingly on my breasts (25 yr old with breasts of a 65 year old. Not helped by weight loss).

My present routine is exfoliation with the apricot scrub 2-3 X a week, then out of shower, body brush & mix of jojoba/rosehip oil & either Palmers cocoa butter or St Ives moisturiser. I saw some improvement on the centre bit of my bum, but nothing beyond that. It's been 3.5 months btw. The pple who have supposedly experienced 50% success with exfoliation claim to have done it for 5 months minimum - I think everyone is different, so I'm sticking to my guns & trying to keep going.

Good Luck & chin up everyone.

Before starting any kind of major and expensive skin treatments I suggest people lose any extra pounds becuase the minute you lose weight the marks will just come back. If you aren't planning to lose weight or have no no need to lose weight then I guess its ok but still try and do something to tighten your skin naturally through exercise.

At the moment I'm doing a mixture of body brushing, jean wu, massage with creams, supplements and diet and exercise! Its so time consuming but luckily i have nothing much else to do at the moment as i'm off for summer so if i acheive nothing else it'll be getting my body into shape!

Whenever I pull my skin to tighten it the marks appear alot less visible and in certain lights some appear non existant. So i figur trying to tighten the skin may really help. I would like to lose about 20 - 30lbs so I am at the slimmest weight for my height 5ft 9. I plan to do it through lots of exercise both fat burning and body toning. That way not only will I lose the weight I'll tighten the skin as much as possible aswell.

Once i'm down to my desired weight the plan is to tighten up any remaining loose skin through cosmetic treatments like Beutytek or something, maybe get a few wraps, peels, rejuvenating treatments and then I'll see what i'm left with. I think we are all focusing on the problem the marks too much, maybe if we focused on the general condition of our skin we would acheive better results. Diet, vitamins and nutrients all play a part in healing skin problems and creating them. Smoking, alcohol, fatty fodds, it all palys a part in halting the bodies natural renewal system.

For this reason I don't smoke, I drink alot less than I used too, but not completely cut it out! Im also taking supplements and really trying to eat more fruit and veg and most importantly stay hydrated by drinking at least 2 litres of water per day. I am also trying to work with my bodies matural processes like not eating too much carbs after certain times and
eating little and often as opposed to 3 meals to really kickstart the matabolism, i'm also avoiding medicenes like paracetamol, and artificial, sweeteners and theings with chemicals as they can also contribute. It sounds like I'm trying to control alot of my diet but it's kinda effortless once you get into it. AAnd I feel the benefits in my body already. As for my stretchmarks yes they are still here  but i am confident that my diet combined with my revised jean wu method and exercise etc, i'll soon have my body working at its optimum.

The way I see it is that I want to as much as i can naturally to help my skin and body correct itself then when there is no more i can do i will try laser and other expensive likely to be a scam style treatments!... The state my stretchmarks are in it would take too many treatments and too much money to correct from scratch and this way my whole body will benefit.. and maybe if i get my skin into optimum condition maybe they will be more receptive to these treatments.

I don't know if it'll be worth it in the end but I guess like eveybody I live in hope for a miracle.

Thanks for the Coolbeam info. I'll ask my dermatologist about any possibly effective lasers around me.

Also, I just came across this:

We shall see.

When I went on the pill my breasts grew, then when i went off they went back to their normal size, but now the skin looks like it has stretch marks, just texturally. When they got bigger the skin never had visible lines and there aren't really white marks where the texture changes. My Dr. said it will go back to normal, but so far it hasn't. Anyone have this happen to them?

I remember when I was about 11 and I complained to my sister about my stretch marks on my thighs and buttocks. She, age 17, told me not to worry because she used to have them on her thighs and they went away as she got older and joined the track team. Later, after I joined the track team and my legs got bigger and more toned, I noticed that the stretch marks on my thighs actually did go away. Now they are a memory. As for the ones on my buttocks...they are still there but they are less severe. I was ashamed to get undressed for 8th grade gym for fear of feeling like an outcast. Now I fight not to feel odd when I put on a swimsuit and I'm 26 now with no kids. I've prayed about it and I'm going to try the tanning, exfoliating, and changing my diet. But if it doesn't work, I'll make it through.

I'm inspired by http://www.eczema-natural-healing.com/ ... talk about someone with skin issues!!!

It's tough to say but your true beauty does come from the inside. When people see your beautiful smile and bright eyes and hear your kind words, it's much easier for them to overlook skin imperfections. We are always harder on ourselves than other people are.

I just found out about Isolagen today. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed. However it has not been FDA approved yet, and when it is FDA approved it will only be FDA approved for facial wrinkles.

Someone on the Yahoo stretchmark forum said the company that is researching Isolagen is currently conducting trials to see if Isolagen will work on stretch marks, but I am sure it will be a while before they reach any conclusions about its effectiveness.

And even after their trials show that it may be effective in treating stretch marks we will still have to wait for it to get approval from the FDA. Also i'm sure getting Isolagen treatments will be extremely expenisive, im guessing thousands of dollars.

On another note I have a theory about why the old stretch mark thread was erased. I think it was because Jean Wu found out that her stretch mark removal regimen was posted on the old thread, and then she asked someone to erase it so she could continue to make money off of it without people getting the regimen for free. however i should mention that my theory about why the old thread was erased is only a theory and i have no proof or even evidence to back it up.

Don't worry about it I've had stretch marks, running right to left on my lumbar, from the time I was 12, the doctor told me it was because I grew too fast, I was 5'9" by that time and just the right weight for my height.
I'm 5'11" and was 68kgs right up till just before I was 21, I still didn't get any more till I was about 4-5 mths pregnant.
I found that Palmers cocoa butter didn't work for me, I started using it from when I was about 3 mths pregnant with my first daughter by the end of my pregnancy my belly was covered, from top to bottom, in stretch marks. I've now got stretch marks on my upper arms, belly, thighs, hips and breasts, none on my bum yet (fingers crossed that I don't get any there).
I did find that Bio-oil works to make them fade though and you don't need all that much either.
It depends on your skin type, I've known people to put on as much weight as I did and not get half as many stretch marks, yet I've known others to hardly put any on and get just as many. I also walked to the gym, done cardio and weight training for a year and it didn't help either. So don't worry if you've got them and you find one thing works for others but not for you, it just means you have to find what's right for your skin type.
HUGS

I looked up isolagen treatments and the prices start at £2500. Very expensive but to be honest seems like the only thing that might work. I mean the idea of introducing your own cells to repair tissiue damage seems probable. Also they have done some trials on stretchmarks and said they achieved success with the depressed marks, although raised marks were proving more difficult. I think if you were to get this treatment to work on the inside and then got exfoliating treatments/microdermabrasion to work on the outside as awell as coupling it with dite, excercise, supplements and massage oils. You may be onto a winner. Its the most promising treatment out there. Now i just gotta go and find £2500!

About the bio oil. I ve been wanting to try it for a while but have been put off by just thinking its another scam for money and ive never heard anything from anyone who'd tried it.. I found rosehip oil was quite good. Didnt notice much improvement but my skin felt amazing and maybe after prolonged use it may work because its healed some old scars right up. But i think i might try this bio oil now you've said it works.

Just wanted say i think its really great the way everyone on here is so supportive and open to sharing their experiences with different treatments etc.. It really helps to know you're not alone in this. And yeah i guess we could be alot worse off with something like exzema or psoriasis (spelling?) but in this shallow world that we live in good skins important especially if your young and sexy with no kids! But yeah maybe we should be greatful they dont cause us any physical discomfort. Although the mental scars are enough but anyway watever. Who wants to sponser my Isolagen treatment????!!!!!! Any takers??? No, didn't think so....

Hey mina! good to hear from you! wondered how you were getting on with the oil mix!
Im going to give it another couple of months before trying something else(unless i see improvement!)Ive been applying the oils in the morning with an msm cream(still taking 1000mg internally too,i have noticed my nails are stronger since taking it so im going to continue taking it with that hope it will help with my stretchmarks oneday! I did find a post on a forum where a woman applied msm topically and took it internally and her marks improved after a year by 50% i think.Anyways and in the evening ive been sticking with jean wu,doing the massage every 5 days at the moment and applying the stives and aloe vera every night! In certain lights my stretchmarks do show improvemant but when i turn to check in other lights they look just the same as bloddy always! Ive taken some pics of my marks so i can compare after another couple of months! If no more improvement then im going to try the skinbio products, the acid and copper peptide creams,i noticed a post here where someone has seen results from these! And ive also come across other forums where people have had results from using peels and copper creams!
An exercise that is great for toning skin is pilates,im also going to start this up,and also going to try some breast toning exercises to try and firm my boobs that are made to look old and saggy and wrinkly by my stretch marks! Gotta go in a min but will post up some links later for the breast firming exercises if anyone is interested(i know this is a stretchmark thread but i reckon if you have them on your breats they wouldnt look so bad if your breasts are toned and firm and i cant afford surgery!)
Sorry if ive gone on,and havnt even mentioned this isolagen yet! Wow! This looks good once ive seen some genuine before and after pics of stretchmarks and its been approved and heard from someone who has had this tretment with good results on their marks then ill go visit my bank manager for a loan! lol
Take care everyones and good luck!
Rosie xx
Sorry ant remember the name of the girl who was wondering about the stretch renew by bodies by design,im also tempted by this one! The testimonals look promising and genuine and the creams ingrediants look good! Let us know if you decide to go for it and keep us posted! xx
