Re: Gastric Balloon

Postby secretballoon » Sun Aug 08, 2010 12:32 am

I'm due to have mine on September 11, and it's the whole package of support that has attracted me. I'm not sure I'm prepared for the sickness, but I've been thoroughly warned and know it's inevitable :(

I've tried so many things before and failed and because of that I'm keeping it all a bit of a secret, but to keep myself going and to have someone to talk to, I've started a blog at secretballoon.blogspot.com. Fingers crossed that it will be useful inspiration and a good diet diary too.

Can anyone tell me what to expect? I have two weeks off work post-procedure which I'm hoping will give me ample time to adjust.

Thanks!

Re: Gastric Balloon

Hi everyone!

Having my balloon fitted on 15th Dec. Bit nervous about it to be honest. My consultant says I need to lose about 4 stone and should lose about 2 and half stone with the balloon. Just worried that once I have it taken out that I'm going to pile it all back on :( I've started a blog to tell the whole warts and all story because there doesn't seem to be any proper stories apart from ones on the private health sites and to be honest they're probs a bit biased. Let me know what you think. Wish me luck!

Re: Gastric Balloon

hi all im deb from west yorkshire, i had my gastric balloon fitted 10 days ago on the nhs, the procedure was horrible, i started throwing up after about an hour after the op and the first 4 days were horrendous with vomiting and cramps totally bedbound i was, i dehydrated terribly and the fact you can only sip and not gulp your drink makes it worse as i did actually gulp a few times and i knew i was guna be sick but the thirst was unreal, my saviour for the dehydration was ice lollies, and drinks laden with ice cubes drunk with a spoon, i havent been sick for the last 3 days which is ace, i get a cramp occassionally and at the minute i know the balloon is there, i have eaten very little and often half a weetabix for breakfast, petite filous for dinner and the other half of weetabix for tea, makes me giggle as im writing this as i am a very very big girl eating like a bird i weighed 28.13st 10days ago and now weigh 27.4 working out at 23lb lost already!

today has been a great day i am eating little and often, oh watch out for the runs,

An interesting discussion is value comment. I think that you must write extra on this subject, it may not be a taboo subject but usually people are not enough to speak on such topics. To the next. Cheers! Vacuum Storage Bags

I am going for the consultation later this week and was wondering whether to opt for the 6 month balloon or the 18month one. Does anyone have an opinion? I have read a mixture of comments - good and bad - so I will remain hopeful that I can use it to work for me. Any opinion greatly received.

MTV are making a documentary on dieting and body image and are looking for people to take part in it. We are looking for people who have taken or are considering taking extreme steps to achieve the perfect body who would be willing to share their stories with us.

Have you been on a bizarre diet to try to shed the pounds?

Have you been on a crash diet or taken diet pills and been on the receiving end of some nasty side effects?

Are you considering having - or have already had - weight loss surgery or liposuction and would like to share your story with us?

If so please e-mail [email protected] or call Liban on 0207 284 7689 as soon as possible to have a chat about the programme. I look forward to hearing from you!
