Help!

Postby Niamhy » Mon Sep 01, 2008 11:24 pm

Hey,
Ive recently started back on cilest after a year break and am already gaining weight and my sex drive is completely gone!! :(

I was on yasminelle for a while and i experienced no side effects at all. Is yasminelle effective as cilest in terms of protection?

Can anyone suggest any other pills that wont affect my sex drive??

Cilest

Postby Macy » Tue Sep 09, 2008 8:18 pm

I have been on Cilest for 3 years and not really had a problem. My period is perfection, always when I expect and even though I have been a little careless with it I have not had the pitter patter of tiny feet!
My skin cleared so much but now the greasiness has upped again so I think it may be time to change. I was told Cilest can make you depressed and I have had a bit of a grey cloud over me for a while so it could be related. My weight did go up by a stone but then again I do little exercise and love fat Coca-Cola!

I've had no problem with cilest when it comes to periods. The only thing it's done is get rid of my libido, which is why i'm going to the sexual health clinic tomorrow and changing again!

Cilest was my first pill, after a while i realised it was making me depressed and not really helping with the pain. In fact I started having minor panic attacks, which have completely gone since I changed to femodene. The Doctor looked at me as if I was mad for wanting to change though!

Cilest

Postby eeyore » Thu Sep 11, 2008 4:03 pm

I've been on Cilest for about 10 years, and have got many of the side effects mentioned on this thread (complete loss of sex drive, mood swings, weight gain etc). I went to my GP about the lack of sex drive, and he completely pooh-poohed the idea that it could be the pill causing the problem. I've been measuing my daily calorie intake, and since I'm only eating about 1600 calories a day but still gaining weight, I'm putting the blame fairly and squarely on the pill.

Does anyone have any expereince of how long after coming off Cilest it takes before things start "getting back to normal"? I'm starting to conclude that I would rather put up with the acne and irregular, heavy periods than Cilest side effects.

ive been on cilest for a year now and reading these posts makes so much sense to me! was on microgynon before and had a really high sex drive but now i have nothing, dont think about sex at all! maybe that went with the pill. i have also put on weight and am finding it massively hard to shift. i had no ideas cilest could cause such problems!! thanks ladies! x

cileste

Postby wjc » Sat Sep 20, 2008 12:34 pm

I started on Mycrogynon four months ago.. had constant mid cycle bleeding... doctor changed to Cileste and to be honest it has been the worst thing for me... I have become very very depressed, anxious, have lost weight rather than gained it.. pins and needles down my arms and across my back.. nervous, feeling like I can't cope.

I hate feeling like this so I researched Cileste and discovered that I was not alone. There is no doubt that any pill taking has risks but I really don't like the way I feel at the moment... I can say it has been a very bad experience for me and have chucked the rest of the pack away..

CILEST

Postby DIRTYDANCER21 » Thu Sep 25, 2008 5:41 pm

HI, ive only been taking cilest for a few months. I was abit worried as i havent been on the pill for about four years due to bad time with last one. But im actually much happier with this one, sure ive got side affects like tender breasts but i have quite small breasts and with a little bit of pain comes a gain in size which im not going to complain about.I have put on a small amount of weight but havent been to the gym or swimming for a few weeks. My periods are now totally predictable with less pain. l have mood swings at that lovely time but i did even when i wasnt on the pill. And the main reason why i am still taking it is because unlike lots of womens reports my sex drive has gone through the roof and before that i had practically no want to have sex apart from just before my period which is not the best time!I hope this helps if ure thinking about taking it x

Cilest

Postby bells » Thu Oct 02, 2008 1:40 pm

Hi, I've been on Cilest for nearly 10 years now & I've never had any problems with it. I usually finish the pill on a Wednesday & my period arrives on the Sat night/Sunday morning & ends on the following Thursday when I go back on the pill but on my last period however they didn't finish until the following Monday which was 9 days of torment! Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this?
Thanks..

Re: Cilest

Postby monkeysocks » Wed Mar 04, 2009 7:20 pm

I'm just about to start taken cilest and having read through the information provided I'm still a bit unclear of one thing!!
It's is right that you're still proctected during your 7 days "off"? It seems unclear whether you'll bleed for the whole 7 days and I'm concern that if I'm able to have sex with my partner during any of the 1-7 of the no cilest week that there's a chance I could get pregnant?
Any idea's or information would be great!

Fisrt time user-Cilest

Postby StarChime » Sun May 10, 2009 2:12 am

Hey, i have just started taking cilest and at first was fine, apart from moodyness, but after 1 1/2 months i am bleeding every day which didn't happen at first. I have no loss of sex drive or any other side effects described on here and was curious if anyone else experienced a lot of bleeding? Enough to have to wear a sanitary towel every day. I was on microgynon for a number of years but took a break from contraceptive pills as was not in a relationship and had no side effects from it. Hope someone can help or advise if this bleeding will ever stop or if it's normal. Have heard of breakthrough bleeding but it seems excessive???? :-) much appreciated x

Has this bleeding happend to anyone else.
Also when i first started on it i bled for over 2 weeks so dont know if that means it doesnt agree with me.
Went to docs this morn said to try going back on Microgynon cos stronger and if bleed again go back and need check for infection... very worried....PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

Hey,

I've only been on cilest the past two months but i also experienced the same late bleeding! I started my period 2-3 days after my first batch of pills, it was very worrying to both me and my boyfriend because we worried it hadn't worked! Hope that helps, I think its a possible side effect, I was thinking it was maybe something to do with the fact that I've always been very irregular.

I've just finished my second packet of cilest today so I havent been on it long but I've noticed the following side effects: sore breasts and weight gain, which seems quite common from what I've read so far. However my skin used to be quite clear, but now my chin has errupted in spots that I just can't seem to get rid of! Tried cleansing products, face masks etc. My skin hasnt been this bad for ages so I presume its due to cilest.

Also, I've got an itchy rash all over my thighs. At the top of my thighs and on my bottom I've got larger red bumps which are very itchy also. I don't think they're spots, they kinda feel and look like a bug bite but since I can't shake them and I've had them for the past couple of months, I think it must be a side effect of cilest.... the instructions that come with it mention a side effect that sounds like what I have ("-skin rashes, patches of darkened skin, small red marks on skin, red lumpy swellings on legs").

Has anyone else experienced this? Does it go away after awhile? If not is there anything I can do without having to stop taking the pill? Should I see my doctor?

After reading previous posts it seems that different pills have a different effect, is this the case and if so am I better off trying a different pill?

Cheers, Rachael

Hello,

I am so relieved to hear that I can now blame Cilest for my symptoms! After 4.5-5 years of it being the perfect pill for me, I decided it was time to let my body have a break.
All of a sudden, I'm bloated , my spots have returned with abundance, and I'm gaining weight.
I now realise that while I was on it, it didn't cause me to gain weight, and gave me lighter periods - it is the cause of what I thought were a form of keyloid scars but after reading your post I realise it isn't that at all!!
In the las 6-12 months of taking it I think I"ve developed the symptoms......has anyone else had that happen after experiencing 'the perfect pill?'

Thanks for putting my mind at ease a little!
