Re: the pill...cerazette

Postby oh my pill » Fri May 25, 2012 10:18 pm

I am 21, i have no health issues and i am the correct height and weight, I have taken cerazette for a year, and have found numerous issues. Firstly no period after 3months of taking it, finally i became regular, with a heavy bleed 3 days and fading out by 7th, which suited me fine. I am now on my next period, however this has been so heavy im having to change every 30mins/hour and i am almost in my third week. What concerns me, is that the colour is now more the colour of when you cut your hand than my normal period colour?! Is anybody familiar with this, or what I should do?

these last three weeks ive been feeling constantly bloated, exhausted and ran down. Light at the end of the tunnel, please?

heres an update from me:
I stopped cerazette after almost 6 months. i was bleeding almost every day. i couldnt get a doctors appointment to talk about it, so i just stopped. almost 2 months later and im on my 5th period in 2 months since stopping. its really annoying, but better then bleeding as frequently as i was. since starting and stopping cerazette i have put on about 4kg, and its slowly going up. i am exercising more and dieting, but the weight is increasing. my breasts were so tender and sensitive they hurt to be touched, even very gently.
i will never take any sort of hormone birth control ever again, or the coil, implant etc. my fiance and i are just going to stick to the withdrawal method, worked fine before!
also we had almost no sex whilst i was on the pill, i didnt want to start bleeding on him, and he didnt want that to happen either. now we are back to our usual amount of sex :)
i wish i had never gone on cerazette.

i also had different colour bleeds. sometimes it would be a dark brown, like old blood, other times it was very bright red, almost pink-ish. my period colours before the pill started off a normal blood red (like when u cut yourself) then would brown-out as my period ended.
i also was really moody on cerazette, now i have stopped it i am much better. i didnt notice i was moody, it was only by asking people that were around me a lot did i learn how moody it was making me.
@oh my pill, if i was you, i would go to the doctors as that much blood loss can affect you. it sounds like you are having a 3week long super heavy period.
@alundra, i now don't think any birth control which changes your hormones is "best", i am steering clear of them completely!
@hopefully helping you are right, it stops egg release, but as it is not 100% effective sometimes an egg can be released regardless of whether or not you missed a pill. according to the cerazette leaflet which comes with the pills most people are supposed to have a regular period, with some people having irregular ones, and an extremely small minority have no period at all.

Hi Peeps
I have been on cerazette for 2 months now and am gettign used to it, the only thing i've found is that my hair is getting thinner & finer, have any of you experienced this too? Apart from that I've not put on weight and am eating the same and exercising no differently. One bonus I would give cerazette is that i don't have that horrible bloated feeling a week before my period like i did on the combined pill.. I've not had a proper period since being on cerazette, 2-3 days of light bleeding which was nothing when I finished my first pack but since then nothing.. going to start my 3rd pack next week so hopefully all will still be fine x
I still get sensitive but not as many mood swings as previous combined pill

Ive been taking this pill for two years now. i stop every 6 months to allow a bleed, otherwise ive had none. I've not put weight on, had skin probems or lost sex drive. I have read many of the posts about this pill and it just goes to show you that everyone is different and will therefore react differently to each prescription. Hope everyone's problems stop soon.

I was wondering if anyone has moved onto other Progesterone Only Pills and had better results for mood swings??? I know it all works differently for people but wondered if anyone had any positive feed back for other mini pills. I have been on cerazette for 3.5 years and get quite irrational mood swings and so am thinking of changing. I can only have progesterone only pills and wanted some feed back from people who have used it before heading to the doctors.

thanks

Hello, please help! I have been on cerezette for about 18 months. I have continued to have normal periods as I have done on every other pill. However I stopped taking cerezette 2 weeks ago when I was due on but still no period. I find it strange because of having them while I was on it so surely stopping it shouldn't then stop my periods?? It says in the leaflet that if you have periods whilst you are on cerezette then you are still ovulating so thought I must have just ovulated when I stopped taking it and got pregnant but done 4 tests all negative.

Has anyone been on this pill and carried on having normal periods come off it with similar?

Hi Tiny90,

As mentioned in my post on the previous page I was on Cerazette for about 1.5 years with constant bleeding and some mood swings. I finally went to the doctor to change the pill and am now on Micronor (the doctor recommended it). I've only been taking it for a few days so I can't give a proper feedback yet, but so far I haven't <knock on wood> noticed any negative side effects. I'll post again in a few weeks time with an update. :) But the best thing I guess is going to the doctor and asking him/her for advice.

Re: the pill...cerazette

Hey,

So, I've had a really annoying time with the pill!...I had been on microgynan for about 5 years or more and on a pill check up at my doctors I was told they wanted to take me off this pill as my BMI had shifted over what it should be!( according to the medical charts I'm classed as obese but I am only a size 14!) Understandable as I'm aware that you are at more risk of clots etc when you are on that pill...I was put onto Cerazette!

Had no periods and I find that quite unsettling as it just doesn't feel natural, gained weight even though I had just started dieting to try and get my BMI healthy and had lost weight and now I'm a bloated balloon!

My questions to you are this....has anyone ever suffered with headaches on this pill? I have, or so it seems. However, when I went and told my doctor this she said that I wouldn't have been suffering from headaches because of this pill!
I've stopped taking it and the headaches have gone! I tried it for 3 months and felt it wasn't right for me at all!
Also been diagnosed with very bad constipation, has anyone had this side effect?!

I am pill free and waiting for a period! Despite a little spot I am awaiting their return!

Hi everyone,

As there are people here who have been taking Cerazette longer than I have, I was wondering if your initial experience was anything like what's currently going on with me.

The first pill I took was Yasmin (for 3 months), which completely screwed me up (depression, mood swings, anxiety, heart palpitations, headaches, migraines etc...)
Due to the frequent debilitating migraines, the family planning clinic gave me Cerazette.

I've had a long break between stopping Yasmin and trying Cerazette, and my side effects went and my periods regulated each month (well as best as they can as i suffer from Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome).
I started taking Cerazette in the 1st day of my next period 3 weeks ago.
Since then I've had constant bleeding, seeming no different than to a normal period.

So far I've had no other side effects (other than possible pins and needles in my legs, though that could just be a coincidence...).
I know my body has to adjust to the new pill and I should probably stick to taking it but after 3 weeks of bleeding with no sign of stopping, I'm tired, fed up and horny lol (definately no side effect of decreased libido!)

I don't want to stop taking it unnecessarily if it's going to settle down soon and due to the lack of side effects so far, it could be a good choice for me. But at the moment it feels like this bleeding is going on forever and if I can stop this by stopping taking Cerazette, it's becoming very tempting!

K.x

Could someone give me a direct reply to this coz im in the same boat:

Hi, I've literally just started cerazette yesterday (on the first day of my period). I was under the impression that your period was pretty much stop, well thats what the nurse said, does your first period carry on as normal or does it stop or what?! or does it differ for different people?! I dont have a clue!

Thanks!
