hi i was on cerazette for 7 month and i stopped taking it about 2 or 3 week ago and still haven't had a period. i found i got migrains all the time and got really bloated on it . it says on the leaflet that u can put on weight on it but i lost loads of weight and my breast size went smaller, i also never had a propper period, i use to have light periods every 2 month or had no period at all. if i forgot to take a pill i wud cum on straight away the next day but wen i stopped takin it i haven't had 1 so im worried, ive done about 8 preg test and they all come back negative. i really dont know wot wrong an wot should i do ...

Cerazette

Hi, I've been on Cerazette for 2.5 yrs since my last baby was borne and then on it before then for several years before that and had no trouble with it what so ever. Apart from the inital bleeding when I went back on the pill after my son was borne in 2005 I've had no bleeding. I must admit I suffered from mood swings, lack of wanting sex and I just put it down to being tired! but reading some of your experiences it might have been the pill. I have since come off the pill (on 17 April) as I want to try for another baby and have not had any bleeding, but all the signs that its coming, stomach pains, bloating, sore boobs etc but no bleeding. I'm sure it didn't take this long the last time I came off this pill before having my first bleed. I have had unprotected sex several times since coming off the pill so who knows whats going on inside!!

Like alot of you say, everyone seems to have had different experiences.

We all seem to be having the same sort of problems, I started taking Cerazette a month ago and was due to start my period but i've had nothing at all, got so worried that I got myself a preg test but it was neg (relief :) ) I could have understood if I had been taking it for a couple of months and then the bleeding had stop, its just very worrying! Not sure whether to carry on taking the pill or try something else, think I might try the implant

When I first started taking cerazette it did stop period straight away but soon after the bleeding began.

It's up to you livindead whether you want to continue on cerazette. I would suggest coming off cerazette for a few months to get your body back to a normal state before going on the implant, just so if youhave the implant put in, the side effects from stopping cerazette have gone.

And a little hint, the implant really hurts for like 2 or 3 days afterwards. I could not bend my elbow more than 90 degrees :)

I have been using Cerazette for nearly a year now and it has been great! I was put on it as I found being on several other pills (dianette, cylest, microgynan (sorry can't spell some of them!)) my pmt was crazy! I was moaning at everyone! my bf, my family, work colleagues I thought I was going mad so the doctor put me on cerazette telling me it will stop my period hence no pmt which it did - I haven't had a period all this time apart from the odd little breakthrough which you can get. The only problem I have found recently is weight gain! I have put on 10lbs over the past couple of months and was considering visiting doctors again.
Has anyone else had weight problems being on Cerazette?

Why do I keep bleeding!?

Postby Sweet-Blu on Sat May 24, 2008 1:18 pm

Ok..this is the second time I've had cerazette, but I cant remember much about the 1st time as I only took it for three weeks. But I have been on this session for five weeks now and keep bleeding!!!!!

Its scaring the hell outa me, and every two to three weeks of so I get cramps like a period :( sometimes I even get clots! The bleeding os light sometimes( brown and not often) but then theres days, usually 2-4 days after that - I get heavy red bloo with clots!!! wheres it all coming from?

Anyone else have this problem??? Idont want to stop as its omy only option of birth control as the coil gave me a lot of problems and as I have some health problems the other forms are not for me the doc said! :(

ANY SUGGESTIONS PLEAAAAASE!!!!!
Thank you x

I've been taking cerazette for almost 3 months now (after trying about 6 different other ones with no luck due to severe headaches). my main reason for going on the pill in the first place was due to the suffering endometreosis. every period came with extremely severe pain (incl in my back and legs), nausea, vomitting, migraines and terrible fatigue. plus sometimes i would get severe mid-cycle back pain my periods would last 10+ days. 2 operations later, little has changed so i thought i'd try the pill. i've had light spotting since being on it - no periods yet. i know a lot of people worry about not having periods but for me the alternative is much worse! i'd rather mess up my body this way then suffer with what i used to go through - which has pretty much stopped since taking cerazette!!!!!! (sometimes i do get slight cramps but nothing like i used to!) i havent noticed anything else different but as its been less than 3 months, i'l have to wait and see. lets hope this continues!!!

It takes a good 3-6 months for the bleeding to settle down. If you cant wait that long then come off it. It is not the only option for birth control, you could come off it and use condoms - not ideal but you dont have that evil pill in your body.

If you want to use cerazette, keep going, it will settle down but takes a very long time

I'm back on Cerazette again after having a baby. I had been on it for 4 years before coming off to try to get pregnant. Although I wasn't as extreme as you with my cycles, I also had alot of problems with bad PMS, mid-cycle mood swings and cramping and really heavy long periods. After starting on Cerazette, my periods slowed down and then stopped completely. The PMS and mid-cycle cramping also disapeared. I loved being on Cerazette for the 4 years I was on it and I'm happy being on it again especially because I can breastfeed on it. I enjoy not getting my period and never worry that I might not be getting it because of being pregnant (I was warned by my dr and it also says in the leaflet that a side effect may be no periods!) I still think that the pill affects each women differently and the different types of BC pills affect different women differently so if someone is not happy on Cerazette, they need to change their form of BC!

Cerazette

Postby n_mcardle on Mon May 26, 2008 2:47 pm

Hi

I was on cerazette for probably about 2 years max, puely because on mycrogynon my periods were so heavy. From the start my GP told me that cerazette would completely stop my periods, and they did stop straight away. I did gain some weight, probably about a stone & my breasts are huge!! 3 weeks ago now I decided to stop taking cerazette as myself & my partner want a child.

Since then I have had headaches, am exhausted all the time & have had some cramps associated with coming on my period & one day of slight spotting. On the plus side my sex drive has finally returned! I've done one pregnancy test which was negative, but as we are trying to conceive I am going to wait another week & then attempt another test.

Obviously there are pros and cons with any contraception. Cerazette was good for me as my periods were so heavy, but it did cause me to gain weight & did eliminate my sex drive!!

I was wondering if anyone here had conceived after stopping cerazette, and how ong this took to happen?

Thanks!

Hi

I have been on this pill since November 2007. In that whole time I have bleed bar 2 weeks. I persevered on the advice of my doctor but I'm now going to come off it for the sake of my marriage! Unfortunately I can't go on the combined pill due to it making my blood pressure increase so this was my last chance. Did anyone who was on it and had similar problems and then came off it continue to bleed.

Hi,

When I came off Cerazette the first time back in 2004 at the end of August to try for a baby, it took me til Jan 05 to get pregnant so not that long really. I have just come of Cerazette again to try for another baby, and it has taken 5 weeks for me to get my first period. Like alot of you say I was never so happy to get a period!! Just got to get jiggy with it now and fingers crossed will get pregnant again soon.

I will definately consider going back on Cerazette after I have the second baby as I never really had any major side effects apart from mood swings and lack of sex drive, but I then put it down to being tired not really realising that it could have been the pill.

Will keep you all posted.

Regards

Sandrax
