Oldest car you have ever driven?

Postby himerus » Fri Jul 30, 2010 10:50 am

What is the oldest car you have ever driven? Mine was a 1936 Austin 10. it had a starting handle, a single windscreen wiper, a foot operated dip switch and no heater. It had a blue body and black wings and I called it Bluebottle.

I should like to have driven a 1930's car - or even earlier. A Model T Ford would be really fascinating. I was thinking that a 1951 Land Rover I had was the oldest vehicle I had driven but writing this I remember that I once was lucky to own a 1949 HRG two seater sports car. If only I still had it! More about this model here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HRG_Engineering_Company

A two-tone green 1962 Rover 110 that belonged to someone I knew. I had a drive in it for about half an hour.

A Hillman superminx estate 1960 mk1 with drum brakes all round, also had a starting handle and floor dip switch.
One of the 1st British cars to come with carpets, heater and tool kit as standard, radio cost extra.

Is it like this one?

It's interesting to compare it to a Holden of the same era. The Holden is a bigger car, but you can see a family resemblance between the two General Motors products:
