Hey guys. I got my belly button pierced a little over 3 months ago. Anyways... at the top (and a little bit on the bottom as well) it's slightly red. It looks like a ring surrounded the top hole around the jewelry. It doesn't puss too often and it's not painful. From I can see and feel, the redness is the only thing bothering me. Is there any way to get rid of it? I clean it once to twice a day and I don't use sea salt soaks or saline. I'm thinking about switching jewelry and seeing if that helps any. If you guys suspect it's infected, get medical attention right away. And DO NOT take the jewelry out; this may lead to worse problems. Because if you do, your body will naturally start closing up the hole, trapping the infection inside. Trust me, you don't want to deal with that. Hope this helps.

Ive been cleaning it and using some sea salt mixed with warm water a few times every day and its still red and pussing a little bit. The top hole looks looser like its been stretched a little. Im not sure if its infected or if its normal. Should i take it out or leave it in?? :?

i got my belly button pierced about a week and a half ago it looked perfect .. the guy recommended i used dial and H2ocean ( purified sea salt water ) i didnt have Dial but i bought the H20cean its great it stops the itching and cleans it nice. I stupidly thought hand soap would be good enough bc its antibacterial but turns out YOU SHOULD NOT USE HAND SOAP NEOSPORIN ALCHOHOL OR HYDROGEN PEROXIDE while its healing..

after 3 days i got dial.. my belly button ring hurted liek once or twice .I felt the difference after i bought it . But i am really glad i bought the sea salt water because it really does alot and helps and my belly button ring is doing better then some people who got it done with me .

its red and has some puss around the top i really hope it goes away.Sometimes the skin would also peel . My friends who had it done a yr ago say its alright and they had the same problem but just to NOT TOUCH IT .. and it will go away sooner

hopefully it will go away and so will yours :-)

A possible solution to red and sore bellybutton peircings

Postby bellydancer » Fri Oct 29, 2004 12:13 pm

I have had the same problem but with my ears. I had to go to a gold earings and I have been fine ever since. I am going to get my belly button pierced today and I have decided to go with a gold or perhaps a surgical steel if they are available. I will let you all know if it works.

Ahhhh

Postby Artisticdream1 » Tue Nov 02, 2004 6:10 pm

Hey, my name is Katie and I just turned 16. For my birthday I got my belly button pierced. The piercing it self didn’t not hurt but it is starting to hurt more and more each day. It is really red and really puffy. It is wicked gross and looks really bad. It has only been 5 days but I think it is getting infected. Is this normal? Am I over reacting? Could it get infected after only 5 days?

A cure for the red ring

Postby rhondat915 » Sun Nov 07, 2004 1:50 pm

THIS REALLY WORKS.
My 14 year daughter had her belly button pierced and had the same problem. She didn't want to remove the piercing this is what we were told and it really worked. The ring aroung the jewelry is a callus (often referred to as a keloid) it is the body rejecting the jewelry. Don't remove it, use a few drops of 100% pure tea tree oil on the area, soften skin until you can spin it then coat the jewelry with it and spin it to make sure some gets in the piercing. Do this two or three times a day and at night take a plain aspiring chop it up and dissolve in water to make a paste put it on the area and leave it on for 15 - 20 minutes and rinse by the end of two weeks hers was completely healed and looks great. Good luck!!!
