I found the above link to an article in the Independent quite interesting in regards to this, the theory being that some men are born with the traits that make them bad boys, this includes an ability to seduce (think James Bond), therefore they have more sexual partners and they get to sow their wild oats further. Evolution.

Nice guys is kind of subjective, for instance when I met my now wife she was seeing someone else (and had been for 3 years) that didn't stop me pursuing, wooing and stealing her away from him. Now at face value I probably wasn't a very nice guy to do that but my wife would describe me as a nice guy.

I think there's also a bit of a instinctive thing going on, we are all animals after all, I guess bad boys seem more like the alpha male pack leader sort and women are instinctively more attracted to them. In the same way most men are instinctively drawn more to women with big boobs and hips because the primitive bit of our brain tells u that means they would be good at child bearing.

I cannot stand so called "nice guys". I want a man to be a man, none of this wimpish new man nonsense. For example one guy I dated briefly used to ask my permission before he put any kind of moves in me. Total passion killer. On the other hand, I was once dancing with this guy in a club when without warning and withous saying anythin he pushed me against the wall quite firmly in a dark corner and shoved his hand up my skirt pushed my panties to one side and proceeded to dircreetly finger me right there in the club.
