Cerazette

Postby Maddilion on Tue Nov 07, 2006 1:20 pm

:?

Well I have been on this pill for nearly a year and have been backwards and forwards to the Doctors about my irregular bleeding. To date I haven't had a 'regular' bleed, and keeping a log I have been on for the past 16 days. Which as you can imagine is driving me mad, not least because sometimes it is like the Battle of the Somme, sometimes it is so light I think \o/ it is finally over and done with. I am fed up to the back teeth of being told 'It will settle down' well it bloody well hasn't so far. I am waiting on the triage nurse to call me back from my practice now so I can discuss it - again.

ive been on cerazette for a few months now and ive had no proper period, just really light bleeding ocassionally. I was on mycrogynon for a few years til last year and came of it because of the side effects, i felt so much better after coming off it, although i'd add a note of caution- i was so relieved to come off it and get back to normal and despite using other methods, i got pregnant. So although the side effects are annoying, make sure you're very careful if you do decide to come off the pill, because i'd rather have side effects than an unwanted pregnancy. After that i didnt care about the side effects and jumped straight on cerazette- i wish we had another alternative because this pill is awful!!!!

bleeding non stop

I had to transfer to this pill due to a history of strokes in the family, and the fact I started getting migraines.

I didn't like the standard mini-pills, as I didn't adapt to the 3 hour window you had to take the pill each day. So when i got offered cerazette i was over the moon!

As soon as I started taking the pill I bled for 2 months non stop. I was so upset at the thought, I thought I must be having a miscarriage. (stupid it may sound, but when you are normally so regular, you do wonder!)
I went back to my GP, and we decided I would come off Cerazette completly.

Anyway a few months passed, and I went to a family plannin clinic. The wooman decided I should go back on Cerazette, but take 2 tablets a day for a month until my periods died down. Which eventually they did. But then all the problem started....

I went 3 months without a period. Of course I went through all the hell of thinking I was pregnant (how can you go from 3 periods a month to none in 3 months??) Having taken 5 pregnancy tests, which all proved to be negative, I carried taking the pill.

All of a sudden i have had 2 periods this month again, so having been on this pill for over a year my periods have not calmed down.

This pill has had a serious effect on me, my sex drive has gone completely, my boyfriend blames hmself thinking he has become less attractive, even if we did want sex, I am always bleeding!! And as for weight gain, I have put on about 2 stone in a year.

Seriously, I would not recommend this pill to anyone!

I have noticed though that I am becomong more and more depressed, lethargic, tearful and angry and wondered if it was the pill. In fact I am starting to feel nothing at all, sort of couldn't care less about anything.

I have felt much the same. I have been taking Cerazette for just over a month and have felt very tired, emotional and depressed as well as putting on a few pounds. I seem to cry a lot since taking Cerazette, sometimes I don't even know why, and have started to feel very useless.

I have also been getting a lot of headaches and have been feeling very dizzy. I am unable to walk very far on my own without someone to hold on to. Has anyone else had these side effects?

Although my husband has been very supportive, our relationship has felt quite strained over the last few weeks as I have been unable to work.

I stopped taking it this week as I suffered the same side effects when taking Microgynon for 4-5 months. Hopefully the doctor will be able to recommend something else.

As far as bleeding goes, I started to take Cerazette on the first day of my period and had my normal 5 days. After that I had a week 1 week period free and then started to bleed again for about 7 days. Since then I haven't bled apart from a very small amount of light spotting.

coming off cerazette

Postby new user on Fri Nov 10, 2006 8:11 pm

hello

i was on cerazette for just over a year and i came off almost 2 weeks ago but still no signs of a period.

whilst i was on the pill i had no bleeding, which was great cos i had a short cycle, but im now rly wanting one just so i know im gettin back to normal

i noticed a few ppl saying about pregnancy side effects whilst on the pill, which i got too, but it does say about them in the leaflet, but i took tests to check whether i was pregnant to check and they were all negative

whilst on the pill i was also gettin lower abdominal panges which i went to my GP about, who didnt seem to help, just filled me with some worries, but they were so inconsistant and random im not sure theyre related to the pill

iv come off because i was putting on quite a bit of weight and i was gettin more emotional, but i rly want a period to start soon. i noticed some ppl saying about stuff that brings periods on, iv heard some herbs do, has any1 got anything they can recommend

altho other than un necissary worrying i have enjoyed being on the pill and having no bleeding so i wouldnt rule it out for the future

has any1 else had a similar experience cos im a bit worried

thanks

Hello

I have been on Cerezzete for 2 and a half years, and have just come off it.
It took me a few visits to the doctors and a few POP pills to settle for Cerezette, which seemed to work for me.
At the start I was very concerned however that I did not have a period and so did a few pregnancy tests to check I wasn't pregnant. After 6 months or so I began to accept with this pill I would not have periods, even though I didn't really like that.
I have been pretty emotional but can be like that anyway! But the main problem has been weight gain - 2-3 stone in 2 and a half years. Sod that! So I am not going to take it any more, and seriously consider the coil.

Hi all,
I just thought I would reply to all of you that has had terrible times on cerazette. After reading all the letters I realised I too have these symtoms.I started taking it as I had to come off the injection due to my age and possible link to osteoporosis.I had a period for 2 weeks and not had one since(3.5 months). My mood swings are so bad I have concidered anti-depressants as I thought it was just me.I have had huuuuuge spots on my legs at top near groins, very painful and lasting 2 weeks, sore boobs and sore nipples,no sex drive at all.The list is endless................
I am going to have coil fitted as feel this is only alternative,I just hope my pmt will be ok as that was whole point of taking hormones, now I have permanent pmt!!!!!! I hope this has helped anyone as reding others letters has really helped me knowing I'm not alone
thankyou.

So glad I found you!!

Hi guys,

Just wanted to say I have been on Cerazette for six months and had no problems - but no periods either. Doctor's advice is that with this pill it's quite common as it "shuts down" operation of your ovaries as opposed to other cp's which work in a totally different way.

However - having now decided to come off the pill and try for a baby I was really concerned about the fact I'd not had periods and whether or not I'd made it more difficult to conceive and so I'm pretty glad I found this forum. If anyone else (besides the last post - congratulations!!) has tried to conceive after taking this pill I'd be interested to know how easy it was and how long it took?

Thanks...!!

hi nexus_84,
As i have said i came off the pill (cerazette) 7 weeks ago and found that i was getting bad cramps and pains in lower area's, No periods and also really sore boobs. I have only just had a positive result. but have been trying for the full 7 weeks to become pregnant. I had consulted the doctors several times as i was very concerned. they told me that i was obvious by the pains etc that my body was trying to get back to normal as it can take longer with pop. I think you will just have to be patient but keep trying and keep testing if you dont get a period.

Hello. Just looking for some reassurance really. I'm 18 and have been taking Cerazette for 5 months now and a few days ago noticed that my nipples have increased in size at the bottom, going from a rounded shape to a more oval one. Is this normal, or should I be worrying?
It's pregnancy I'm really concerned about, as there has been an incident where I was sick and took the pill approx 12/13 hours later, and then when I missed a pill, and used protection for two days after (which I'm not entirely sure is long enough, I've read to wait two days after, and also seven days after missed pills).
I haven't had any changes in my breasts for years now, but they've increased in size too. Is there much chance I might be pregnant, or am I just being paranoid as usual? Any response would be appreciated.
Thank you! :D

hey. If I was you, I'd take a pregnancy test just as reassurance. When I was pregnant, my nipples got bigger and my breasts also increased in size and became very sore, so perhaps do a test.
I've come off cerazette because I didnt like how it made me have huge mood swings and I didnt like the fact that I didnt have a period. I've been off it for a few days and feel much better already, although thats probably partly psychological! I'm going to try the coil next!
