Rompers being one piece are not pants, tho they have 2 legs, pants would have been considered cross dressing.

60s = hippies, girls were either "proper" or hippies. Proper girls had no need for pants, and hippies tended to prefer flowing skirts, however, LOTS of them DID wear pants. On and off stage. In fact, most images I can recall of Janis Joplin were in pants, but I have seen a lot of authentic footage in that History Channel special on hippies and about as many wore pants as not, so that busts your theory there.

Absolutely correct!
I don't like wearing jeans, although my wife bought me some, a few years ago.
Firstly I find them uncomfortable and

No they aren't. They were invented in the 1800's, originally worn by cowboys and farmers because of their toughness.

Today, they come in BOTH women's AND men's variety, but if we look at the origin as a definition, then they, like pants on the whole, are men's clothing - but that's being ridiculous.

I only joined this forum yesterday 15.9.08, and have been following this topic of skirts for men. First, I am 75 yrs young, and lived thru the period of when women first started to wear pants. Except for the period 1939 to 1945 WW2, women did not start to wearing pants until late 60`s, not in the UK. In the war they did, since working on the land, they were given uniforms with pants, climbing up onto heaps of hay in skirts-not on-, and ambulance drivers women wore pants, so it was only for certain jobs when they wore pants. My wother was an ambulance driver. It would be the late 60s when my wife and her femail friends first started wearing. I was not in favour of this, but did not try to stop her. But it took a few years to really catch on. The makers thought at first it was a femail thing and would die out. But after a year or two, when it was not dying out, they saw extra money could be made selling ladies pants. So they started to design pants for women. However, when women started to wear pants in the UK, they were not allowed in some churches in pants, some restaruants would not let them in in pants. They were laughed at in the streets, made fools of, and in general did not have a happy time in pants. But they put up with it all, and look where they are now. However men in skirts. I wear kilts, both tartan and plain black ones, and love it. They are so cool in summer, and warm in winter. I have read on other forums, about women who wont let their husbands have a kilt. But the same women stands there wearing pants. That makes me see red. They do not believe in equality in clothing. So that is my 2 pence worth.

I forgot to mention in my post a few minutes ago. When women first started in pants, they were not been made for women, so they bought pants from mens shops and altered them to fit. In my mind THEY WERE CROSS DRESSING. There is no other way to describe this action. to alter mens pants to fit and wearing them is cross dressing. So men should go and do the same, but wear skirts. However there are firms making skirts for men already, so they are not cross dressing.
Another 2 pennies worth.

Wearing a skirt makes me feel free and is much better for a bloke not to have tight trousers on and feel the air on your leg's is great.

I could not agree more. The feel of the cool air around ones legs is great, but also for men, is the alternative choice of item to wear. When it is cool, many women change into pants, but when the air gets warmer, they put on a dress or skirt, to stay cool and fresh. Not so men, they stay in pants and get hot and bothered. But with skirts for men already been made, they dont have to.
