Um, ignore my above post. Came on this morning  typical. Good thing though. I would still appreciate anyone's experiences with Loestrin though if there are any, even though I know this thread is about Cerazette.

Hi all
Have been on Cerezette for 10 months and have just stopped taking it.
I was on Binovum for about 15 years and had no problems at all. But...because I was 35 and a smoker the doctor took me off it.
After 2 years I thought I would enquire about other types of pill seeing as I had stopped smoking. I was put onto Cerezette.
I had problems at first with bleeding, not heavy, just enough to cause me bother because it was constant. Gradually the periods got lighter and fewer. I ended up with only a light bleed every 2 months or so.
On Saturday I stopped taking it for the following reasons:
weight gain...gone up 2 dress sizes
hair loss...plug blocked, pillow covered
fatty deposits on the hips and thighs and on my back
my legs look swollen
feeling bloated all the time.

Now I have only been off it for just under a week but am starting to feel less odd and bloated. Can anyone else tell me if the swelling on my legs and thighs will go?? Does the weight come back off?? I have always been a very small person and its really upsetting me, my dovtor wont have it that its this pill thats caused it!!!!!

Hi

I am glad that I have found this thread! I stopped taking Cerazette 8 weeks ago and no sign of my period.....I didn't even get a withdrawal bleed after stopping.

Have done several negative tests and have had pre-menstrual symtoms for the majoirty of this time but still nothing.

Was thinking of going to the GPO but suspect she will just tell me that it is normal as that seems to be the line they take.....

I have tried all pills under the sun and still feel cerezette doesnt agree with me. Vickis experiences have just confirmed that im going to come off it. It is ruining my relationship as all i want to do is argue with my boyfriend (poor bloke) and yet they obvisouly wont understand how us girls feel haha!
I think most of the peels have depressive side effects, or i have found anyway.

Good luck girls,

Jo x

Hi Everyone!
Thank you so much for this discussion board, it's really reassuring.

I was put on cerazette about 3 months ago (I was previously on the combined pill but made the mistake of telling the dr I had migraines) and I have had nothing but trouble since the start.

To begin with I had a period that lasted over 6 weeks, the doctor told me to just persever (sp?) but I felt like I was falling to pieces. His solution was to give me more medication to counteract the side-effects of cerazette! This is seems completely illogical to me, why pump your body full of medication if the first medicine isn't working!?

Anyway, after taking pills to stop the bleeding, my period stopped 6 weeks later and everything seemed fine. Then my breasts became very very painful! They have swelled by at least a cup size and I constantly feel like I am going to cry from the pain. Has anyone else had this kind of constant pain? My mum suggested I take painkillers for them, but again I don't want to take medication to counteract the problems which cerazette is causing.

I am so worried about becoming pregnant that I have convinced myself that my sore breasts must mean I am pregnant. Because I am so anxious I feel sick all the time, this then makes me feel even more worried (Is it morning sickness?) My bf and I always use condoms and I have never missed my pill, so I know that I'm not really pregnant but I just get so anxious I convince myself otherwise.

I am so sick of taking all these tablets and then taking more pills to counteract the side-effects of the first load.

Sorry about the long message, it's just a relief to know that I'm not alone with these problems.

Best wishes, Hayley

I'm glad I found this site. I came off cerazette over 5 weeks ago and was beginning to panic that my period still hadn't arrived. I was on cerazette for just over a year and have put on an extra 2 stones in that time. I didn't have a period at all whilst on it and I've ended up with stretch marks on my stomach for the first time in my life. All this I'm sure is linked to this pill. I was on microgynon for years before with no visible side effects but the doctor refused to prescribe it to me anymore because my blood pressure had crept up and I'd reached the age of 35. I've now gone back to the traditional method of condoms as I too worry about the effects of hormones on my body.

i started cerazette about 7 months ago, at first the bleeding was very light and prolonged then after two weeks of being on this pill the bleeding stopped completely. Until...... i went on holiday a week and a half ago and spotting began for 3days. then it stopped and started again (spotting) yesterday. I am wondering if this is the norm as i hadn't had any spotting or bleeding for 6 or so months, and thought all the initial stopping and starting would have been over the first few weeks!!!! However i feel so much better on this pill than any other and the amenorrea was good for me and am now slightly concerned as to why the spotting has started again. Should i expect this every 6 months or so??????? :?

P.s. i too seem to have gone up from a size 8-10 to a size 12-14 (more like 14 actually). Can anyone tell me if the weight does actually come off when you finish taking it!! i am training to be a midwife and want to try for another baby after my training has ended, however i would like to get my old body back before putting on more weight!!

I've been on cerazette for a year now. Since the week I started I have had no periods. It worried me at first but I spoke to a nurse and she said that this was normal, plus I find it quite a relief not having to worry about periods!
That was the only side effect i noticed for the first few months. After about 8 months I began to lose my sex drive, and mood swings began. I also lost about a stone in weight, and my hair became limp and lifeless.
I take this pill as contraception but also to control hormonal headaches related to oestrogen levels around the time of a period, plus I smoke (but not heavily). I was getting withdrawal headaches during my week off from the previous pill (Cilest), so i switched to the POP.
I am afraid to come off Cerazette in case I start getting headaches again, they have been few and far between since starting this pill. However I worry about my relationship with my boyfriend, as I just am not interested in having sex and its becoming awkward.
Can anyone reassure me and convince me to come off it? I think it's the right thing to do, judging from previous posts on this wall, but I am scared!!!

Thanks!

hi, i was on a combined pill for over a year when i started gettinf migranes so had to switch to cerazette, the combined pill was so easy becasue my periods were regular but with cerazette its all messed up.

iv been on cerazette for 4 months now, my first period on the pill lasted 2 weeks and was very heavy, the second lasted two days and was very light, and ai havnt had one since. i was told that it would make my period irregular, not stop it completely! but its reassuring that other people have experienced the same.

since taking cerazette my sex drive has plummetted -- i thought it was me, but others have felt the same so im not so down about it now. im thinking of changing again. but i smoke - noone has ever told me the effect smoking has on the pill. my nurse just lectures me everytime i say 'yes i smoke' but doesnt tell me how it effects my pill?!

I've been on numerous pills since I was 15

I've had to stop them for medical reasons and have lost a little bit of weight, but along with it have become severely depressed. It does screw with yur emotions.

And that's why I say no when they ask about smoking ;)
