I've been taking Cilest for a month now. My sex drive is gone, I'm tired all the time, I feel week, light-headed and irritable. I've also gotten this strange itchy rash on my neck which has spread to my chin. I hate it! I'm coming off it as of tomorrow!

im so relieved. Been bleeding heavily for 2 weeks - it started half way though my last packet. Its as bad as when you have just given birth. I've been to the doctors and he said come back when it has stopped FFS!! He told me I am overdue a smear test so I should get one done asap. Ive taken the pill on and off for years - been on cilest for a year!

Oh my god, i feel like crying with relief.

I have been on Cilest about a year or so (at least 9 months, maybe a bit longer than a year). It is awful with regulating periods and regularly got spotting but I didn't notice any other side effects. About two months ago i ran the packs together and I'm still bleeding when I'm taking it! Also, rashes, lightheadedness, sore boobs, etc.

The biggie, though- I have been going out of my MIND. Extreme, extreme anxiety, depression, obsessive unwanted thoughts, crying, thinking I am going crazy. After a week of this I realised I couldn't cope on my own and told my boyfriend. He asked why, and I said, i don't know! It's like someone is pulling my emotions for no reason, there's no actual REASON I just cannot control these awful waves of sheer panic. i have had real panic attacks where I've collapsed.

He told me it could be the Pill. His sister had same reaction and had to stop, and I remembered 2 years ago I felt like this on Microgynon, stopped because I realised it was connected, and was fine til now. i don't know why I forgot. Luckily, I was on my Pill-free week.

I'm never taking it again. I'm now on my third pill-free day and now I've started noticing a difference. i'm not 100% myself but it feels as if the clouds are going from my mind, that my emotions are more stable, that I'm more 'normal.'

So glad I'm not the only one. I've read other reviews about it too, and it's a relief I'm not alone.

Hey Girls and Boyfriends reading this, just wanted to let you know my experiences on the pill. I think i'm on about my 4th one at the moment I Started on Ovrenette and had my period for an entire month!!! was so relieved when it finally stopped but i was'nt sure if this was normal situation so i eventually contacted doctor and changed to yasmin which caused me to gain weight and just in general not feel good in myself. I was changed on to Microlight which started of great no spots, no weight gain but severe depression and crying over abosuletly nothing!!! Could be walking down the street and just burst into tears so boyfriends out there if you notice your girlfriend like this maybe question her pill, I am very lucky to have such a supportive boyfriend as i have been a crazy women on all these pills with moods crying and weight gain, Hence to say i moved off Microlight and on to my Current pill Cilest which started off brilliant no weight gain or spots, everything was fine until i hit severe depression, spending days not wanting to get out of bed, lying on couch watching television, not wanting to talk to anyone let alone my boyfriend lucky for me he persisted and always cheered me up aswell as great friends to talk to and who are very understanding. but yet again the tears crying over nothing!!! Hence i am not changing from Cilest. i have monitored myself on my 7 day pill free week when get my period and im 100% fine. all is good in my life thank god job and family and friends are great, so there is no need for depression or tears so im on the search again. has anyone gone thru this im going to use other method s of protections until i find a suitable pill. I know we are trying to avoid getting pregnant but surely there has to be something else other than having to experience all these Side effects which affect our everyday life!!!!!

Re: effects of cilest

I was taking Microgynon for about 5 years and I suffered very badly from acne breakouts on my chin and around my mouth area (which is apparently caused by hormones rather than diet or anything like that). When I broke up with my boyfriend I didn't see any reason to be taking contraceptives anymore so I stopped taking them. I immediately saw an improvement in my skin, although I still did get the occasional breakout (sadly I think that's something I will never be fully free of) but they were nowhere near as red, angry and sore as they had been when I was on Microgynon.

I have recently decided to go back on the pill so I spoke to my doctor about what would be best for me since I am prone to acne. She has decided to try me on Cilest but after just one week of taking it, my appetite has soared. I can't stop eating whereas before this I had very little appetite and was doing well on my diet. I have experienced frequent headaches, some so bad that all I want to do is lie down in a darkened room until it goes away. Alongside that I have felt extremely nauseous. I have also spent every single night this week crying for hours and feeling suicidal. I have suffered depression in the past but for months now I have felt happy, positive and strong. Now since taking Cilest depression has suddenly hit me out of the blue again for no reason at all.

On a positive note, my spots are clearing up. They haven't completely gone because obviously it's only been a week, but they are definitely improving.

So I guess Cilest effects everyone differently, and there are positives and negatives. Not sure how much longer I'll be giving Cilest a chance though.... what good is clear skin if the pill drives me to suicide?

I've been taking Cilest for nearly a week now. I think felt sick but tbh that's about the only noticeable side affect I have had. I also find that I feel really panic-y when I take it I start shaking really badly and almost feel my chest become tight but thats only happened a couple of times.

The thing I am completely terrified is the hair thinning thing....I've read that more than once and it scares me....I love my hair sounds vain but it's really worrying me now. How many have experienced this????????

I've been on Cilest for 2 years and 3 months now and feel really great. Before I went on these pills I had very irregular periods and extremy pain during the periods. Since I start taking pills I know when are my periods and don't feel any pain what so ever.

Few years ago I was on different pills (can't remember name but the package was light green colour). I always fely very sick and always worried that I might be pregnant.

So, personaly for me Cilest is the best.

Hi, I have just found this page and am so glad that I did :) I have been suffering from night sweats for ages but have only just linked it to this pill. I used to just get them during my break but now they are constant,I was afraid I was starting the menopause and that is what made me look Cilest up!
I have been on Cilest for about 3 1/2 years now and looking back I have felt pretty low all that time. I just thought it was my busy life but have realised that my life has always been busy and I never felt this way before! I have been on so many pills since the age of 15 and this one seems to have suited me really well but in hindsight I have been having problems for just about all the time I have been on it. Other symptoms I have been experiencing are lack of sex drive, hair thinning, chest pain, bad skin and dizziness. I am going to come off this pill asap and see if these things improve but am scared to try another one after all this time. This pill could well have helped to end my marriage, what a nightmare :( Looking forward to seeing how life is cilest free! :D :D

Hi I am so glad to have found this site.
I was taking cilest for 6 months and only now after deciding to come off I have realised that it may have caused the depression I was feeling! I was feeling really low and all of a sudden started being a very sensitive b**ch to my great boyfriend, I never wanted to go out with friends anymore and just felt very stressed about everything. I didn't initially link the low feeling to my pill but when I decided to tell a family member how I was feeling I also decided to come off the pill to try taking st johns wort (it cancels out the pill) anyway st johns wort gave me pretty instant headaches and nausea within about an hour or 2 so I'm not using them but have since not taken the pill again. My moods have improved I have stopped crying and snapping at everyone I can't believe I went through 6 months thinking it was me that had a problem!! I do want to start taking a pill again but very wary about what one to try? any ideas?
sorry about the lenght of this just very relieved that I wasn't the only one :D

Hi

I know how you feel!

Well my Fiancé came across this page last night and I'm really glad that he found it.

I have been on Cilest for a couple of years now, might be longer I'm not sure.

I haven't had a sex drive for ages, well years. I am a very emotional person and can cry at the simplest of things all the time.

For the past few months I have been depressed and really struggling with obtrusive thoughts. I am really anxious and paranoid all the time. I have been seeing a counsellor and he asked yesterday which pill I am on and said some can cause depression and anxiety. After reading all these stories I am wondering if this medication has made me feel the way I do? Up until a few years ago I was a happy care free women with a great relationship and enjoyed a healthy sex life. I haven't felt happy in myself for a couple of years, I cry all the time and am very negative and anxious. In reality I don't have anything to worry about, I have a good life, I''m just not happy for some reason and used to be.

Considering going to the Doctors to come off Cilest.

Would be interested in people's opinions?

Thanks,

Lindsay

Just thought I'd add my 2p worth, I've been fine on cilest once I started taking it properly - I was throwing up with it when I took it before bed (effectively on an empty stomach) but when I started taking it after breakfast I was fine. My moods have been normal too - I've had depression in the past so I do have to keep an eye on these things. I have gained a few pounds but that's prob more due to the fact that I got a boyfriend and eat out a lot more than I used to!
