Send me your address in a PM and I'll effing well post the cutting to you!

Can't you get that I'm busy here?

Jesus wept.

I only want you to re-read it and then realise your error. And then come back and apologise. You may grovel if you wish but I don't insist. I think the IOC factsheet link I posted sort of destroys your argument once and for all...don't you?

No.

And how exactly did you ask your boss about this?

How do you think? Meanwhile, I have taken the Guardian website apart and there is nothing, absolutely nothing pertaining to what you suggest. Plenty backing me up though. :upyours:

I don't have time. In case you missed it. Honestly, we're looking at tomorrow now before I can rule on this.

Incidentally:

heralds were summoned to travel throughout Greece to announce the Games

That's from the Olympic Torch Relay site. I think the balance has swung back in my favour.

Has. It. F*ck. That is hardly a torch relay. Admit Lucy...sometimes you are WRONG and on this occasion you are so very, very wrong.

At least watch the first youtube video link I posted. Or read some of my other posts...some from your beloved Guardian no less.

Well? I'm still waiting.

Are they the same "heralds in ancient Greece"?

Do you not agree that the purpose of the torch relay across the land is to herald* the games?

* a person or thing viewed as a sign that something is about to happen

Admit it Lucy, you lost this one and you are clutching at the very thinnest of straws. I am still waiting for evidence that a torch relay happened prior to the 1936 Olympics or the one you said happened in Britain at the turn of the century. I have presented my proof (the IOC website, the BBC website, Wikipedia, Reuters, the Guardian) etc etc etc...now where is yours?

Hestia (one of the greater Gods of Mt Olympus) has the symbol of a torch... indeed the flame from the public hearth was carried to wherever the citizens were off to. Also in ancient Greece when a girl was married the mum would traditionally carry a flame lit from her old home to the hearth of the newlyweds.

Hestia's traditional spot was at Delphi, the centre of the world and the original site of the four yearly Pythian games.
Do it now...before it's too late.....
