I don’t think that the size of your clit is that unusual but neither is it common. You have to remember that every embryo starts out with the ability to develop into a male or a female and our sex bits start out the same. Your clit could have developed into a penis and is exactly the same sort of tissue. Blood rushing into a penis makes it grow and stiffen which is exactly what happens to your clit. You’ve even got a foreskin (hood) so your description of it as being “like a little penis” is absolutely accurate. Female labia are really just an empty shrunken scrotum but we don’t develop testicles we develop ovaries.
This explains the wide variation in the size and shape of male and female sexual parts and also why some men are more feminine or some women more masculine. We all started out the same – and its also why a very few get born with both sets of organs.
AnnaKay is correct here. I remember taking a Human Sexuality course at Uni years ago and learning the following (or something similar): What happens is that each embryo starts out as a Female with the first X chromosome (remember there are 2 chromosomes). The embryo begins to develop and at some stage in the development, a change occurs. This change then applies the second chromosome, if the second chromosome is an X, then the embryo continues to develop as a female. If the second Chromosome is a Y, then various chemical changes take place and the embryo begins to change into a male.
When the change occurs, the clitoris grows and develops into a penis. The labia extend and fuse to become the scrotum. And, If memory serves me, the ovaries develop into testicles and drop down. So, the type and amount chemical reactions determines the end result. If there are more "female" chemicals an embryo will develop with a smaller clitoris and labia. With increasing "male" chemicals, the clitoris and labia develops to be larger. And with the full Y chromosome "male" chemicals, you end up with a penis and balls. So, the difference in size relates to the amout of chemicals you were playing with when you were an embryo.
