effects of cilest

Postby xxcharxx » Tue May 09, 2006 8:39 pm

heya,
i have just taken the first of my first course of the cilest pill. i've read all of the instructions; it's the first day of my period, so i'm covered immediately, but will this period continue as normal? or will it now stop or what?

i'd be really interested in anyone's experiences with this pill too as i've heard some great opinions and some awful ones!!

Thanks v much!

Hi there,

Like you, I have just started using cilest, and had heard some pretty awful things about it too! But I'm nearing the end of my first packet and have to admit that things have been great on it, and I'm feeling great too! I was nauseous on day 2, but put that down to having a major exam that day, and things have been fine since! I get the occasional headache, but that's nothing new for me. Have had some slight spotting, but nothing too major.

In response to your question, your period will continue as normal, it won't stop. Then you will have your withdrawal bleed after your 21 days of taking the pill, and start your new packet after the 7 day break (on the same day that you took the pill in the first place).

Hope that makes sense! If you have any more questions etc, then ask away :)

Cilest pill to the BIN!

Postby Cloe » Sun May 21, 2006 10:50 pm

I am in the UK since December 2005, I was taking my pill but when I ran out of it I had to visit my GP...but it was a nurse who gave me the prescription: Mycroginon 30, the worst ever!. I had nauseas and headaches and I had to stop taking it fater a week.
Then I went to my GP and the prescritio was Cilest...I have taken it for 2 weeks and I feel nauseas as well, but the worst of all are the bad mood swings, I'm ultra sensitive these days...I'm throwing Cilest to the bin now and ask for an appointment with a Gynecologist, something I should have done since the beginning.

hhhhmmmm oh dear... well I've been taking it about two and a half weeks now and it seems to be ok so far. Bad mood swings at first but totally settled down now. I have started to feel a little sick sometimes though (causing yet more panics about pregnany) until I read the booklet and it says that that can happen. I've also had some spotting but that's it. The worst thing for me is that I have put on loooads of weight in just two weeks...something I really can't stand.

The whole experience has been totally worth it so far but I am definately going to see GP/family planning this week to talk through some other options.

Thanks very much for the replies, keep 'em coming!

I'm getting a bit worried now though, as I haven't stopped bleeding this whole month - much much lighter than a period but still noticeable - is that normal? Also, I'm taking medication for anemia, is this likely to exacerbate the problem?

I bled through my whole first pack, had a 4 day period as usual and my cycle went back to normal.

Also, you are definitely covered for your pill free week. Don't panic.

My mood swings lasted a 3 weeks and I'm fine now. Eat lots of vegetables with B vitamins and zinc or take a supplement if you are having troubles. I was amazed at the difference it made to me.
