my life is at a stand still

Postby willieworm » Tue Jun 12, 2012 3:54 pm

Hi.
Iam a 51 year old wife and mother of four adult kids . i have run my own business from home for twenty years which iam very proud of but now bored of. My marriage has not been right for a good ten years but i have stayed mainly for financial reasons. i feel taken for granted and so so bored. i have tried everything in my power to sort my marriage but as the problems are the way my husband treats me and although we have talked and talked about it , nothing ever changes. He is a lovely loyal hard working man but so boring and stuck in his own world. I have looked for another job outside the house but as we live in a relatively small place there are not a lot of jobs. i have a good income and would find it hard to get the same in a nine to five job. I will have to stay for another two years until my daughter finished uni and my youngest is finished college but iam so struggling !
What do i do ?????????????????????????????

Why do you need to stay until the kids have finished uni and college?

My mum left my dad last year. She is 53 and had changed greatly in the 35 years they were married. Although it was scary starting out on her own, she has never regretted it. Your kids will understand, they want their parents to be happy.

thanks for your reply. i have to stay for financial reasons. my daughter has another two years until she is finished uni and if i left there would not be enough money to do that. i have seen the other two through uni and my youngest is at college so i feel i have to stay until the pressure is of financially.

Ah, well I can understand that. Perhaps then these couple years can be used to to allow your husband an opportunity to keep you. Let him know the severity of your feelings. Perhaps move into a spare room, I know that for my mother having a space of her own was a big help to clarify what she wanted.
