I too started to take cerazette just over a month ago... i got a sort of period - not really a bleed more just a mess in my pants - which i know it says in the leaflet might happen...my only issue is that i have had same now for past 10 days - i normally only get few days at most whilst i have been on micronor. Also i am getting a lot of really bad headaches - i have been blaming work but think they might be related to pill also? Any thoughts?????

cerazette

Hello girls,
so happy to feel i have company too! been on cerazette for 7 months now..it was recommended to me after giving birth because I am breastfeeding..I have had no good or bad signs for the first six months but have been light bleeding for the whole of the last month, and feel like I have a never ending period, with cramps and all the rest of the symptoms..
I started to worry and came _ to find all of you..
I am seriously considering to try a different contraception method, as it simply feels wrong to do this to my body..
Has anyone had experience with the spyral, or can suggest an other option?
All the best to all of you! x

Cerazette

Hi girls...

Reading more of your comments since my posting the other day.

I'm quite happy with this pill. As I mentioned have been on since end of April and yes at first was a little upset with the stops and starts of bleeding within the space of a few weeks, but that has all settled.

I however,am feeling quite upset today as I've put one of my dresses this morning and I feel like a whale :( since the last time I wore it.

I feel my eating habits haven't changed that much and I'm wondering where this extra weight is coming from.

I have read that a few ladies have seen an increase in their boobs and was wondering do you think this is a main side affect that affects most women taking Cerazette.

I don't think I'll stop taking the pill because of this, but for once will have to start to monitoring my food intake to conquer this weight gain.

Hi, I've been taking cerazette for about 3 months, although I stopped taking it after the first month as i felt so fat and horrible, but then decided i should give it a chance! I've had some spotting and a "normal" period when I got to the end of one packet (yes I did continue straight onto the next packet without a break!). My big problems with this pill are weight gain; I'm very sporty and active but have still managed to gain weight (causing depression!!) and my breasts are constantly painful and have gone from a 32b to a 34c. I've had a few headaches (I rarely have head aches when not on the pill) and now, although this may be un-related, i feel like I have palpitations and my heart skips a beat. Trouble is I'm 42 and my options are limited to the POPs.
Has anyone else had any weird symptoms? I'm off to see my GP ASAP (also I keep worrying that my huge boobs are a sign i'm actually pregnant!)

Cerazette - missed pill

Postby S85711 on Fri Jul 11, 2008 6:28 pm

I have been on Cerazette for 4 years now, having had to come off Microgynon after suffering migraines and gaining 2 stone in 4 months!

I had non-stop very light bleeding for 6 months, then no bleeding for a year and a half. It finally settled out, where I have a very light period every couple of months. My boobs are very sore for a couple of weeks beforehand, but its bearable!
Considering the agony I used to suffer, this is fab! Those people who are thinking of quitting, stick with it, as I couldn't bear to go back to the horrible periods I used to suffer.
Having lost a lot of weight, my boobs are still huge, and I've just noticed that a lot of people say theirs have grown - scared to come off it now!

My libido has not suffered at all from this pill, and I seem to have been lucky to escape a lot of the side effects... but I did suffer them mildly in the first 6 months.

I just couldn't go back!

Does anyone know how long you have to wait before you protected again before you take a pill? The leaflet says 7 days, but my doctor I'm sure said 2, and on the internet it says 2 as well. I'm confused.

Can anyone help??!?

I was on Cerazette for most of last year and stopped because I thougt that I must've grown out of heavy periods. It didnt last long and I tried a short stint back on Cerazette over the past 2months. I came off it 2weeks ago because I was having bad headaches. I assumed My period would come immediately after I stopped taking it but I've had nothing.

I am wrong to be worrying? How long after stopping Cerazette did you get a period?

Hello There,

It took 3 weeks for me before my period arrived after stopping cerazette. Some women take longer, some shorter. It is all normal, as long as you have been safe, there should be no problems. If you want to take a pregnancy test to be sure then why not. But do not panic :)

I would always air on the side of caution and wait 7 days - better to be safe than sorry!

Coming off this pill

Postby Emmbles on Mon Jul 14, 2008 1:57 pm

I have been on Cerrezette for over three years and recently took the decision to stop taking it.

Whilst on Cerrezette I didn't really think about any of the changes in my body being associated with it but having read through this forum I can list the following side affects:
Weight gain, I put on over 4 stone in three years and although the pill isnt to blame for it all, it really hasn't helped
Increased hair growth, I have a lot more facial hair than I ever used to and although the tweazers can fix this it grows back very quickly which is a real pain.
Loss of sex drive, I didn't asssociate this with the pill until I stopped taking it. Whilst on this pill I really wasn't interested in sex and it was starting to cause problems between me and my husband because he thought I had lost interest in him. Since stopping the pill on the 19th of June my sex drive has been higher than my husband's and he can't keep up, life's a lot my fun :D.

On the periods front, I didn't have a single period for the whole time I took Cerrezette and after coming off it I had one exactly 28 days later, I have to say I found this a bit weird I was expecting it to take a lot longer. just waiting for the second one now.

Although I can list all of the above side effects I actually think that Cerrezette was the right pill for me at the time but I will be interested to see if I have anymore luck shifting the weight now that I've come off it.

As with all pills though, different ones suit different people and you just have to keep trying until you find one that works for you. 8) 8)

i was on cerazette for 2 months, had 1 normal period each month, the same time apart. my doctor suggested i stop taking it for 2 weeks as i was having constant headaches and he wasnt sure if it was related to this pill. the headaches have stopped so i know that was the problem, but i have not had another period yet. i came off it 12 days ago, and would have been due my period 5 days ago, but still nothing. i am seeing the doctor next monday but am trying to decide if i should do a test in case, or if im just being paranoid. any suggestions?

Hi all, I just got prescribed Cerazette at my pill check with doctor this morning so decided to do some research, and came across this page. I'm now quite worried about taking it based on all these experiences! I know each pill affects different people differently so I'll give it a try but it really seems people on here have had more bad experiences than good.

I've been on Dianette for the past 9 months for suspected PCOS (dr said hormone tests weren't always accurate, so it isn't confirmed, but had symptoms eg excess hair, difficult to lose weight, irregular periods) but as it has had no effect on the hair problem, and because my weight and blood pressure are a bit too high to safely take it or another combined pill, my doctor recommended the mini-pill instead (or injections which I didn't want, and would rather not rely on condoms esp now I'm so used to not having to) which i am due to start directly after my last Dianette pack runs out (3 weeks).

Now having read this forum it seems some people actually develop PCOS-type symptoms from taking this pill I'm wondering if it's the right one for me and why my doctor didn't mention this? Will it just exacerbate them? Also after seemingly never being able to lose weight, I've lost 7kg after glandular fever last month which really encouraged me to carry on trying (so maybe I can get back on normal pills) but am worried this will come straight back on with Cerazette, though I intend to keep eating well and get more exercise. Also quite worried about the question mark surrounding periods ... I have LOVED being able to predict when a period will come and knowing how heavy it will be, as I had never been regular in the 10 years of periods before going on the pill. Who knows what will happen on Cerazette? :? My boyfriend will be away until December, so at least if I end up a mess he won't have to see or deal with it and I can stop it before he returns ... but am feeling very uncertain now! Think I'll have to come back to this page once I start them and update.

Don't worry

Postby Shirl43 on Wed Jul 16, 2008 2:20 pm

Hi there...
Just been reading the last two comments/messages left.

I can understand you being apprehensive about taking a new pill and after reading the reviews on this site - it all seems negative.

I experienced spotting and a couple of bleeds in the first 4-6 weeks of taking the pill, but I'm pleased to say that this has stopped and I haven't had a period since early June.

And of course that's what this pill has an affect on, your periods as I was told by the nurse at Family Planning. I may not have a period at all.

So although you girls may be suffering initially, I say you should at least give the pill three months and then decide if it's not for you.
