hello, i just wanted to check if this was for me, do you mean that norethisterone is not a contraceptive? i havent started taking it yet as ive only just had me period which i was waiting for after coming off cerazette. i just wanted to check because if its not, then im not going to bother taking it as thats why the doc prescribed it to me, fo contraception!!

Cerazette

I've been taking Cerazette for 4 months and have found it to be brilliant.
I have had some spotting but it lasted for one morning, my PMT has completely disappeared, my skin looks amazing and I haven't put on any weight. My family planning nurse did say that most people on this pill would not have a period...I'm 36 and it's great not to have one for a change!!!

Vision,
I was on Cerazette for 5 years. It didn't affected my weight at all from what I can tell. In fact Im in the best shape ever yet I hardly get any exercise and eat what I want (im sure I dont look healthy on the inside!)

My boobs felt tender at certain times on Cerazette. My boyfriend gave up touching them since I always complained they hurt when he did.

I came off Cerazette last week after bleeding for ages and feeling like it was causing massive mood swings every 3-4 weeks, floods of tears and hating life, which I know is not the real me.

Its early days but so far... no moods, my boobs feel fine, and actually I feel horny like Im 16 again!!! It must be linked since I havent felt quite like this in such a long time.

There are so many options when it comes to contraception. If one method is causing problems, just give something else a go, dont fret over it. That's what I've decided after all this time! Cerazette was good for me at times, but I also had the craziest mood swings. Maybe my natural cycle is like that - will just have to wait and see.

Cerazette

Ive been on Cerazette for just over a year. I was made to change due to my weight and family history of heart problems. I havent had a period since i started taking it but have recently started spotting. I have noticed a loss of sex drive too. I have managed to loose weight on it aswell. So im sticking with it for now as not much else i can take!

Cerazette!! :-(

I've been on this pill for two months and I've just come to the end of a 6 WEEK period! I would have gone to the doctor but really couldn't find the time and after reading plenty of complaints on the internet, I realise this incessant bleeding is not unusual.
I'm going to come off it in a few days and I will see the doctor but just wanted to add that it has done nothing for my skin or my migraines and it has made me gain weight (around half a stone in 2 months) so I'm not very happy with it.

Hello. I was on cerazette for about 5 or 6 months and i got no period what so ever from the momenti started it. I also had very bad mood swings and my hair fell out. Not completely but id wake up in the morning and fidn clumps of it on my pillow, if i moved around too fast my hair would also just fall out easily and i would have clumps all over me, after i stopped taking it my hair stopped falling out. I wouldnt reccomend this pill!

Cerazette

Postby collie » Thu Aug 07, 2008 1:43 pm

THANKS for all the advice - and I've nearly read each...

I am currently on Microgynon, and don't like it (experiencing anxiety, chest tightness, tender/swollen breasts, weight gain & over-eating, nausea, dizziness etc...) - even after the first month! My friend has suggested Cerazette and I'm off to the docs today to get a new presecription.

Some things I have learnt, from own experiences and from other opinions:
- when changing from one pill to the next, have a break. At least a month.
- you may have to try several options to get the right choice for you.

I have tried:
- Combined Pill - moods, bloating, etc...
- Coil - painful insertion and removal, during periods and sex!
- Depo injection - constant spotting (although this taken directly after the Pill, yet when used before - period free for 1.5years!
- Condoms - although sometimes risky...if used correctly quite good, but generally no intimacy...unless you want a risk!

I will try Cerazette after a month-free break of everything. And hopefully it will go well.

If it does, you won't hear from me again, if it doesn't, well...watch this space!!!

Hi all,

This is the second time I've used cerazette, the first time about 3 yrs ago, all was good, no periods and no side effects.

This time and at the age of 39, I started at the beginning of January this yr, bled for about a week or so at a time, really painful and very heavy. I also became allergic to most facial moisturisers that i'd used for years, my skin became greasier so did my hair and i got great big spots (like boils) on my neck and face, that lasted for weeks at a time.

By May the bleeding had stopped completely.
The spots have got less and less, hair and skin is still greasy but nowhere near as bad as it was.
I'm still allergic to a lot of face creams.

My main problem now, which I've only just associated with this pill, is that I keep getting Thrush. I thought at first it was a side effect of antibiotics but ive never had it before and only took antibiotics once this Spring, yet I keep getting various degrees of irritation weekly.

Has anyone else suffered with Thrush as a side effect of Cerazette?

I've been on cerazette for 2 1/2 yrs, have had no problems at all. Never had a period (bonus), no weight gain - if anything I lost weight, migraines stopped, no problems at all. I have read lots of negative feedback about this pill, and hey things could change for me, but I guess the thing to remember is that different pills have different effects on different women.

changes to bleeding on cerazette

Postby jane5 » Mon Aug 11, 2008 3:53 pm

I am so relieved to have found this site! I have been on cerazette for about 6 months and am smack bang in the middle of the 'oh my god am i pregnant' panic. I've just bought a pregnancy test before coming on this site because I have not had a bleed yet this month. My doctor prescribed this pill as I've had headaches in the past with others and the injection was hell (no bleed but my libido disappeared and I felt depressed also took almost a year to return to normal). When I started on cerazette I had light periods that lasted about 12-14 days, they've become more like spotting and really irregular in length. As I said, have had nothing yet this month and hope it's just this pill and I'm not pregnant as it's not right at the moment. I haven't had any other negative affects but reading other posts, wonder if my breathlessness, weight gain and problem with my contact lenses may be down to this pill too? Am still going to do this pregnancy test just to be sure this time.....

Hi, i'm 17 and was using cerazette for about four months, reccomended by my GP for birth control due to having migranes in the past. I've just recently (two weeks) stopped taking it as I felt it may have been a factor preventing me from losing weight I had gained over those months. I've not had a period yet but from what I have read I gather this is normal.
I was just wondering if I ever wanted to start taking it again should I just start from where I left off on the pack when i finish a period? That seems quite a silly question now I write it but I'm just worried about messing up my body.
Also thought I should mention I too experienced frequent headaches since coming off the pill like others have mentioned.
I probably will use it again because apart from the weight issue (which i'm man enough to admit, really could just be me being paranoid but I just wanted to see) using it was great, a real weight off your mind. Once you get into the routine it's easy to remember and I qickly realised on the few occasions I forgot.

Wow I ramble.

Cerazette

I have been on Cerazette for 5 weeks now and no bleed. Feel as bloated as I would pre period but nothing. Plus I have gained weight and have been really anxious, which is not like me.
By the sounds of it a lot of you ladies have had the same issues and come off it.
I have tried pretty much every type of pill thru my adult life and had some fascinating reactions, so I decided to go get an IUD. Well... they couldn't get it in, so thats why I am now trying Cerazette.
I don't know wether to quit now and go back to my old pill (which was fine) or stick it out a bit longer.
It just doesn't feel natural not having a bleed and weight gain is a pain!!LOL

Vision wrote:Im so glad to have found this page. Here i get to see how other women on this pill are feeling.
I've been on cerazzete for 21 days so far and i begun to notice that my boobs were really tender...begun wondering what was up....getting paranoid that I could be pregnant but then that cant happen cause I have been dilligent with my pill.
I think my breasts are getting bigger as my bra feels tighter and I feel heavier when exercising. I dont want to gain any weight but since i started the pill I am constantly hungry... I crave anything starch.. i seem to have gone on a diet of bread and mashed potatoes, something I havent done for about 10 months.
I may have to go off this pill and find another method of contraception as for me, the positives do not outweight the negatives. I have been working hard to get my weight down and I see it all going to waste right before my eyes.
Is there anyone who has been on the pill for a long time who hasnt put on weight or had their boobs grow bigger. Please help.

On it 5 weeks, hate it. I'm training so am on an eating plan and lots of cardio and should be sweet, but I am sooooooooooooo bloated and stressing about everything. My Dr recommended the copper IUD - no hormones, but they couldn't get it inserted as I haven't had kids. Driving me nuts, I am going back to my old pill. I may have had no libido with it but that was my only side effect!

Cerazette

Postby StephXx » Wed Aug 13, 2008 3:20 am

Hiya, I am going to be 16 on the 13 september, i have been with my boyfriend for over 2 years and he is 2 years older than me and has been waiting patiently for me to become 16 so we can have legal sex. i was on microgyon for about 4 months but my mum took me to the doctor cause i was getting really moody and argued with people for nothing lol my doctor said to go on cerazette, i have been on cerazette now for nearly 2 months, at the begining of the first month i came on my period from the mycrogyon pill and since then i havent had one. to be honest i would rather have periods monthly so that when me and my boyfriend do have sex i wont think im pregnant because i would have a period, not having periods will get me and boyfriend worrying about me being pregnant as we both want a good career before having a baby. After reading the storys about not having periods after coming off the pill is worrying me, i want to come off this pill when im about 20 years old to have a baby, but i want be sure that nothing will stop that happening, has anyone come off cerazette and gone straight back to their normal periods quite quickly??

Please give me some answers and advice, it would really help how i feel :D...thank you in advance :)
StephXx
