Hi again Tracy

I've found a really useful website that might help your friend make a decision on the Kia. She needs to go to www.whatcar.com/kia Seemingly all the Kias are reviewed and both plus and minus points are highlighted. There are also video reports on there of some of the models and furthermore a female perspective on them!

Now 'WhatCar' is British and she will have to be aware that the models on the website may be a little different from those sold to America or at least might carry different names. Not necessarily the case but could be.

I hope that she finds the information useful!

Brian

Well, I did get a bit of a surprise when I logged in and saw the name of this new thread. I don't mind my name being used in the title, although if I'd started it I probably would have given it a more generic name. I suppose that, if anything, it means I'll have to be a regular contributor...............

What lovely period pieces these commercials are Fran! But I'm not sure that "Trim, Taut, Terrific" was ever going to be the best catchphrase in the World!!

4.37 Brian - couldn't you sleep??

Being prepared nearly got me a night in a cell.

In my college days i would sometimes walk up the road to my gf's place. Apparently tgere had ben a spate of burglaries in the area because i was stopped a few times by the police and asked to explain why I was out and about. On one occasion I had a briefcase type bag full of books etc. This time the police officer made me empty the contents onto the pavement. When he saw ot was only books he let me go of course. I wasn't best pleased however and when i got back to my digs I angrily emptied the briefcase onto my bed so that I could sort it again. This time a flap in the bottom of the bag opened and a hefty screwdriver and one or two other tools for my bike tumbled out onto the covers lol. Luck escape or what.

Btw I wanted to insert a pic of me at 20 yrs old but i can't seem to insert an image - any advice??

bbtw shall i stop posting in Gerald on motoring

bbbtw Ruth and tracy what about that clothes peg

bbbbtw Tracy what did you do before you tried the first 7?

Gerald

I sometimes wake up about then (I am a 66 year old bloke lol!). For some reason I seem at my most alert about that time and quite often have a bowl of cereal, see what Fran and Tracy have been up to while I have been asleep and even play my hammered dulcimer a bit. Then I might go back to bed for an hour or two! Crazy or what! But daily commuting is a thing of the past thank goodness - how did I put up with that?!? So my timings have become highly variable, who knows when I might pop up with a post lol!

If we're going to kill off the other thread, there's still a bit of unfinished business in it:

Well - it's not a Holden (Holden were building car bodies at this time, but not manufacturing cars - and at the time this car was built, they weren't part of GM either) - does anyone have any comments?

Hi guys,
I'm up and rolling on a Friday. I think we are 8 hours behind you. So many questions may have to get to some later.

That car Fran posted is a beauty. To ride around in a car like than in Bismarck, ND would be a hoot.

I think the cloths pegs are to hold something in place...could be a lot of things I guess.

The first 7 pulls were with just the choke out. Then I went around a gave it a couple of pumps. I try that next time from cold. Trial and error but sure felt good to be able to hand crank my car. I surely want be doing it every time.

"I'm an ear merchant on the joanna...." I watched a movie the "Stone Merchant" the other evening but it was about terrorist.

Like Brian, sometime I just wake up and log on to see what your guys are doing.

Fran

The clue you gave about the car being an Australian one was very clever! From my researching it is evidently an example of the 'Australian Six' made it would seem between 1919 and 1925, and the 'Six' in its name derived from the 6 cylinder engine. I was interested to see the solid wheels, a lot of cars of that time made over here would have had wire spoke wheels for which, of the top of my head, there might have been a couple of reasons: it might have been because bicycle wheels were made that way and so naturally car makers followed suit. Alternatively spoked wheels could assist the circulation of air around the brakes to keep them cool.

Certainly the picture that you uploaded shows it to be a very nice looking car!

Hi Gerald

Shouldn't have stayed up this morning - feeling very tired right now - had to go somewhere fairly early so didn't get much useful sleep after I read the latest posts, and responded! My fault!

I was latterly working for the Land Registry; although the commute was only about 16 miles each way it was still a chore! I never found it a pleasure to be on the drive into work treadmill. When you can pick and choose a bit more as to when you drive motoring becomes more of a pleasure again!
